Interesting concept. However, the words I misspell most often are ones with letters all next to each other, so I'd be wary of having the letters ordered completely by use.
Furthermore, those with sub 5'" and especially 4" screens would have this even worse. Good idea for phablets though.
edit: Minuum might be another good idea.
As far as keyboards go, if you're on a smaller device do give Minuum a try.
It's small mode works surprisingly well especially once you get used to swiping right for completion (so you can hide the space bar, too), and it really nets you back a lot of screen space.
You could take a look at Minuum! It supports typing in two languages simultaneously.
It is also a unique and compact concept of a keyboard, which is definitely worth a try.

I wish this was still a thing, the closest thing to blind typing outside of the screen is the Minuum keyboard. It started as an Indiegogo project that promised to be the future of on-device typing. But now it is practically abandoned in the appstore, last update was on february 2017 😭. I still haven't found a suitable replacement so that might be a good testament of the good quality of the code if it still is better than other apps that are updated every week...
I'm a big fan of Minuum. Their "mini keyboard" mode saves a lot of screen real estate and makes typing super-fast really easy once you get used to it.
Minuum. Got it a year and a half ago and I'm still loving the app, and the dev team is fast and responsive. Also works on a smartwatch (haven't tested it personally). It has Minuum mode, normal keyboard mode and floating keyboard mode. They have a free version that lasts 12 days I think so you can give it a try.
Not in the google messenger itself but you can sideload a 3rd party keyboard with Wear support like Minuum, they have instructions on their website. Then Wear Messenger which supports that keyboard.
It's a tiny keyboard that doesn't take up half your phone screen when you're typing. Everyone I've shown it to says it looks difficult to use and lame, but it's seriously the best app I've ever downloaded and super easy use. It uses the QWERTY layout so you don't have to relearn anything.
I used Minuum Keyboard for a while. Definitely has a slight learning curve but it works great.
Maybe the Minuum Keyboard will be installed by default
Minuum is the closest you can get to Fleksy if your language is supported.
30-day trial or about 3 bucks.
Minuum! Well worth the investment. I love it.

If you don't need emojis made after 2017, check out minuum: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whirlscape.minuumkeyboard
If you want exotic, you should try Minuum keyboard or NinType a.k.a Keyboard 69. If you want functionality Gboard or Swiftkey are my go to options.
Minuum is a triple-letter keyboard.
Very compact, great prediction but it's a trial of 30 days (which you may not like).
Similar one is Fleksy, but it will stop getting updates soon :(
For now Minuum covers all my needs, it's indeed the best keyboard for me. Be sure to check it out. I'm on my phone atm so i cant link it properly atm :(
Edit: Minuum Here, I linked it.
