With Palfish you're using the app over Wi-Fi. To use Palfish you need to download either the iOS App or the Android App.
The calls are handled by the app itself, so you will not require any minutes, but just a broadband internet connection.
I have not tried Palfish via Cellular Data, but I believe the latency could potentially cause network issues, which would discourage students from choosing you in the future.
Hm. I see you're on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.xckj.talk_servicer
Why does your website not point to this instead of making you download an APK. I have no idea what to do with an APK! :D
You got a smartphone? Palfish is an app where you get paid to have English conversations with Chinese students learning English as a second language. You don't need to know any Chinese, the point of the app is for students to practice speaking oral English with a native speaker.
You set your own pay but Palfish's default pay when you sign up (changeable immediately) is 0.5 yuan per minute. That's 30 yuan an hour or roughly $4.50.
It's similar to NiceTalk if you've ever used that but the conversations are almost always voice calls (not video like on NiceTalk), also you set your own rate, and Palfish is apparently easier to get accepted into.
I'd recommend using Palfish to start off with to find out if you want to start teaching English and then decide if you'd like to pursue it as a substantial source of income.
You can be an English tutor on the app whose revenue comes from creating pre-made lessons and selling them or by going online when you're available & setting up appointments with students to freetalk with them. I just do the latter.
That's the thing about Palfish, it's an app students use to practice their oral English with a native speaker. A few students have asked me about grammar, but unless you advertise yourself as an English tutor who can teach, not just speak, about anything, you won't be getting a lot of these requests.
I've done 7.7 hours of teaching on Palfish and I've made 214.45 yuan (£23/$32) from that. To be paid just to have conversations with people, like one does every day, that's not bad IMHO - and I set my rate fairly low anyway (0.5 yuan per minute - trail rate, 0.7 yuan per minute - standard rate).
There is another app like this called Palfish. The main differences with Palfish are that you don't have to do video calls, so the video interview equivalent here is a 40-60 second voice recording (all calls I've received so far have been voice-only), and also you can set your own rate. Worth noting that a lot of people who got rejected from NiceTalk got accepted on Palfish.
