Step 1. Get this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kodek.pebbletasker&hl=en
Step 2: Get this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en
Step 3: Assign pebble tasker as a shortcut.
Step 4: Make a task in tasker that sends a chat message to your girlfriend, test it.
Step 5: Add the task to pebble tasker by launching pebble tasker from your app drawer and choosing the task you made in step 4 in one of the dropdowns.
The process to send the message (from a watchface) is now: Hold down the shortcut button, then once pebble tasker loads, just hit the button that runs the task. Easy enough?
The arduino has relays connected to the car's internal wiring, simulating on/off switches just like pressing the actual buttons in the car. Bluetooth on the arduino communicates with an Android phone.
Tasks created in Tasker (on the phone) sends signals to the arduino via bluetooth. Pebble (with PebbleTasker) triggers the tasks.
nope - tasker is system-wide. I believe PebbleTasker would help with getting Tasker working using the pebble (like you can ALSO use the pebble to do things on your phone), but I'm not sure if thats the only option since I had gotten my pebble AFTER going to iOS.
And yeah pushbullet does SMS reply and initiation on Android
I've used Tasker for a long time, but don't really care what app I use as long as it can do what I need. I really do not like Tasker's approach to programming, though, and Automate looks a lot easier to use. (I am a developer and learning curves are minimal.)
I don't know if Automate does what I want, though, and I can't tell based on the web documentation I've seen so far.
I need to:
(There are some other things, but they're more mainstream and I can see your app can do them.)
Can Automate do these things? I would definitely switch if it can...
I've got this tasker app on my pebble 2 and it's working fine. Recently went back to my pebble now the Rebble has their alternative services running. http://rebble.io/
Yup. The reason I like the pebble amongst other things. I don't want a touch screen on a watch. I can control everything I need to with the physical buttons on the watch, while keeping a hand on the wheel and my eyes on the road.

Maybe let the user select a task from their Tasker tasks and set the Pavlok button to trigger that task? - taking inspiration from what PebbleTasker did for Pebble watches.
For example, I could have tasker task that toggles "do not disturb" mode on my phone, then with this I could choose to trigger that task every time I long press the top button on my Pavlok.
Since Tasker is already a pretty powerful automation platform (you can change phone settings, make web requests, send intents, etc.), integrating with it might require less effort and unlock more functionality than trying to write your own set of things to choose from. But it's only available on Android and requires a bit of tinkering by the user to get it to do what they want 🤷 I love it because I love the tinkering part.
I'm using a pebble time steel with pebble tasker. It has hardware buttons, and battery lasts a full week.
While there hasn't been official support from fitbit since they purchased pebble, and there won't be any new pebble devices, the rebble team has made it so that everything about the watches still work.
Pebble tasker allows you to trigger a menu on the watch (for example, when in your car). That menu can use tap and long-hold on the three buttons to give you 5 directly accessible actions (tasks). The long-hold on the middle button will bring up a user-defined menu that can have 20 more.
Not much advice other than explore. The only thing with pebbles is they can be a PITA to pair at times.
Definitely check out the timeline interface for your calendar. Short press the down button. I use this a lot, usually in the morning before I grab my phone to check my schedule.
If you use Tasker, you can easily put a menu on the watch to launch tasks, and even trigger that menu. For example, when I connect to my car's bluetooth, I get a menu on my watch that lets me quickly swap between Waze, Torque, and clearing all notifications on the phone. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kodek.pebbletasker&hl=en
Here is my favorite watch face: https://apps.getpebble.com/en_US/application/59cba0830dfc32af6100388b?query=caseface&section=watchfaces
if you mean how as in what app lets you do that it's PebbleTasker. I set up the long press the top button to bring it up. in the the pebbletasker app you select which tasks are assigned to which button. also there is a long press on the middle button one you are in that screen to bring up another longer list of selected tasks. very handy.
Sorry, I don't know on iPhone. On Android, you can run any Tasker task using the Pebble Tasker App. I control things while in the car, and lights and heat when at home this way.

You could try Pebble Tasker; I'm not familiar with the Pebble version but from what it can do on the Android version, I think it might be possible.
Pebbletasker and AutoApp for Pebble become pretty powerful together.
I've been using Strava but as mentioned they've discontinued Pebble support. I used PebbleTasker to send intents and start my ride/podcasts without having to pull out my phone. Then when my ride was complete, I could "pause" with the watch, and "stop/save/complete" on my phone later when I'd had a chance to cool down. It was really neat.
I know a lot of people like RunKeeper, it seems to be pretty close to feature parity with Strava, but I haven't found any documentation about how to get start the ride without pulling out my phone. If anyone has any experience with this, or other suggestions I'd be thrilled to hear them!
