My bad. Had it confused with a different calendar app.
A bunch of apps vary from phone to phone because either there is no base android version or manufacturers just like to replace it. Personally I find that the default calendar app is usually abysmal, Google Calendar is easy to use and reasonably attractive but I prefer to operate my calendar from a desktop; on my phone I've been using Pure Grid Calendar for going on 9 years, across 3 devices. It's a simple but highly configurable widget that shows me everything I need easier and more clearly than any other way of looking at a calendar I've tried. I keep 3 pages on my home screen, app icons in the middle (default), Pure Grid Calendar on the left, and a bunch of TickTick views on the right.
It may be old but it's still updated pretty regularly. Also don't be concerned with the visual style of the imagery on that listing, it has a large selection of skins including my favorite, nothing.
Another app that is usually terrible, the calculator. I don't know how so many companies make really very bad calculator apps but likely yours is the worst. I use Calcu, which is pretty decent when the gestures are behaving, but definitely shop around.

I'm with you man. I have a time/weather widget, power controls for wifi, bt, etc, music player to skip tracks without opening app, and a full screen scrollable calendar app I honestly couldn't live without.
