Hello fellow roguelike devs! Just yesterday (02/17/17) I released "The Curse Of Yendor" on Steam! Lots of people who follow this thread played it back in October as part of a Feedback Friday, and that was very helpful. But in case you don't know about it:
Two weeks ago I did a pre-release with my existing players, to test out the Steam version. Most things were smooth, but there were some little things that I had surprisingly overlooked :D They're fixed now.
This past week I've spent making contacts with press and youtubers. (Of course, my advice to you is to spend MONTHS, not weeks contacting these people.)
I also had a lot of fun creating a steam guide / manual for the game.
So launch was Friday, and the reviews are positive. People are describing it exactly as I intended / designed it to be. Which is really great. It's nice when you get your point across!
Please note: At this time, the steam version is only for windows. You can get the game for mac and Linux on itch.io as well as free demos for all platforms. Why? There are additional requirements for mac and Linux on steam. Also, it's hard for me to test on mac, and currently impossible for Linux. I don't want to provide faulty merchandise. If and when I find that these other platforms are performing above 90%, they will become available on Steam.
You can also get it for your android device on Google Play
So that's my week :D Development continues! Bob
The Steam Greenlight has launched!
Thanks to some great feedback on the October 22nd "Feedback Friday" right here on RLD, I have managed to polish up Curse of Yendor and get it in front of the public. The steam public.
And the comments are great (for the most part, as anyone familiar with steam will understand).
Please take a minute to add your voice, and make this awesome Roguelike available on Steam.
Curse of Yendor is a classical roguelike with modern interface, focused on tactical combat, terrain deformation, and mini-quests.
It's available on itch.io , Google Play , and The Amazon App Store .
I now have a working Mac build, and Linux is next :D
Thanks for reading!
Bob
