The Starbucks Android app only runs on Android 6.0 and higher. If you're on an S4, you're probably only able to run 5.0. You can always log-in to your account via the browser and use your card that way.
It looks like the starbucks app was updated yesterday. Looks like they just have generic "we made some changes" in the update notes, but it's possible they just removed widget support.

Sorry, but I think you've got a few things wrong here.
First of all, most adware isn't a virus. Adware is software that uses some form of advertising delivery system. Virus is a generic term for a program that takes control of or harms your device. Adware is not really a huge deal. Annoying, yes, but it won't take over your phone.
Secondly, the Starbucks app does not have to required permissions to damage your phone. You can check the permissions it has at the bottom of this page.
Thirdly, the real potential virus on your phone is that DU Speed Booster. There's a million so-called antivirus apps out there that don't actually do anything at all to benefit your phone. They just pretend to, flagging things as having "viruses" so you think they're actually doing something. Check out it's permissions and compare to the Starbucks app. The "Speed Booster" could actually damage your phone if they chose. I don't know if it's actually harmful, never used it myself, but I wouldn't download it onto my phone.
As you can see from this VirusTotal result the Starbucks app contains no malware whatsoever.
> Conversely if Starbucks didn't know that the viruses were on the app, that is a huge concern also because it severely damages the credibility of Starbucks' IT security measures.
There is no way Starbucks wouldn't know if their app was a virus. If the app was injected with a virus due to another application, it's through a virus you had on your phone already.
So to conclude this, the most likely scenarios are that either:
Your "Speed Booster" app is totally lying, or,
The Starbucks app has had adware injected into it by another app, meaning you have an actual virus on your phone.
I would recommend you remove the DU Speed Booster app and download and run a real antivirus. Malwarebytes and Avast are two I can reccomend.
Sorry for being so blunt, but you shouldn't be so quick to blame an innocent app when something like this happens. And I could be wrong and the app could have adware, but that's highly unlikely.
Anyways, I hope this helped you! Hopefully you don't have a virus, but it does happen sometimes. If you need any help feel free to ask me!
