Actually. Pseudolonewolf (the author) has been/was working on a remake Mardek series, but with a lot of changes because of the experience and the type of person they have become. From what I gather, it's a very different game now, and is going under the name of "Taming Dreams" (yep it is). From their large backlog of blogs, you can really see their a pretty insecure and anxious person.
Just looking further, it's for android devices, episodic/chapters, first two episodes free, any future episodes cost money.
Let.s see- link Taming Dreams RPG.
Indie fantasy adventure with 2 episodes? Have you played it?
My vote goes to Mardek RPG. It was a half parody of- half tribute to old school JRPGs. It did a really good job of balancing funny, fourth wall breaking shenanigans with more dramatic elements when the situation called for it. And, of course, the gameplay was fun, too, with an interesting form of character progression wherein characters could learn skills from the weapons and armor they equipped in addition to simply getting stronger from leveling. There were also plenty of cool sidequests, too, especially in the last published chapter.
Only three of a planned... eight, I believe, chapters were made, but the creator has more recently rebooted the series as Taming Dreams on Androids, which I have yet to play and can't really comment on.
Honorable mentions go to the aforementioned A Dark Room and Evoland, an amusing Zelda-esque Adventure game.
