If you like flashcards you could try Anki? I've heard good things but it doesn't suit me very well.
The N5 app I use is This one for JLPT N5. I have the Kanji and Vocab ones as well, they're VERY overwhelming to be honest and I'll probably not use them until I'm a lot better at translation... My vocab is my weakest point at the moment, so that's what I'll be working on.
Recently I've been reading song lyrics in English and translating on-the-fly to say them in Japanese along with the song... It's daunting and not exactly conversational due to the "slang" and shortened differences between spoken and lyrical Japanese, but it's helping with a lot of the phrases :)
