Wifi analyser. Many wifi routers are using a factory default channel, meaning you can end up in situation where most wifi in an apartment building are basically jamming each others.
Also gives you cool graphs so even your grandma can understand the issue.
Edit: Getting lots of questions about iPhones -- unfortunately I'm not aware of an equivalent for the App Store. If somebody knows of one, I'll gladly add it to my comment.
You download the app WiFi analyzer on your phone, check out which channels are super full, then you go to your routers wireless settings, change the channel to manual and choose a channel which no other WiFi networks. Done.
Edit: WiFi Analyzer by Farproc https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer
Edit2: Its because the WiFis interfere with each other and get slower exponentially the further you are away from the router, because the relatively stronger signals from the other router interfere your signal. Doesnt matter when you have a small 55 m² apartment like i do, but if you have connection problems over a longer distance you can probably solve the problem by doing what i mentioned above.
If you still have a bad connection dont use WiFi-Extending-Shitunits and better use an Accespoint and lay a long cable properly once instead of the hazzle of always resetting and repositioning the extenders. These guys mostly cause more trouble and extend the bad signal they get. If you still want to use one of those atleast use them in the MIDDLE between your Router and the Computer using it. Not right next to the Computer, otherwise it will tune up the shit signal and your computer will show you 10/10 WiFi but internet is still not good.
Edit3: I forgot DLan - Internet over your power line, but it depends hardly on the wiring on your house but maybe its worth a look. I dont know many people that had a really good connection with that. E.g. you turn on the microwave and your character in CS:GO is porting through CT spawn because of that lol

Google Opinion Rewards - Free play store credit for the odd notification asking you survey questions. Not as intrusive as it sounds. I have about £7 of credit at the mo!
There is an app called Google Opinion Rewards. Every week or so you get a chance to do a survey for a chance at money added to your google wallet. The best part is as soon as you set it up, the first survey comes immediately and gives you a dollar. I used that to pay for the ad-free version of Textra.
Now I only have like $2 in my wallet, but it's free money and I just use it for apps I want.
Edit: RIP my inbox yikes
Here's the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.paidtasks&hl=en
If you can't find it in the store it's probably not supported on your device.
THIS IS ANDROID ONLY
Also only US and a few other countries
Google opinion rewards. Get paid to answer questions, never pay for anything in the play store again
Edit: link to app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.paidtasks
Edit edit: for those of you who never got questions I would check to make sure you have location services on as well as making sure you allow it to run in the background (I think this was a manual setting I had to change for it and the Gmail app to work properly on the most recent version of Android)
I'll take this opportunity to plug Google Opinion Rewards. It's not necessarily my favorite app, but I've never paid anything out of my own pocket on the Play Store because of it. When you install it, you will occasionally get notifications to take a survey. I usually get about 1-2 a week depending on where I go/what I do. Surveys last about 30 seconds to a minute. Sometimes you'll watch a video or something. They most commonly ask surveys about local shopping experiences so make sure to keep Location data turned on, unless you're not okay with them tracking you. Here are my earnings for the past 2 years as an example: https://i.imgur.com/C1CfuNC.png. Unfortunately, it's Android only because the credit they give you is only useful on the Google Play Store. Make sure to answer the questions truthfully for the best results because I believe they insert bogus options for answer choices occasionally to make sure you are being truthful, but that's just my theory.
Google Opinion Rewards. Free money for answering a few questions every few days. Link for those who are curious. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.paidtasks&hl=en
Recently, I felt like I was texting a new friend from work a lot, so I looked at my text history to compare. This shows every SMS I sent or received since October 2011 (earlier data, mainly light blue and orange, is missing). MMS are not included. Data was collected using SMS Backup & Restore and plotted with GNU Octave.
My top 8 contacts are shown individually; the remainder are lumped together as college friends, high school friends, and everything else. Data is smoothed with a truncated Gaussian kernel having a 5 day sigma.
Similarity to yesterday's post by /u/teddarific is coincidental.
Edit: Because it is not as clear as I intended: the second plot identifies each line with a gray label and colored marker. The events are the color of the person they correspond to. So "visited" in purple means someone from the purple line (college friends) visited me, and "wedding" in light blue means light blue got married.
I don't have a Samsung so I don't know if this still works, but my mother was using an app to rebind the bixby button to other actions, you should try it out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions
IDK if ya'll have Samsung BUT

Opening Pornhub app will now set your volume to 0%.
EDIT, due to a few reoccurring questions/comments:
Pornhub app is on android. You have to download it from the pornhub site, Google Play doesn't allow adult material apps. I don't know of any Pornhub app for iOS.
If you want more functionality from Bixby, check out this app. Been using it for months with no problems. Default version lets you remap the button for single-press and removes the alternate from launching bixby. Pro version gives you single-press, hold, double-press, and double press & hold. Pro is $3, and it's the best $3 you'll ever spend on Google Play. I'm not shilling here, this is a great tool for remapping the bixby button and totally disabling bixby's grips from it.
I've actually gotten better at this by basing my alarms off of several 90-minute intervals and using tasker on my phone to wake me up with a good song. I make sure to change the song frequently so that I don't get ptsd when I hear it anywhere else.
>* Google Opinion Rewards - So I can get 0.12 cents for telling Google where I was and that I drove my car to get there
I just got a buck for telling Google I've never had a mini stroke. Is this a common thing? I might like this, if its a common thing.
Google Rewards is a survey app I use. Basically, the app tracks your location and asks you questions about your shopping habits, what you watch on TV, etc.
So basically trade your privacy for cash, instead of ads.
If we're talking wifi specifically, do a wifi spectrum analysis with a free app and discover what channels your neighbors' networks are operating on. Change your router's settings and make sure yours is on the least crowded channel. You'll have less interference and should have better connectivity.
Edit: If you're using your phone to run the spectrum analysis, check out Wifi Analyzer. If you're doing it from your laptop or PC, check out Wifi Info View.
Generally stick to channels 1, 6, or 11 if you can. If not, check your throughput with the router set to other channels to see if any of them are better than where you started.
And yes, operating on the 5GHz spectrum is preferable above all other options. 802.11ac operates only in the 5GHz band.
That depends on your stock keyboard. Gboard is a great option now (especially since the Dec 2016 update).
I used nothing but SwiftKey for about 2 years but was always bothered by certain things, like the aggressive spacing after periods. Trying to text somebody a web address was always frustrating. Gboard handles that better.
Step 1: Install Google Opinion Rewards
Step 2: Live your life.
Step 3: Take 5-20 second surveys every so often that give you $0.10 to $1.00 in Google Play money
Step 4: Buy Sync for reddit for free!
Google Opinion Rewards -- Get Play Store credit for answering short surveys. Women tend to get more than men. It's not alot at a time, and surveys frequency is all over the place, but it adds up. I've gotten $53.61 over the past 2 years and my girlfriend has gotten about $45 in just the past year.
I've done this since January 2014. I've accumulated about $40 in surveys. It's nice to get free movie rentals or apps when you need them.
Don't lie or embellish in your answers. Nobody can fool Google over the course of years.

Interesting app ID: paid tasks.
Jumping on this bandwagon. I know you're joking but I still wanted to suggest ppl try out the Google Rewards app. You get play store credit for answering surveys. Anywhere from US$0.10 to US$1.00 per survey. They are also typically very short. I've earned at total of $36 since starting it and still have $16 left (I rarely download paid apps not for any specific reason, just happens that way). If you have location always turned on it can get a little creepy by sending you surveys of places you been at or nearby. I'm ok with this but you might not
You should download Google Opinion Rewards.
All you have to do is answer survey questions to earn credit that can be used in the Play Store. I have earned nearly $200.00 over the course of a few years.
YSK that Disk Usage is a great SpaceSniffer-like tool that lets you visualize the size of files.
edit: the gift of gold inspired me to add a link to Space Sniffer. (If you like Disk Usage, definitely check out this Windows equivalent!)
You can use the Tasker app for Android to block calls using wildcards during certain hours. Here's a guide on how to set up call blocking.
I have a similar profile that mutes calls from non-Favorite numbers during certain hours so I can only be contacted for emergencies, etc.
It's got to be the Wifi. When you're in this "portal" you're near a wifi AP with an SSID / MAC that matches one in Atlanta GA. MAC addresses are supposed to be unique, but when manufacturers are given a limited pool that they can use, they will sometimes reuse them but ship those products to different parts of the world to avoid network conflicts.
If you want to confirm this, get something like Wifi Analyzer and write down / screenshot the MAC addresses that are nearby when this happens. And someone else in that spot in Atlanta do the same thing. You'll probably find a match.
> DiskUsage provides a way to find files and directories on storage which consume a lot of space. Displays diagram with directories/subdirectories proportional to their size.
DiskUsage [<200 KB in size]
You really can't talk about the power of Android apps without bringing up Tasker. In a nutshell, it allows you to automate just about anything on your phone.
I use it to automatically silence my phone whenever I'm at school or charging overnight. I use it to block calls from first time unknown callers. I use it to enable or disable auto rotate depending on which app I'm in. I've used it in the past to switch between two different launchers based on whether I'm at school or not. I've even set it up to do some wacky things like play the Wii Shop Channel theme whenever I open the Play Store (stole the idea from someone else) and speed up or slow down all system-wide animations based on the amount of light hitting the light sensor.
If you can't tell already, it's insanely powerful and limited really only by your creativity. If you want to try before you buy I think I remember a trial version being on the developer's website. But it really is the best few dollars I've spent on an app.
Sesame Search is a universal search app that integrates seamlessly into Nova launcher and other custom launchers. You can search your Spotify playlists, subscribed subreddits, contacts, and tons more all from the same place. By far the best search solution I've seen on any phone ever and it's what convinced me to use a custom launcher instead of the stock Pixel launcher.
Another part of Android that I enjoy that I haven't seen mentioned are live wallpapers, and Google makes some that are downright sexy. You can sideload any of their Pixel live wallpapers by looking for them on Google. Fracta, Minima, Chrooma, and Material Islands are all quality too and those are available on the Play Store.
Download Google Opinion Rewards. Google sends you surveys every so often and they pay $0.10-1.00 per survey and its added to your Google Wallet™ which can in turn use for in-app payments.
I've been using RiF (GP) for at least 7 years and see no ads, at all.
Download Google Opinion Rewards, and then buy the golden platinum edition with the free credit.
I've tried others and keep coming back to "Gboard - the Google Keyboard":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin
It does everything I want and I do not have to worry about it being spyware and stealing my passwords, logins, etc.
Try the Google Keyboard. It beats the shit out of the Samsung one.
Also, if you really want to enjoy Android, check out r/Tasker. This is the ultimate automation app which can do just about anything you want your phone to do when a certain condition is met.
When my girlfriend really needs to get a hold of me and my phone is on silent, I'm asleep, or whatever, I have it set to ring really loud when she texts me "911". But it can do a LOT of more complicated things than that.
If you're on Android - install Google opinion rewards (search the play store). Do a few surveys, they reward you with play store credit. Most times the very first survey is worth $1. Wait a few days, get over $2.
Purchase BR from the play store with store credit. Don't use in app purchase.
No ads for life, cost you nothing.
Also, the rewards app works better if you leave location history on. You'll get surveys asking to rank stores you've visited. Just don't lie to the app, they'll know you're lieing and stop sending you surveys.
I've been doing Google opinion rewards for 1.5 years, and have over $75 in play store credit.
Edit:. Here's the link to the rewards app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.paidtasks
Use this to see what really is taking up all that space. Then you can use the file explorer or something like that to delete the files. The same thing happened to me, this is is how I solved it.
For android:
Call Logs Backup & Restore
I'm using these. Both apps has the same dev, so the functionality of them are nearly identical. The cool thing is you can set up a daily scheduled backup, exp. at 1am, saved out onto the internal storage, or uploaded to dropbox/google drive.
Tasker has not been banned from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en
They were delisted because they had implemented a function (android.permission.REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS) that stops the phone from sleeping properly. A function that Google had notified everyone with some advanced notice would not be allowed except for in certain instances which Tasker did not meet. The Tasker Crew cleaned things up and got the app back up in no time.
I'll start. For Android users, Google Opinion Rewards will give you Play credit for answering market research questions. The amount of questions you get deepens heavily on your demographics it seems, as my female friend of the same age gets about twice as many questions as I do, but I've still obtained like six or seven dollars in the past few weeks. Nothing amazing, but spending money.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions
The app will have a delay unless you unlock permissions on your computer so I would highly recommend you doing it.
well i also have a solution for that, just use google's GBoard. you can set it to have a dedicated emoji key that brings up the usual categories and a search bar. i just found out you can even search by drawing the emoji.
this is the link to tasker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en). as for the task i set up, i was using the cell towers around work (because the gps didn't work well in the building) for tasker to know i was in my office. if it connected to my work cell towers between 9-930 it would say "hey baby just got to work, miss you.", or other message randomly chosen from a list, then i had a list of generic nice messages (miss you, can't wait to see you, etc) that would get sent when i would plug the phone in/unlock the screen when i was at work. then when i would leave work and the phone would drop off my work cell towers it would send a message saying "hey baby just left work see you soon" or something along those lines. i had 3 lists of messages, an arrived at work list, left work list, and general nice message list and tasker would randomly pick which message to send to help it not seem so automated.
I don't see why not using the Tasker app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en_CA
You get to answer surveys based on your location and your browsing habits (gotta be comfortable about that fact) but you receive various amount of money in your Google Play Store account for each surveys you respond to. I haven't paid for an app in a while. I think I'm up to around $80 since I started several years ago.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.paidtasks
Be honest, as Google occasionally asks you verification questions. Unless you're a rare demographic, you probably won't be getting $40 worth of credits.
I've used Google Opinion Rewards for a few years, and absolutely love it.
Throughout the day (usually 1 every day or two for me, varies though) a 10 second survey will pop up, and give a little bit of change for Google Play. Over time, this really adds up, and I generally make $10 every month or two, which I use to buy things in games. Definitely worth a try, it's free money!
This makes a huge difference if you live somewhere with shared walls between units. I use the "Wifi analyzer" app on Android to check which channels are being used by neighbors.
Wifi Analizer, para descubrir cómo llega el Wifi a cierta zona de tu casa. La App arma un gráfico con el rendimiento de las redes que haya, y vas a ver cómo cambia a medida que te movés.
Get Google Opinion Rewards, it pays you in Play Store credit for answering surveys. You'll have enough credit to purchase in no time.
bxActions lets you remap the volume and bixby buttons to anything you want, and if you no run the adb commands (No root required) then the buttons will respond instantly: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions
I always put 2k eggs into the orange incubator (they have the best stardust per km return). If I don't have a 2k egg avaiable, only then will I put a 5k into the orange incubator. Blue incubators I use almost exclusively for 10k eggs but will put an occasional 5k in just in order to help clear eggs from my inventory (mostly in those cases where you only have 5k eggs)
I haven't had to do it in a while but I also supplement gym coins with the free money that can be obtained using Google Opinion Rewards app. It doesn't pay out a ton but it can eventually add up and everything helps if you're going the F2P route.
Have you tried Google Opinion Rewards? You take surveys and get Google Play credit, that's how I purchase all my apps.
Google Opinion Rewards is an Android app where you answer surveys for Play Store credit. It is unique from other survey programs in that the surveys are short (longest I've seen had 7 questions) and rewards seem better than others (I got 59¢ for about a minute of my time once). Link
I like the Bixby button, not for Bixby, but for remapping. Currently mine is configured as:
Single press: Google Voice control assistant
Hold single press: Google now news page with search bar along top
Double press: torch
Hold double press: Reddit
So personally I like it.
EDIT: since someone asked I used this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions and paid for the pro version for a few more features and then made a few alterations on my pc
If you use the app enough to notice and complain about ads, you can afford the few bucks it costs for ad free browsing.
As an Android user you have access to Google Opinion Rewards that pays you in Play Store credit for answering short questions about your behavior (both on and offline). To date I have earned nearly $60 for taking a minute or less out of my day to take surveys, plus the credits last for 1 year after they've been received.

Install Google Opinions Rewards and fill out surveys for google play credit! Never spend a dime, but get that premium gacha gold! I'm not a spambot, I just think that people who use google play should get this app!
It gives you about .10- .50 cents a survey, it's non intrusive and it makes it easy to spend google play credits guilt free. :')
I finally figured out why my Note 4 was dying all the time, turns out, the battery only charges up to about 60% of its original capacity. Thanks AccuBattery.
It's a good thing this is fixable with a £12 replacement battery, praying that the one sold by Amazon (not FBA / marketplace sellers) is actually legit, I'm pretty damned sure the £5 ones aren't.
And now it's again almost unusable in some urban settings. In San Francisco a few days ago I saw probably 30 2.4ghz wifi networks with signal in the same coffee shop (using Wifi Analyzer). And people wonder why their internet is slow... This is why: https://play-fi.com/images/uploads/wifi-analyzer.png
For Android users, there's Tasker and the Tasker Plugin for Tesla. These apps all take advantage of the Tesla API.
I've set up numerous automatons with these such as auto setting the climate before I leave work so that my car is heated up or cooled down based on the weather. Now with V10, I've made it work with the defroster for the winter!
I also have it auto shut off my charging if I am at home at 11am and it's currently plugged in on a weekday. This is because my electricity rates are higher between 11am and 7pm. This is great for days when I work from home, am sick, or it's a holiday.
I've got more. Let me know if there is interest, I can post more info.
You can use it to find that one spot available (least crowded) in the wireless spectrum for the best WiFi-signal when setting up which channels to use. You can also use it to find weak signal shadows as they change with different positions of sender and receiver in relation to walls and interfering networks.
A PSA for US (or apparently some other countries)-based* Android users: Google has an app where you can answer opinion surveys and receive Play Store credit. It's a only like a dollar at a time, but this credit can be used to purchase packs.
Havent understood your case fully but ill do my rant.
Receiving 100% is a Windows 8/10 stupidity. Download "wifi analyzer " app (windows and android only) to understand the signal strength.
The usual problem is, the extender uses half its bandwidth to capture and other half to transmit. so when it is at a place where it receives, say, 50% of the original routers signal, it uses half its capacity to take that 50 i.e. it can take 25 of that 50 and uses the other half of its capacity to transmit that 25. So inherintly this is not a great model.
instead run a ethernet cable from the downstairs modem's out to upstairs and reconfigure the second modem to be act as an Access Point. should retain maximum speed.
this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en
That's my answer too. Assuming you aren't renting too often, Google Opinion Rewards can probably pay for most of your movie rentals without costing you anything out of pocket. I have $16.80 in credit right now.
Install Google Rewards ASAP!
I've purchased Play Cards before but the Rewards program has given me lots of credit to try new & exciting Apps! I've acquired $50 in 2x years- other users here have doubled that! 😲

Random tips:
I recommend using DiskUsage instead so you can actually see what's taking up space on your device and make a more informed decision about what you're removing instead of letting an app manage it for you.
Sign up and take surveys. Most questions are based on where you've been before and shopping experiences at stores you've visited and it could depend on your demographic as well, so your mileage may vary.
Google Opinion Rewards gives you Google Play money for answering survey questions. It's great for getting a little spending money for games. The only downside that I know of is that you are limited by your demographic. For example: my wife gets waaaaaay more surveys than I do and therefore has made a lot more money. Apparently businesses are way more willing to pay for her opinion than my own.
You can use bxaction to remap your bixby button to "Screen on/off". You can also map a long press of the bixby button to pop up the power options menu as well if you so desire.
Works with non-root but you'll need to run a few adb commands from a computer. The app will provide a tutorial if it detects the phone as unrooted.
Google Opinion Rewards is also worth an install! You get anywhere between $0.10 and $0.80 for answering quick little 30 second surveys every now and then. It's a slow build up, but it's nice orb money now and then.
Yeah there's quite a few apps for it now & its not even out

I installed this to all the demo units at bestbuy haha should've remapped them to pornhub or this sub
An app itself can override rotation lock. If the app - like MFP - does not do this or does not offer the option, you need Tasker or a similar app.
The sooner you get an Android phone, the sooner you can start doing Google opinion surveys, which give you play store credit. You'll have your app library back in no time.

If you really like this app but don't want to spend the money, Google has a rewards app just for taking surveys. It's kind of amazing. Haven't paid for an app in forever.
Google Opinion Rewards: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.paidtasks
Yes, there are likely to be similarities between apps that do the same thing, but... This app feels like a ripoff of Farproc's Wifi Analyzer which has been out for years. Look at the design choice for the various graphs - it's too similar to be a coincidence.
I agree, but diskusage is a really useful app. You can see a really good visual list of what's using storage, sorted by most to least.
I found a few apps thtt had huuuge cache files, and a few large folders containing nothing important. Realizing that I had 40 gigs of podcasts that I was never going to listen to was an eye opener.
Edit: OK people, stop recommending I 'just use x app' which doesn't do the same thing at all. Diskusage shows every single folder and file on one screen, and you pinch to zoom each section of the tree. It's also very well respected and isn't sketchy. I only brought it up to show an example of a cleaner-like app which is useful. Look at the screenshots to see what I mean: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage
Don't accept UI limitations; root your device and install Xposed if you find a module that can overcome them.
In the EU you have two years mandatory warranty by law from the seller of the product and in the first six months they have to proof to you that a malfunction is not caused by a manufacturing error / limitation.
Install Tasker and play with it for an hour. Chances are that you will find an use for it.
Get the app Disk Usage to see what is eating up storage and the app OS Monitor to spot apps that use CPU time in the background. BTW, there is a desktop Windows equivalent of Disk Usage called Space Sniffer.
Remember that you can return apps within 2 hours and get your money back, but also that there is no money back policy for in app purchases.
If you have a Samsung phone, use Game ~~Center~~ Launcher to lower the resolution of slow games.
Download a WiFi channel analyser and see what channel is the most under utilised. What I did for my street.
This is a good app if you have an Android device: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en_GB
Ampere is pretty amazing to check how much power that specific cable and charger is sending your phone. Found a few of the cables I had were faulty and gave less than 200 mA while my stock one is 1050 mA. Definitely something to have and keep on your phone. It is free with an IAP of $1.13 to remove and add a few features.

Google Opinion Rewards pays you for your opinions on different stores and restaurants. It occasionally asks you for a receipt and opinions on YouTube videos. Of course, you need to have location tracking for maximum benefit. It typically pays about $0.10 per survey but sometimes more.
I've had it for a few years and earned more than $100 over 400+ surveys. I've used it to buy apps and games on the Play Store.
Run this guy for a couple weeks to get a good health reading and make a call. If that heavy use is four hours of screen on time it doesn't sound like any issue however.

Here is what I do.
Download Tasker; This app is a power house of automation for your Android phone. This can be a scary app to get into, but it allows you to do a ton of stuff with your phone. > The app works like this. You setup certain scenarios and assign tasks to them. So the idea is
Open the App
On the Profiles screen click on the "+" button in the middle.
Then you need to select the context, which will be "Application".
Select Summoners War from the list. Once selected click on the Tasker Gear in the top left.
Click on "New Task"
Name Task "Screen Off" or something like that.
Click on "+"
Now select "Display" from the Action Category
Select "Display Timeout"
Select a time frame for the display to turn off. So I would select 5-10 minutes just depending on your preference. Once selected click on the Tasker Gear in the top left. >This action it will override the system default for timeout
Click the Tasker Gear in the top left
Edit: This may or may not work for your phone. It won't hurt to try.
No, this is a dumb thing. Reducing the frequency of background scans I can agree with, but no way this should be enforced for foreground apps. At least make it a permission. This is going to greatly limit the usefulness of apps like Wifi Analyzer - in this case, you'd have to wait for 30 seconds before you can see the graph update again which is painful say, if you're moving around your premises scanning for signal issues.

This will save your text mesaages away and is free. Method 2 involves using android messages from google. You install it and use that as your sms app. You can then use it on a web browser and see your messages so you can then save to pdf or print them.
Voicemails are harder. If you have visual voicemail on your phone from your provider this will allow yoi to save your voicemails as mp3's, otherwise it is the record your call and listen to all yoir voicemails way.
Apps running wild in the background hasn't been much of an issue for me in the past 2 years.

If you're into theming, you can use Samsung's theme store. If you're really really into theming, you can install substratum and andromeda which will let you theme a lot of popular apps plus your system UI. This one poses the most risk since you can break your phone.
Project Treble on all 8.0+ phones, allows you to install some ROMs and still have a functional phone without too much worry. Assuming the rom supports Project Treble features.
I'd say overall Android is extremely light these days. Kinda cool watching it grow over the last few years.
Make sure you've put your phone number on the government's do not call list: https://www.donotcall.gov/
And if you have an Android phone using Google's Phone app you can now have spam calls go straight to voicemail! Go to Phone App-> Settings-> Caller ID & spam-> Filter suspected spam calls.
Came here to say this. When this happened at my office I used a program from google play store called Wifi Analyzer.
As I walked around the office the app told me if the signal was getting weaker or stronger, until I found the rogue router installed in our Production Manager's office.

Rewards. Install this, then you'll receive surveys.
However, if you're in a demographic that is already largely using the app, you might receive less surveys than others.

I'm tired of waiting for Google to implement something simple.
Whales and dolphins that have a Costco account can actually buy discounted cards from them. There's usually $100 giftcards for $83 and on the rarer occasion, $50 gift cards discounted to about $40.
There's also an app Google has that gives you a bit of money for answering survey questions based on your location which another member of this sub told me about: here. You won't be making big bucks from it, but it can help supplement purchases.
If you're in a congested area, you might need to change channels to get better signal. Since you have Android, grab Wifi Analyzer and check how many other networks are around and on the same channel as yours. If there's more than 1 with signal rivaling yours, try to change to a channel that has NO overlap with other APs. If there's just too many to do that, try buying your own wireless router and use 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz. The range is a bit lower because of poorer wall penetration, but if 2.4GHz is crowded, it will resolve your issues.
That's of course assuming that the problem only happens over WiFi. In any case, you'll still probably be better off with 5GHz since you're getting that kind of signal in the same room as the AP.
A PSA for Android users: Google has an app where you can answer opinion surveys and receive Play Store credit. This credit can be used to purchase packs if you download through the play store.
Not vudu credits, but if you have a Android phone get this app it gives you anywhere from 10 cents to 50 cents of Google Play credit to fill out short surveys, you can buy movies and they'll transfer over to Vudu via MA. Balance adds up pretty quick. Just bought two movies with some credits!

My OnePlus 3 changed the way I charge my phone. It charges so fast that I never plug it in at bed time. Whenever it has been a while since I charged and I'm close to my charger, I throw it on until this app notifies me that I have charged up to 80%. I still get great battery life so this appears to be working.

I think it's the later versions of Google's Phone app

Here's the play store link. Once you sign up it might take some time to get surveys. It's typically based off location data and you'll get little surveys that give you at least 10 cents that you can spend on the play store. I've earned over $130 since I started but that's been several years.
Step 1: Install Ampere for android. It will tell you the actual charging current, if your phone charging circuit can provide this information.
Step 2: If the battery temperature is over 40 °C, charging stops. Ampere will show you this. If it's the case for you, find a way to keep the phone cool.
Step 3: Replace the USB cable if charging a cold phone with the original charger and low display brightness doesn't give you a decent charging current (1000-ish mA). Micro-USB plugs (male end on the cable) wear out quickly, so I have found, especially if you're routinely handling the phone with the USB cable plugged in (it usually lasts a couple of months for me.) Unfortunately, most aftermarket cables are crap, so I have found. In the Netherlands, the 100 cm micro-USB cables from HEMA are decent.
With your social media apps, have a look for some alternative apps that are often better than the original (i.e. swipe instead of facebook's app etc).
If you are interested in doing some dev work but have no experience, get an app called tasker, head over to /r/tasker and have a poke around. It is a fantastic app which allows you to program without writing/learning stacks of code/api's etc. There are also a whole bunch of plugins to extend the functionality of it which is where tasker really shines. There is a bunch of plugins created by /u/joaomgcd who is active on here and an all round fantastic developer/human!
Also take some time and play around with the customisation aspect of android. Custom launchers and icon packs to change the look and feel of your screen, widgets galore to give you info you want.
Overall, just have fun with it and don't be afraid to try a whole bunch of different apps that do the same thing, at the end of the day, what is the best for one person might not be the best for another.
Welcome to the android ecosystem - It's not a choice, it's a lifestyle!
>This is the ONLY app on google play that will map your network in a graphical display!
I saw that as well. I use this, and literally the first screenshot is a Wifi graph.
Google Opinion Rewards is an android app that gives you google play store credit for surveys you answer. Keep in mind this is dependent on where you live and what stores you visit, BUT if you're playing pokemon go you'll probably get a lot of surveys.
I ended up getting $5 dollars yesterday from all the stores I visited because of the pokestops and gyms. Also answer the surveys truthfully, you'll only screw yourself over if you lie.
