Upload your own mp3 tracks to google play... Google play can make a radio station based on your favorite artists. I have a lot of Anthrax uploaded... and it plays Testament and Overkill (which I don't own) on the Anthrax station.
It can make stations based off of songs too... I get in a Meshuggah: Bleed mood when I cut grass. It plays music lawnmower sounding music while I push my lawnmower.
AND
It can make a radio station based on whatever you want to listen too (music you don't have uploaded... like pandora/spotify... but with more control) I have a King Diamond station for those times when I want Jesus to cry. It plays that style of genre and style of music.
Unless you are wanting an actual real radio station app. Just get https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=radiotime.player&hl=en ... I tune in to the local college radio and conservative radio all the time with it. Works great... but isn't real time. 3 to 5 minute delay most of the time.
Edit: organization, humor
I'm looking for (simple as possible) internet radio app suggestions.
Here's what I already tried:
TuneIn Radio Pro I left this some time ago because of bloat. I want a simpler solution.
Simple Radio by Streema Latest beta has this weird UI element, probably ad related, but even disabling my ad blocker doesn't change the look of it. Also reviews are saying they see push notification ads from Simple Radio. Do not want.
Transistor Radio Perfect app for my purpose, but unfortunately can't cope with doze in Marshmallow/Nougat. Stream is stopping very often, when my phone is lying flat on its back.
TuneIn Radio has this feature.
