Seriously, if you have an android device, it's more useful when searching for items than the actual app. I can't tell you how many times I've searched for a price check on the app, rather than walking all the way to the department and attempt to find this obscure item with no tag. And it also displays a barcode for most items that can be scanned with the MC40/TC70s. It's useful as fuck.
I created Walton. The app can help you look for items in your store or online, its a lot like the Walmart app but shows you all the info that the app doesn't show. You get on hands and item location info, plus scanable barcodes, so you can ring up items or use the mc40 to scan to set.

The Walton app will give you the Aisle mod location. So if something is in A14, it will tell you A14-5 for example. It also gives you a barcode so you can scan it with an MC-40 or TC70 and get the item on that for the exact location.
It also allows you to check if nearby stores carry something yours doesn't or if what the customer is looking for is online only. Super useful.
I can see the integrity issues with using your phone on the clock. However helping a customer should be your number one priority. Having a device that can nearly instantly tell you and your customer where they can find something or even help answer any question should be considered acceptable. Though check with your ASM or store manager about this if you feel uncomfortable.
Using my app Walton Product Lookup, Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ionicframework.walton581920
You can find products listed in weekly ads, to verify Price comps on the fly.
You can even scan a product's upc and get detailed information and even get online prices for over 100's Online retailers (Soon over 40,000 local and online).
I've had issues with some products barcodes not scanning at the register, for instance it would tell me to scan the other barcode for a lamp. Looking a the lamp thoroughly I couldn't find another barcode. I scanned it with the app and then scanned the barcode on the Walton app and viola its the same product and it scanned successfully.
And many more features I cant think of right now... (I bit tired after work, haha)
