Download this tasker plugin https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.meridiani.apps.wificonnect Create a profile: add a trigger condition (like reached home) and then in task use plugin (it will connect you to your chosen wifi, so choose home wifi) . Add your own tweaks. Hope it helps.
Please don't use all-caps in the title.
I use WiFiConnect for Tasker; there are two access points at home, and it's handy being able to tell the system which one to use.
I'm no good with programing so this will have to do, download WiFi Connect
Make a profile with WiFi Near (in the State menu) Have it set for your car Hotspot.
Then using WiFi Connect, have it connect to the Hotspot
What specific Action would be used to force the connect when the signal strength is > x, or, to prevent the device from connecting when the signal is < x ?
Since there is no WifI Connect Action, I think would have to use a plugin like "Wifi Connect For Tasker", but I think it's not working on Marshmallow yet.
Unless you were thinking about something different?
There's a plugin available for connecting to wifi networks with Tasker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.meridiani.apps.wificonnect
IIRC, it also lets you configure a specific network to connect to.
Try the plugin WiFi Connect. It has mixed reviews, but I've used it for quite a while and it works fine.
Note - last time I updated my phone, the app looks messed up (when opened)... However the plugin is still working within Tasker. Worth a shot.
Edited for clarity
Yes, it can be done. Create a profile with Net -> Wifi Near and select the wanted Wifi network. Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.meridiani.apps.wificonnect (free) and select the network you want to connect. As for Bluetooth, I'm using Secure Task plugin (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.balda.securetask) (IAP / Ad supported)
It does not change everyday. I made a task (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.meridiani.apps.wificonnect) before my phone forgot the WiFi name, then tried to run it after my phone forgot the WiFi name, and I got an error that the WiFi doesn't exist.

AutoTools | Connectivity | Check Wifi Networks gives you full info in JSON, including ssid, mac, and frequency.
If you just want to connect using Tasker : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.meridiani.apps.wificonnect&hl=en_GB This works for me on Marshmallow.
Many folks have had good success with <strong>Wifi Connect For Tasker</strong> plugin.
Review in Play Store says:
> Using this with Tasker I'm now able to have my phone automatically connect to my 5 GHz network when the signal is strong enough, even when my 2.4 GHz network has a stronger signal. Great job, dev!
> I hope that made sense.
Actually, no lol. However you may want to take a look at the following two apps/plugins that could assist in what you want to do ;)
There's a plugin called Wi-Fi connect for Tasker. It's fairly robust, not sure if applies to this exact situation but may be part of a larger solution.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.meridiani.apps.wificonnect
Haven't tried it yet, but will when I get home.
Edit: derp. You might be able to script the commands with a shell plugin or task.
There's a WiFi Connect plugin for Tasker that gets real specific as far as what/how to connect to. Haven't used it but it seems to get rave reviews.
Try the WiFi Connect for tasker plugin.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.meridiani.apps.wificonnect Google showed me this, I just tested it and it looks like it works. What are you planing to do? :)
if you'll have to get another phone, I do not know if it's worth it anymore as you can get a DashCam for < $50.
Regardless, here's how my setup works:
Like I said earlier, I have to phones: P1 = Phone with service; P2 = Old phone without service
When phone connects to my car's bluetooth (could be your NFC tag)
Enter Task ------------ Use AutoInput to start Mobile Hotspot Use AutoRemote to send "start=:=drive" message to P2
Exit Task ------------ Use AutoInput to stop Mobile Hotspot Use AutoRemote to send "stop=:=drive" message to P2
Note: I am using AutoInput for hotspot because I am not rooted :(. If I were rooted, I'd use SecureSettings to enable HotSpot
When phone detects power, it run Enter Task
Enter Task ------------ Bluetooth is ON AutoRemote Bluetooth Services Started
Exit Task ------------ Wait a minute AutoRemote Bluetooth Services is Stopped Put phone to sleep
When "start=:=drive" AutoRemote message received
Turn on WiFi Connect to my mobile Hotspot (using a wifi connect for tasker) Launch a DashCam app (using VideoRegPro) Wait 5 seconds Use an intent to start recording Launch Waze
When "stop=:drive" AutoRemote message received
Turn off WiFi Use intent to stop recording Wait 5 seconds Kill DashCam app Use intent to stop Waze
NOTE: I am using intent to kill waze in order to have a clean exit which will resume navigation upon waze re-launch
When I'll get home, I'll try to export my profiles from both phones and post it here, but this should get you started. Let me know if you have more questions
You can do such thing with Wifi connect for tasker plugin.
If Connections Optimizer is frozen and you've "forgotten" your neighbor's wifi, I'm at a loss as to why your phone would be connecting to it.
I use this Tasker plugin to force connection to my 5 GHz wifi - WiFi Connect for Tasker
And I use this one to launch the task by scanning an NFC tag - Locale NFC Plugin
Bit of a subtle point, if you're going to be triggering Tasker tasks off of NFC tags, you'll want to use Titanium to freeze the system app "Tags" which normally responds to scans of empty NFC tags with a warning message. Or this Xposed framework module achieves the same effect.
Best of luck!
I use the WiFi Connect for tasker plugin to take care of wifi
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.meridiani.apps.wificonnect
Use this plug-in directly in tasker
So you go into settings and forget the network, then it comes back somehow as a network your device tries to connect to? Hmm...
In Tasker the way to go about it would be to setup a Profile that uses State > Wifi > WORK-WIFI Invert
Which will trigger when you disconnect from work wifi, then link it to a Task that immediately tries to reconnect to WORK-WIFI and perhaps loop it over and over until it happens to get back onto WORK-WIFI.
The way to do that (as Tasker doesn't have a built-in Action to force a Wifi connect) is to use a plugin, either Wifi Connect for Tasker or the new AutoTools alpha plugin from AutoApps.
Either one should be able to be used in your Task to just keep trying to re-connect back to WORK-WIFI.
And to only have it active when you're near the work wifi, you can add an additional context to the Profile of WifI Near "WORK-WIFI".
