Hi there, I have an 04 and used the chicken dance from Prius chat to program a key I bought on Amazon. It's worth noting that I understand it has to be a brand new key. It took me about three tries to program the car as things have to be done fairly quickly. Good luck:)
I got this one had it for about three months now and it’s been really good
> it seems like the key isn’t cut to be tailored to the car. It’s just a straight plain key
I had some more thoughts.
1. Call Toyota Service, tell them physical key on the keyfob is straight and not etched, and ask them uf it's possible to get it made into a new key. I know toyota cam make a new key from the VIN, I don't know if you can get just the physical etching or not.
2. I remembered, I did create a new key myself, I ordered this replacement off anazon then I programmed it doing something they call "the chicken dance" in the review section:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0089KNGNQ/
But, I did have a working key, and the car was unlocked.
I don't know if any of this would help, just thought I would share anything that might help Looks like the dealership can make a new key but it's $200-$400.
Some people are having luck with this.
STAUBER Best Honda Key Shell... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L0VW5DM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Get these come in a two pack. The reuse all the parts of a broken key and fob so no cuting or reprogramming. Been working good for about two years for me.
I have this from Amazon that I really like. Fits perfectly and has a really solid keyring that connects directly to the key fob so no risk of falling off: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08N4WWC71/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_GZAY8BMEFDPTZ7ZDDS5Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I paid $14 for my keyless entry kit from Amazon. Works great. Like 3 or 4 wires for installation.

I've been using this one. It makes the already big fob a little bigger but it has prevented accidental button presses and has held up pretty well so far. Fits very well and looks cool if you're into the faux carbon fiber look.

Honda dealers are stupid when it comes to keys. The keys from about 10 years ago are awful, and instead of showing goodwill to owners and replacing them at a decent cost, they try to rip you off as much as possible. Get this instead. https://www.amazon.ca/STAUBER-Honda-Replacement-Accord-Ridgeline/dp/B01L0VW5DM
If you want another crappy key, West Coast Locksmiths will do it for around $120 a key.
Silicone covers are great. Got them on the same day I picked up the car.

Definitely aftermarket keyless entry. I just replaced the one in my 98 because they keyfob was lost. Based on the wires you should be able to replace the box plug and play if you can't find key fobs. $12 on amazon

Well my OEM RKE no longer works at all. I bought the one I linked:
and I am hoping to install it this weekend. Since you've done it once before could you explain to me in laymens terms the steps to install it using the wiring from the original RKE module? I'd appreciate it a bunch!
Amazon . I removed the old one from the notch above the rear view mirror, cut the harness and threw some crimps on to connect the wires. I can take some pictures tomorrow if you want.
Amazon turned this up with a search if you search E36 in the questions, it is apparently a capable alternative for our cars. For $20, it seems to have great reviews. A couple forum posts turn up too. The keys that come with UAS are ubiquitous and could be paired with this system too if you wanted.
I ordered the key from Amazon. Brought it to my local Ace hardware to have it cut for $10. I them cut the transponder out of my spare key and installed it into the new key and then programmed the remote, all of which took about 10 minutes.

If you don’t have to take the key out to unlock, lock or start the car it’s a smart key as far as I know. There should be a button near the bottom of the dash in the driver side to turn on/off the SKS system.
This was the key I ordered. The physical key included is blank so it will need to be cut. I had mine done at a nearby hardware store.

Amazon had shells for my RX 330 for $10, check to see if they have one for your car. They have two styles, one that looks like the original and another that is more square and has several screws, I got that kind, it looked stronger.
