How the hell is this 94% upvoted. This isn't a service Uber provides, Ubers don't use a traditional metering service it only takes a few minutes to jump a car, the uber you order might not be able to jump your car if they don't have cables, their car can't jump cars, or if they could just say no.
Anytime I see someone with the hood up on there car just looking around. I ask if they need a jump. I was filling up my windshield fluid the other day someone stopped and asked if I needed a jump.
Local police departments might jump cars through their non emergency number. This will vary department-department and hour-hour if they do since it's low on their list on priorities. But some departments will Protect & Serve.
Here's a real LPT:
Buy a proper 500amp jump starter that doubles as a tire pump and massive back up battery for phones. And you won't need to rely on cellular service, AAA, Uber, or a random act of kindness to save your ass when you're stranded. (Some even have a DC converter with adapters to directly power laptops/DVD players so you could glamp with it. I just linked the first Amazon link.)
Not hard. Do you want the super easy and lazy way?
Get a battery tender quick disconnect and then get the usb port that plugs directly into it.
Quick disconnect: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-081-0069-6-Terminal-Disconnect/dp/B000NCOKZQ
You can actually buy them now, they're called smoke buddies. That thing saved my life when living in a dorm, it's incredibly effective.
This isn't essential for prepping but it is such a damn good value, for $35 you get an ozark Multiforce multitool from Walmart which has been reviewed as being better than the Leatherman Wave+ which usually retails for about $100.
Battery bank and/or NOCO jump starter (1000 Amp should be plenty unless you know their vehicle requires more: https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GB40-UltraSafe-Lithium-Starter/dp/B015TKUPIC/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=noco+jump+starter&qid=1608418658&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyNFNLQkxESU9MNlJZJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjQ0Mjg3MVpDU1E0SElVV0wxTyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNDE3ODA3MThZUzlQQzAwWks1NSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=)
Last Suggestion: silver/gold what prepper doesn't love silver/gold either coins or bars works.
If only I had been smart enough in college to be like "hey, instead of stuffing dryer sheets into a toilet paper roll, we should lace carbon filters inside of a plastic tube and sell it to stoners"
Or just $25.00 every day at Amazon
I used Noico 80 mil.
Sound from my catback exhaust is reduced in the cabin. I was surprised to see how thin the material and lack of insulation in the trunk.
I will definitely soundproof the doors as well when I upgrade my speakers
I keep a jumper box in my vehicle at all times, it works wonders and theres no way to harm your car at all.

Something like one of these: https://smile.amazon.com/NOCO-GB40-UltraSafe-Lithium-Starter/dp/B015TKUPIC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1545723509&sr=8-4&keywords=jumper+box
Lots of different answers. The correct short answer is “no”.
The slightly longer answer is, only if the charging system puts out enough current at idle RPM to overcome the current draw of the ignition system, the lights, the fuel pump, and and other misc electrical stuff that’s on while your bike is running as well as replenishing all the juice used up by starting the bike in the first place.
The faster the engine runs, the more current made by the charging system. Excess current is bled off as heat by the regulator-rectifier. Why would a manufacturer build a charging system that always makes more energy than needed at cruising RPM by building one that delivers net-positive flow at idle? 😉
Buy a trickle charger for $20 and either hook it to the battery while it’s in the bike, or remove the battery and bring it inside somewhere and hook it up and leave it for the winter. (Battery Tender on Amazon)
If you don't own a jump starter and aim to buy one for the trip, I picked this one up from Amazon about a year ago. Haven't had a need to start a car yet, but it's powered my CPAP on camping trips, powered my kid's tablet on janky 12hr road trips and every other external power hack I could think of. It's Prime eligible, has USB connections, has great reviews and has worked like a champ.
I'm going to be driving from Oregon to Connecticut, via Los Angeles, Grand Canyon, Omaha, Des Moines and Myrtle Beach this October. Totally going to be cribbing everyone's answers here.
No, the car has a “battery tender” (basically a built-in version of one of these) that will top off the 12v battery when it detects that the charge has dropped slightly. If the car isn’t plugged in, it’ll connect the main battery for a little while to do that.
The reason there’s a 12v at all is basically as a buffer, so that the 12v components can be active without the main battery having to be connected continuously. It’s an important safety feature that the main battery disconnects when it’s not needed.
Buy your neighbors one of these - Smoke Buddy 0159-BLU Personal Air Filter, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00478UIB2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_SB4FQ3JHBAJH19H0WTAH
Works quite well in my experience, hopefully they wouldn’t be offended and use it. Otherwise, buy lots of candles 😂
I have one of these and it is great. The good thing is after you jump yourself you can just plug it into your 12v USB port and top it back off. And you can still jump other people too.
https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0123-Junior-Charger/dp/B000CITK8S/ You need to do a little work to install the leads to your battery. You dont need to keep it on all winter, just a day or two every few weeks. It keeps your battery topped off and healthy so it lasts longer. EDIT: This one is cheap and works fine for a motorcycle. There are much better ones, but in a pinch this works great.
Sounds like a weak battery. Running around before you put it back on the trailer topped the charge of the battery off and then what you started it at home (and I would imagine it starts easier when it's not in the water, as the started isn't having to pump water water through the jet drive, though I'm not sure if that actually makes a significant difference).
Charge the battery up and take it to an auto parts store and they'll be able to test the battery for you and tell you if it's good or not.
I leave my sea doo on a battery maintainer/trickle charger when it sits for any significant amount of time. I use a Noco Genius Model, there are certainly less expensive brands available, but supposedly these have some extra monitoring/charging tech. Most people recommend 2 or less amp charging for a jet ski, meaning that one of these should be perfect.
Honestly, ditch the jumper cables and get yourself a jump starter battery pack that doubles as a phone charger. That way it can serve more than 1 purpose. Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GB40-UltraSafe-Lithium-Starter/dp/B015TKUPIC
There is a 400A option that is half the price if you don't think you'll ever need to jump a diesel.
The number of times I stopped to help jump someone has gone up now that it doesn't take as much effort to do so. No more playing car tetris to get the batteries to line up right. Plus a jump pack lets you be more self-sufficient and not need a 2nd vehicle around to do the jump.
I recommend this one. Has been superb for me after getting a cheap 15$ one and it failed.
I have 2 cars I don't drive. I thought hey I'll just use one trickle charger and charge the other battery every so often. Well life does what life does and suffice to say I now have one perfect battery and a dead battery.

Completely perfect fitment surprisingly for being from Amazon. They're stuck on by double sided tape. A bit of wind noise but nothing outrageous. I also like them because it deletes the chrome trim around the top of the windows. You can find them here
OP, listen to this guy.
If you have an outlet within 20 feet of the car, you can install a battery tender harness on your battery terminals, and hook the battery tender right up to it. Ideally you could even fish the end out through the grille an inch and zip tie it for easy access.
Easy to deal with and will keep your battery charged when you need it, without having to take it out of the car. My vehicles have all been on tenders all year because of COVID, and even in normal times they’re great for motorcycles, boats, weekend/summer car, etc
I would start of at first by recommending they get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Smoke-Buddy-0159-BLU-Personal-Filter/dp/B00478UIB2/ref=pd_bxgy_img_3/141-1765949-1655566?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00478UIB2&pd_rd_r=4ff95ef7-1386-40ea-a605-ad1aaed67c04&pd_rd_w=tl7UR&pd_rd_wg=jll2m&pf_rd_p=f325d01c-4658-4593-be83-3e12ca663f0e&pf_rd_r=NQ7QWESBNRZDXAFHNHXT&psc=1&refRID=NQ7QWESBNRZDXAFHNHXT

From my personal experience someone who indulges in the "devils lettuce" is not going to like it when you tell them they can't partake anymore specially in their own bedroom they pay for. That's why I beleive you are better off accepting that they smoke and help/assist them keep the smell away. For starters, you could order one of these yourself and give it to her as a gift, I'm sure she wouldn't mind using such a simple device, specially if you gift it. TBH she will prolly be more likley to use it so there are less issues about it going forward.
My 2 cents.
I wish I could help you but I'm in a different state at the moment. :/
I recommend on top of jumper cables you purchase a battery jump starter. Amazon
Get a trickle charger, battery tender jr at walmart. Charge overnight, done.
I get Free overnight from Amazon on some things. Might be worth a shot https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0123-Junior-Charger/dp/B000CITK8S
I keep the GB40 in my glove box. It can also act as a phone charger if needed.
https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GB40-12-Volt-Portable-Gasoline/dp/B015TKUPIC
I got these rain visors
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YSTD1GV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ww5gFbWHAWA5A
And the prinsu so far has been amazing. I had the oem ones but they are more for looks and when it was removed I realized how weak they are compared to prinsu which feels much more durable. Also personally feel like it has more potential and less wind noise.
Inform your landlord about your medical marijuana (they can't evict you on that because you legally can acquire it) and smoke on your front porch
Actually
I used that to smoke inside before I switched to the PAX cartridge; would light a bowl and exhale through that device and it filters out all smoke and smell. I use the bottom of my grinder to snuff the bowl (so it doesn't just burn off and create a smell) and some incense and my landlord was none the wiser
I did my entire Jeep Wrangler myself, with about $100 of this stuff. Works pretty well, and is cheap. If the carpet is out, grab a box cutter and lay it down.
Noico 80 mil (2 mm) 36 sqft (3.4 sqm) car Sound deadening mat, Butyl Automotive Sound Deadener, Audio Noise Insulation and dampening https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00URUIKAK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_J2X6CGRZKNMK9H22ABNJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Otherwise, there is paint on sound deadening that works well too, but it’s about 3-4x as expensive.
Thank you! All black is meaaaan 😎
The rain guards are from the mega thread. I bought the dark smoke version from Amazon
