I just happen to see this mentioned in a video today. It uses its own sensors so no need to tie into the existing ones.
One thing to look out for, is the odometer will need to be documented or carried over. Otherwise you may run into issue later when trying to sell it.
SAMDO Universal Motorcycle Speedometer Odometer Tachometer RPM Speedometer Gauge 199 Kph Mph for Carburetor Motor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078R1TN12/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7JQ54ZC8D0K9G38C3S2R?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
i got it on Amazon. I came from a first generation mazda 3 which had a temperature gauge on the dash, when i switched to the third gen I was disappointed to see they got rid of the temperature gauge in favor of the simple blue/red temperature light to indicate low/high temperatures. On my specific gauge, i configure it to show oil temp in the middle, coolant temp in the bottom left, and IAT in the bottom right as I run an aftermarket intake and like to monitor heat soak when it’s hot out. The gauge itself can monitor numerous metrics and plugs right into your OBD-2 port. Oil/coolant/intake temps, throttle input, gas mileage, ignition timing, engine load, battery voltage, etc. Basically anything your car’s computer reads, the gauge can display. Not to mention it also doubles as a engine trouble code reader and clearer. All of that for the low low price of about $45. Try replacing the VSS, located on your transmission, right under the plastic air intake pipe. If that doesn't fix it, then your gauge is dead like mine. Instead of getring a new cluster, i installed a micro usb powered digital speedo that displays the an LCD reading of your speed. Pricey, but probably cheaper than getting a cluster and simple to set up https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005X4QCAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_smMcGbB2MHH0B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
here's the one i bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005X4QCAA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Apparently you can also project it to your windshield.
Got a Samdo Tach and got everything labeled on it and on the KLR correct (I think).
I ordered a bare 9 pin plug (male/female) and wired it today but wires are not quite matching up (def not plug n play). It looks like I need to tap into a few other harnesses possibly.
Question would it be best to just run butt connectors as direct connects then shrink wrap or electrical tape them?
When wiring my new led turn signals I only have a left and right wire coming from the tach and have a pair coming from each turn signal (8 total) how can I pair these down and maintain the correct load? I have resistors as well if need be.
Here's a link to the Speedo. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078R1TN12/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_clQcFbQMEB91X
Appreciate any insight you guys can offer. This is a cluster f*ck ha..
Cheap ones read vac. The intake has no vac lines on an ecoboost it’s through a sensor. You have to plumb one in. Or get an obd2 boost gauge.
You have to add it to the engine.
Or get one of these.

Which use the obd2 port.
I've seen a couple of Garmins over the years that seemed pretty cool. Etrex I think they're called. The high end you have the Trail Tech's. Those are really sweet. But for just a speedo function I've seen this thing. I've never owned one so I have no idea as to how it installs or how it'll hold up but its small and inexpensive and would mount real nice to the bars.
I bought this one, but there's cheaper ones that have good reviews if you just look up GPS HUD.
Edit: also if you could tell it does lag behind just a little bit. So it's accurate, but if you want a super accurate one, get the obd2 hud. They'll read off the car's speedometer.
But usually you stick a polarized screen thing to the windshield so you can see it better.
Just get something like this
They are easy to install and use GPS for your speed.
Sorry im on mobile and couldn't format the link
