He's a rookie so he might not know you can get a table for your self-driving car's steering wheel. Here's the one I use when I'm busy watching the backgammon matches, enjoying my arby's, and sexting with Denver Post Opinion Columnist Mark Kiszla while my car is autonomously driving large loops around the greater metro area.
Time to invest in one of these bad boys
I bought this to put a phone cubby between the shifter and passenger seat. I've got a small coiled cable to reduce the clutter.
Whenever I feel like life is getting me down, I read this review (or watch the Aww Joby video) and whatever I was thinking about before that point is pretty much chased away by laughter. I think it was on some post (can't remember where) that had a bunch of funny Amazon reviews.
This was another product they listed, almost all of the reviews are priceless... https://www.amazon.com/AutoExec-Wheelmate-Steering-Attachable-Surface/dp/B00E1D1GY6#customerReviews
Enjoy!
Lol anytime I want to belly laugh, I read the reviews for this book.
If you like reviews, check out the ones for this steering wheel desk.
Make sure to sort by 1 and 2 star, and also check out customer images.
Near perfect product! 5 stars if they update this with a cup holder since I'm too lazy to reach a few inches for my drink. After work I'm always stuck in rush hour of traffic so when I'm not getting compliments while using this product with my electronics. I'm helping the fiancé cut vegetables for dinner. Please be very careful since I wasn't paying attention one evening and rear ended the car in front and causing the air bag to deploy which lead to being in paled by a knife in the shoulder. I've learned from my mistakes and no longer use it as a cutting board and strictly use it with my electronics.
Pros:
Great for use with Electronics
Great for reading
Naps with use of a pillow when the car is not in motion
Looks great while driving. I get compliments daily.
Cons:
No cup holders
Not cushioned - not helpful when i decide to nap on my drive. When the car swerves the pillow slides out and I hit my my face on the table. anyone have a DYI on attaching a pillow?
I use one of these. They have more expensive ones that have a post that bolt underneath the seat rail but you have to be turned a little and wasn't comfortable for me after a while.
I don't have home charging (condo) and no longer have level 2 charging at work after changing jobs. I usually rely on DCFC, mainly because I got a ton of evGO credit from Chevy instead of a home charger installation.
For road trips, I make the 335 mile trip (each way) monthly or so to visit my family. It is definitely frustrating that we can't charge as fast as other vehicles, but I've had good success with Electrify America stations being in safe locations with at least a couple fast food options nearby. If I start with a full charge, I can stop once for an hour and make it the rest of the way without stopping again.
A game changer for me has been the purchase of a steering wheel desk/table. I don't mind chilling in the car while it's charging and it's nice to have an accessible surface for eating and using my laptop. My go-to chargers happen to have free wifi from nearby businesses.
What you really need is one of those tray tables that attaches to the steering wheel so that when you go get your fast food in your exurban dystopia you can have a nice eating spot in your driver's seat and out of the sun.
So then you can look down at all the plebes in the parking spots next to you who are balancing their burger cartons on their knees.

Sadly your Model 3 will not have "biohazard defense mode" for the hazy days, need a bigger Tesla for that.
YO! I'M ALSO IN CM AND WORKING NIGHT SHIFTS! Yaaaayyy
Not.
It sucks. It's so hard to live a normal life working nights, especially when I've got kids.
But - I'm doing it. I'm studying over the course of 6 months instead of 6 weeks. Little by little.
I take the PE in 2.5 weeks! Eeeek!
I also spend a lot of time working out of my "truck" on the construction site.
But honestly - I find it so hard to study in the dark, at 1 am, cramped in my vehicle. My brain is just... not at 100% in the middle of the night.
I study during the day after I wake up, like 1pm - 3pm, and then go work my night shift.
So, life is basically "night shift - study for exam - night shift - study - night shift - study", which sucks, but it's temporary.
We got this!
I bought these and they’ve been so clutch especially with all the little divider inserts.
Phone, sunglasses, wallet, notebook, pens, leatherman, etc.
They wedge in pretty tight and nothing really shifts around or rattles.

This tray fits and accommodates the bump so you can immediately smash your food when the dining rooms are all closed for COVID.
I got this idea from a previous post so can’t take credit. Works really well. Forester Phone holder

For those of you still wanting to game while you drive, just set your gaming laptop on the steering wheel with this. Disclaimer: It takes some time to get used to and you can't make 90 degree turns.

I use this for computer and eating. it’s basically a platform with its base resting on the armrest and the door side armrest

I have this for charging and throw my laptop on it to work if I'm in the mood. The laptop charges from the USB-C as well. So yeah, it's quite nice to be able to charge stuff.
The side surface is nice, but I prefer this for eating or laptopping (not at the same time): https://www.amazon.com/lebogner-Steering-Notebook-Constant-Travelers/dp/B07MG12QMX
After hours of Googling for something just like this - I found your post. A couple of questions, if you don't mind.

Overall - this is amazing. I had previously thought about trying to do something like this, but backwards and on my desk chair, if that makes sense. Would probably be cheaper, but would look it.
Get yourself a stand for your laptop while you’re at it
I know it’s not meant to be used while driving, but you know someone has done it.
Brought to you be the makers of The Steering Wheel Desk
Two questions! Have you considered a desk that attach to your steering wheel? Some great customer pictures and reviews of such a product here.
Other question: I have a chance to become a driver manager, how do you feel about them? Getting ready to be fresh out of college and this is a job offer I have.
Drivers are, however, doing all of the following - and I have a hard time believing any of them are accidental:
The list goes on. Don't do these things and, magically, you're a lot more careful.
> That's just dumb. If it wasn't useful, there wouldn't be a market.
Pet rocks. Goldfish. This laptop shelf that affixes to your steeringwheel:

I have a suction mount on the windshield but usually keep my phone out of view in one if these, mounted in the gap between the center console and passenger seat:

Quality is very good and these are far better than the "soft" style you often find at stores. Also, I used the included gap foam padding to cut a pad for the inside of the tray. Keeps the phone cushioned and from sliding around. These are sold in a two pack, so you get an extra for another car or to share with a friend.
