Here is a pic of my Index and a link to the amazon carbon fiber vinyl wrap I used.
I used a some 3M vinyl faux carbon fiber wrap I bought off amazon. Here's the link to what I used -
3M 1080 CF12 BLACK CARBON FIBER 60"x12" Vinyl Flex Wrap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0058DIDTY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_HX3WybXGBKWFA
The outside of your machine is not at the temperature of your steam boiler, or else you would burn you hand immediately on touching it. I wrapped my Linea 2 Group with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00598U2EM and it has held up fine.
You can unscrew them from the inside of the hood. I bought 3M Matte Black Vinyl from Amazon (Link: https://www.amazon.com/3M-M12-MATTE-BLACK-Vinyl/dp/B00598U2EM). Once they are off the car you stick the wrap on and screw them back on. I’ve had it on for about a month and so far it’s holding up perfect.
Back in the 80s, I blacked out my car’s bumpers with 3M decal tape. If you have the patience to remove the plastic bits and reinstall them, that may be the neatest approach.

Thanks! The snow edition won't be available for a couple of months so I bought 3M white vinyl and wrapped the glass panes myself covering the black areas. If anyone wants to attempt this, I bought it on Amazon. It comes with more than you'll need so I had to practice some before it was good enough. Use a sharp Xacto knife (or if you have access to a paper cutter, those things in school that were heavy af), and a metal ruler. Cut extra so you can pull the vinyl around the edges and wrap it to the back.
I got this. You’ll need a heat gun or at minimum a hair dryer.
LZLRUN 3D Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap - Outdoor Rated for Automotive Use - 12 inches x 60 inches Contain Knife and Hand Tool (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007OXCIB0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_Hp0aGb8V5S199?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Nope it's the white edition. I used this 3M white vinyl and used a sharp Xacto knife and a metal ruler to cut and wrap the panels so it looks like the Snow Edition. Good thing the vinyl comes with a decent amount cause it took some practice to get it right.
I don't think the Snow Edition is releasing until April.
This is just the normal white edition! But with this 3M vinyl wrap, a sharp X-acto knife, and a good metal ruler, you can make your own Snow edition by wrapping the black bars on the glass panel.
Here’s the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007EEW76A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_zmB.FbV70FTYE
I don’t think it’s yellowish, but it’s a bit glossy compared to the other already white panels of the case. Not really noticeable though unless you look from the top or the back. I tried my best not to overlap layers, so there isn’t much of that, but if I look close enough I can see where a strip of vinyl ends and another strip begins. It’s totally not perfect, but cool with me till they hopefully sell the Snow! Best of luck and post a pic of your build when you’re done!
I used this vinyl with a really sharp X-acto knife and a metal ruler. I would cut the strips a little longer and wider, then tuck in into the ridges behind and stretch the corners (cause they overlap). To line it up, I would look at the tape from the back where you can actually see the factory paint line and try to get it as straight as possible before committing.
This is all kinda hard to explain, it comes with a decent amount of vinyl to practice with, I had to redo several areas once I understood what I had to do better, I have never really wrapped anything in vinyl before. Just be sure to have a really sharp X-acto knife for cutting and a good metal ruler. Even better if you have access to a big paper cutter.
It's actually the backplate that came with the phone, I just bought a roll of carbon fiber vinyl, applied it with the help of a space heater, and then "trimmed" the edges, which was almost more like shaving off the excess. Worked way better then I expected TBH.

You could try automotive vinyl. You can get rolls off amazon. 3M makes a matte black one, looks exactly like the top lid on my T450s.
You could also flock it but that's a slightly more permanent solution, and you'd have to make sure that the powder doesn't go where it shouldn't.
I actually wrapped that, the shifter boot trim, the interior door panel trim and the ac trim with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007OXCIB0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Matches the stock carbon wrapped dash trim well.
I put a carbon fiber vinyl on the cover and then put the stickers on that. Easier to remove them all if you have to. On rare stickers I scan them and then print a copy on sticker paper that way I keep the original plus I can resize them too.

Chromatic vinyl
I didn't get mine from Amazon but here is a similar one. If you have a hair dryer/heat gun you can coat almost anything.
VINYL FROG Chameleon Vinyl Wrap Matte Metallic Vehicle Film Purple to Blue Stretchable Air Release DIY Decals 12"x60" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077GTBGWB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_CKJ5MJRKQECBHZXSR9K0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I'm thinking of just buying a roll of this similar looking vinyl wrap and cutting them myself. It looks pretty much the same as the "carbon fiber" touch pad covers that are being sold separately? If I buy the roll instead, I'll have a lot of extras in case they wear out.
Take some inexpensive white vinyl and cut circles to cover the fan hubs.

I ordered 1 of the 5x1 of this wrap:

It is the cherry red tintcoat 😀
I don't have a very steady hand and I've never done anything like this before (last time I used a can of spray paint was over a decade ago) so I was incredibly nervous that I'd fuck it up, but it turned out better than I was expecting. I was worried that the paint would be patchy but this stuff worked wonderfully. No streaking or unevenness after 3-4 layers.
Here is the wrap I used to "combine" the two bumper parts. The 1'x5' option was just the right amount. Stuck straight to the bumper piece with no heat required. Ended up eyeballing the curvature of the end pieces because I didn't have a protractor handy. I think it looks pretty even but then again I'm not the best judge of these kind of things haha.
I used painters tape to mask off the bumper but somehow still managed to get a little bit of paint where it wasn't wanted. Came right off with a little bit of Turtle Wax Scratch & Swirl remover and a microfiber cloth.
Lastly I'm not satisfied with how the logo blackout turned out. The paint worked great for the grille but streaked and bubbled heavily. Took several layers, along with some buffing with more of the Turtle Wax stuff to smooth out the bubbles. Still not 100% satisfied but the flaws aren't really noticeable anyway unless you get up close and scrutinize the vehicle.
Anyway what do you think?
Here is the link for the wrap I used. Agreed, if only we could wrap that part too, that’s why I decided to keep on the transparent film that came with the car lol
I used 3M automotive vinyl wrap. Here’s the link in case you’re interested. 3M 1080 Matte Black 5’x1’ As far as advice goes, just try and watch as many wrapping videos to get familiar with how to do inside corners and use a sharp exacto knife.
Are you putting vinyl on this or just going for a conservative black? You might consider this carbon fiber wrap. It's all weather resistant and it looks even better in person.

I wrapped it with something like this https://www.amazon.com/LZLRUN-Carbon-Fiber-Vinyl-Wrap/dp/B007OXCIB0/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Carbon+Fiber+Wrap&qid=1635250364&sr=8-4 and a hair dryer. I don't have sweaty hands but I can feel the grip now. Cheers!
I used vvivint vinyl they have their + premium line and it’s only like $2 more but it’s worth it felt easier to install/cut & had better air bubble release. A 1x5’ was enough for a ps5 ,controller & a laptop

My buddy actually bought it and mentioned it to me, but I’m sure he just bought some off Amazon.
