You need a snotsucker. It has a filter so that the snot does not make it into your mouth.

I have used it on both my kiddos.
Dude I know it’s kinda gross but the nose frida is AMAZING and waaaayy more sanitary than a bulb syringe. 10/10 will suck boogers again.

Get one that attaches to your vacuum. Had a pediatrician recommended this one
Turbo-powered baby snot sucker. I have asthma and the parent-powered ones just didn't work for me. This thing, you can position it against the nostril, push the button, and the boogers come flying out.
Hi! Condiment bottles were a must for liquid food (smoothies, purées) and syringe for water—I just used the syringes I was given from the hospital. In the early days, I would use cheese cloth to strain my smoothies before putting them in my syringe/bottle—this made it easier to syringe and prevents tiny seeds (esp strawberry) from getting into the incisions, might be overkill but that’s just what I did. Yes to baby spoons. Once you graduate from bottles/syringes you won’t be able to fit a regular spoon. I didn’t use my humidifier, I bought it but never needed it. Probably don’t need a pill crusher if you have liquid meds.
The most important part of my comment: get one of these it’s a lifesaver for the weeks of congestion!!! I used this the most out of anything I bought. You do need someone to help you but it’s the most effective to get rid of congestion when you can’t blow your nose

8 months old is an infant? He was crawling and cruising at 7 months. I’ll clean my kids orifices how I see fit
Our baby girl is oxygen dependent and will be her whole life. We've been home from the NICU for 3 1/2 weeks. These are things that have made my life easier.
Know your babies patterns if she is going home with a monitor. It will help with a lot of stress. I learned that my little one desats and her heart rate goes up momentarily while she poops and that saved us a lot of anxiety.
Get at least one if not 2 extension tubes from your oxygen company. They will make life so much more mobile. If you only need it for travel then ask for the small travel tanks! They're pretty small!!
If you have two floors, many companies will provide you with 2 concentrators, one for each floor, so you don't have to deal with even more tubing.
We hated seeing the stickers on lilys face so we use tegaderm. You can buy it on Amazon in a roll and then just cut small strips. We tape her cannula down by her ears.
Cannulas will get dirty so make sure you watch for gunk build up.
Our little one gets pretty congested from her cannula as well and this is the only suction that works (and we have a hospital grade suction too)

If you go home with a monitor you'll get used to it :) it's actually quite nice!
And like others said, your babe may need light/noise to sleep because of the NICU. Ours sleeps with a dim light on and then her concentrator makes noise but we also have a music box to help her sleep.
If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to reach out!
I have theFrida 3 in 1 Picker that i use on my baby to clean his ears, nose, and under his nails (though haven't had to use that yet)
This is going to sound crazy but it works well and is surprisingly gentle. It is a nasal aspiration that connects to your vacuum. When I have mucus I just can’t clear, it is a life saver. I use it sparingly but it feels so good when I do.

This is a miracle worker. Make a nice steamy shower and hold kiddo, I used to wear a wife beater in shower because babies are slippery. After shower or maybe even during the mucus is way easier to get out. Keep kiddo upright tho, it helps is your SO is in the bathroom to help with all that but it’s possible to do alone.
nose frida works wonders than the bulb.
We got this one. It also makes the whole process much faster. He still screams like we are torturing him, but for less time.
Nasal aspirators for babies have been around for literally decades, probably close to a century. These people are complete idiots.
here you go! it was cheap, it’s effective, and I like that the tip is longer so you can get deeper into the nares than you can with a frida!
douching without a douche is tough. when i didnt have a douche, i used a bulb syringe, like the thing used to suck up baby boogers. if you’re just looking for something to squirt warm water in your butt, then something like this might work. (you dont have to get those ones exactly, the link is just to give you an idea)
Same, battery plus Saturn mist = 1000x easier. This one has lights and sounds that our lil one doesn’t cry to:

Get this one! I have bought 3 and I buy them for all my Prego friends
We’ve got one like this (style; not a specific recommendation): https://www.amazon.com/BoogieBulb-Baby-Aspirator-Newborns-Toddlers/dp/B00L4MJEC8
It has to seal around the nose and be able to get in there a little.
With three kids (1-3-7) I’ll be honest and say I’ve used this thing like five times but it was a life saver. When the kiddos are sniffling or so much nose junk is flowing down their face I’ll use it to get them some sleep.
Other than that; I don’t use it for anything. Unless there’s a lot of material in there and it’s wet they aren’t going to do much.
I like the Nose Frida but my husband likes this electric one When they get a bit older, the Oogiebear is awesome.
It's called a nose frida and definitely takes some trust factor for the little booger filter thing. But honestly between that and a screaming infant at 3 am I'm suckin boogs yo. Baby
Nasal Aspirator NoseFrida- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N093BYV/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_6DV4Z1Y8P6HEWGTX8M63?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I just ordered the FridaBaby 3-in-1 Nail, Nose and Ear Picker last week and it was exactly what I needed! The sucker didn't work at all. This tool at least helps me get her booger to the opening of her nostril and I can wrangle it with a tissue. I swear these boogers are embedded in their tiny brains.
WWWWWWHHHHHHYYYYYYY???!!!??
They already have fucking nasal aspirators on the market that don't require gross shit like this
Is there some sort of empty-soul breeder contest for which parent can go the extra mile of nasty for their kid??!! 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
We love this one. LO is also mesmerized by it so it’s way easier than the manual kind since I don’t have to trap a tiny human to use it.

For the congestion I would recommend this nose aspirator, it’s great for suctioning those tiny baby boogers. Hang in there momma!! 💪🏼
If he’s really stuffy and you feel like the typical nose sucky isn’t working there is a thing call a baby nose vac that you attach to your vacuum and it is awesome. Our pediatrician recommended it to me when our little has some congestion earlier this year. So a little saline and this thing can move some snot!
