i think you are thinking of a different kind of rubber ball. they are identical to regular baseballs in weight and size, they are cork centered, wound, etc. it's just the covering is rubber/plastic, not leather.

Kids play with balls. They even jump over locked fences . It’s what they do.
Why not be the good guy, and defuse the whole problem? Balls are cheap. Neighborhood relations are not.

Predrill pilot holes if you want/need a melee weapon to have nails sticking out of it, but if you use it in that manner you might be facing jail time for using it on someone, check your local laws. I keep a second one duct taped near the driver's seat of my van, because, hey, you never know when a baseball game might suddenly break out.

Hammer gets stuck.
The Cold Steel Crusher is quite possibly the best melee weapon for zombies. Won't get stuck, won't break, not too long/short. Really though, a blunt weapon around 2 feet long is probably the best bet.
There are cheap alternatives to micro plates. I bought a couple 20 ounce bat weights on sale and they fit the bar perfectly. Others use weighted wristbands, lengths of chain, or they'll put a 2.5 lb plate on one side of the bar and swear they don't notice the imbalance.

They're stated to be 1.25 pounds. I weighed them and they're close enough. Also, they fit snugly on an olympic barbell, so no worries of it falling off. A bit expensive, but easy to buy and use.

But you're buying in bulk. Single baseballs can be pricey because most people buy them in dozens or by the bucket. Amazon is selling this ball for $5.69 right now. And an official MLB ball is ~$20. Also, again, it's the UK Amazon. I'm thinking baseballs aren't really commonly bought there so higher prices are expected to ship over an unpopular item overseas.
Ah yes...the crowbar isn't really necessary, also I just bought a baseball bat from Cold Steel that also isn't very necessary. Those two additions are more because I watch a lot of 'The Walking Dead'.
I would have a pistol in there too but I am a FL resident living in PA for school and you can only buy long guns as an out-of-state resident.
