Due to personal interest, I've read some of Peterson's work. I've not sure he represents the faction of psychologists concerned with the discipline's notorious and existential replicability crisis.
He seems rather content to discuss the Christian Logos and attempt to understand how religion shapes culture. A peculiar topic for a psychologist and is no doubt rife with methodological complexity requiring exceptional detail to procedure. Well, one hopes.

With the caveat that it is absolutely best to work through these issues with a professional, I realize that's not always a feasible or comfortable option. This workbook is one of the tools I'm using with my therapist that might be helpful.
I think Aaron James' unpacking of what it is to be an asshole captures the psychology of the sorts of people I've personally interacted with who don't want to comply with guidelines issued by the relevant experts. They:
(1) allow themselves special advantages and they do so systematically
(2) do this out of an entrenched sense of entitlement; and
(3) are immunized by their sense of entitlement against the complaints of other people

Bessel's the Bomb. Pete Walker's book is useful, as well. Lately I've been recommending Arielle Schwartz's workbook. It's a very good "launchpad."
Your subconscious mind is the part of you that's beneath what you're aware of. It's the bit that sees the snake at your peripheral vision before you're aware of it and makes you jump. It's the bit that makes you dream at night. It's the bit from where random thoughts pop into your awareness and you don't know why. Why am I thinking of that memory of grandmother from 20 years ago baking pies? I'm in the middle of traffic, why is it relevant? I'll bet you there is, but it's layered like an onion underneath so much meaning. Your subconscious might be forcing you to think about you being transgender in order to solve a different problem that's eating away at you. Something else related to transformation. Could be a friend going through a tough time. Could be yourself going through adolescence. If you're an adult, it could still want to patch up some remains that were left without closure from back when your body was transforming and you had issues with it. It's a sort of a secondary inner problem solver. It wants to make sense of thing your narrow field of vision and awareness doesn't have the computing power to put together.

Therapy is the best thing and staying away from people who make you feel like you are “too sensitive “ for not being ok with their harmful behaviors. Yes, it helped change my perspective on medication a lot when she said that to me! And I am sorry that you are having such debilitating anxiety... Pretty good, I haven’t given it much more time yet but I did the second exercise and found it was goos as well.
I would say you will get better results from it if you are already in therapy with a trauma informed therapist where you can go over things together or reach out to then if you are having difficulty with what it brings up or if you have been. In therapy and are already aware of how to work through this on your own.

Oh Wow. That is a HUGE trigger. I recommend that you find a therapist while you go through this. Call 3 different Therapists for a pre-session phone chat before you book the appointment. The capacity to make choices evolved gradually. So humans can be described as horrible when they commit atrocities, but animals can make choices as well. There's a good book Freedom Evolves by the philosopher Daniel Dennett. He shows how the ability to make choices gradually evolved.

Hey! Wanted to maybe recommend this workbook for CPTSD. I've been trying to think of other books that have helped me that aren't like Pete Walker's so they'll be more useful for you and that one popped up.
Perhaps Tara Brach and her book Radical Acceptance?
Colin Tipping's Radical Forgiveness is another.... I read so many during the first stages of recovery I have a hard time remember them all, I'll have to go back and reread some of them!

I honestly don't understand why it's not required reading in every single high school in the world. MSFM helped me survive my own father, who is almost exactly like how you've described yours, but also has so much more to offer. I've managed to cut off contact with him for several years now, but the aftermath is still a daily struggle.
I'm open to paying for the book if that's what it takes for you to get it, but I recognize some of my own experience in you and it means a lot to me.

I know the feeling. Growing up being “sent to therapy” was a threat. Took a panic attack and the feeling life was slipping through my fingers to take the plunge. Therapy lead me to the most positive outcome I’ve ever experienced.
If you’re the reading type, Carl Jung (founder of modern psychotherapy) wrote an autobiography and in it he describes what therapy is.
