Yeah, might not be from the album. It'a all I could find on the web with a quick search. This album is on Discogs, in vinyl and CD form. Not sure if you want to hear it that bad. lol.
Apparently it's on Amazon Streaming if you got that.
Damn fine write-up. The only thing I'd add is Drinkin' TNT 'N' Smokin' Dynamite. His performance with Junior Wells at Montreux in 1982. It only became available on Amazon within the last couple of years. I recommend it very highly.
Happy to have introduced you to someone new. There's a very good Taggart compilation called '<em>Been Listening All Day</em>' on Nehi records. That said, Amazon have royally messed up the track names, as he never recorded '*On the Trail of the Lonesome Pin*e'...
(I know the owner of Nehi, so I'm happy to give him a plug from time to time)
I to this day have not been able to find a good vinyl copy of any of his works. I do have one super scratched version I ordered from Ebay but I wish I could have an nice copy.
For now, I bought the MP3 collection of his works but man, it's not the same.
Sigh.
The search continues but thanks man, this is a great track!
That's one of my favorite tracks of his too and I definitely know the vibe you mean. If you've been listening to him for so long I'm sure you've heard the albums In the Wee Small Hours and A Man Alone which are also melancholy but more sappy in general I guess. You might also like The Great Summit by Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. I think you'd also like some Tom Waits, try the tracks "Please Call Me, Baby" "I Hope I Don't Fall in Love With You", "Time", "Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis", "Picture in a Frame", and "How's it Gonna End". Some blues would also fit, maybe some BB King ("Nightlife", "Blues man") or Muddy Waters ("Soon Forgotten", "She's 19 Years Old", "Country Boy", just get this album http://www.amazon.com/Muddy-Mississippi-Waters-Live/dp/B00138JA40/ref=tmm_msc_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=)
Maybe Ellen McIlwaine - Dead End Street. It's part of a great album about blues guitar women (maybe even called that way). I can send you the whole song if you'd like.
Did you know he's also a real life musician? The scenes of him playing piano are actually him playing. He recently released an album of New Orleans blues, and it is most assuredly epic.
