Not the person from above. But, I went though this when I got my puppy too. I went with a relatively cheap one that honestly, for the price I paid ($33), I'm really happy with.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08571VZ3Q/
It works with my Google display in my office (I can say, Ok Google, show me the Miles cam. It will throw it on the display).
Even better it has a bunch of smart detection that work. Cry detection so I get notified if he is crying when I am outside of the house. Also, person spotted if I'm away... which, Is not a bad thing to have if it happens!
The cry detection was really great for me. One time my dad came to pick me up. Miles was just so excited to see him, but then we both left immediately. I left him in the pen w/ a kong. But, he started howling and was incredibly upset. I ended up going back home, spending a few minutes, did a walk, and then let him settle back in the crate. I think he was so upset that he saw my dad, who he loves, but then he immediately turned around and left. I was real glad I had the notifications because he was so upset and not settling for the entire 20 minutes I was gone. However, once I came back, he was fine after I left again.
It looks like it's the cheapo Yi - I have four that I bought on Amazon for $120 during a sale. I have three in my house and one in my shop.
I love it - it even captures audio and mine function great.
These are good quality, easy to use and under $40. Please let us know if you go through with it and find anything else!

Highly recommend , I have 2 of them for my golden pup
Wyze Cam V3 quality is not good.
Get eufy 2k.
Online storage is optional. I would recommend it because it can detect humans and track events where motion occurred.
We got a "security camera" instead of a baby monitor. I found them to be cheaper but better quality on Amazon. The one we got uses an app on our phones instead of a screen piece so I don't have to worry about misplacing it with my mom brain.
Eta: my SO can open the app when he's miles away at work and it works great.
YI Home Camera Wireless IP Security Surveillance System (US Edition) White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016F3M7OM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ySbAzb9Z0AHC1
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X6C9RMF is more info from Amazon.
The biggest thing that I see that would make it better than Wyze is, they will have a separate device where the cam will be able to store clips from 10 different cams, and you use a USB flash drive for local storage.
Think of it as a mini NAS for your cams. It is limited to 64GB though, but don't know if it is a hard limit or not. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084RQ6MHJ
Been saying for a long time that Wyze should have made a device hub like this...
Do it! This is the camera we bought. I still need to find a way to install it inside the tank since the mesh reflects too much ambient light at night to really see him.
I use the Amazon Blink, the cheapest one I think it's like $35. I love it, I have it mounted to look into his kennel for now (9 month Aussie), but we'll probably get another for the main living area when we start leaving him alone in the house. It has motion sensor, audio and you can talk through the camera to whoever.
Only gripe I have is with the motion it will start recording and you can't open live view when it's recording, but I'm sure you can turn off the recording feature.
There is a subscription to save videos to Amazon's cloud service, but I never enrolled cause I don't need to save videos like with house security.
For $35 it does exactly what I need it to do, and it's powered through the wall so don't have to worry about changing batteries. If the power goes out, your wifi won't work anyways to transmit a live feed to you.
Blink Mini – Compact indoor plug-in smart security camera, 1080 HD video, night vision, motion detection, two-way audio, Works with Alexa – 1 camera https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X6C9RMF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QTSDPRSHMHA2KPG2YHVD
Dunno if you've seen, but Amazon has them 40% off right now for Cyber Monday. Maybe you could pick some up and sell the Arlo system separately?

Don't bother. They're not bad but you pay $$$ for the cams and the subscription.
Quite a few of us are using Eufy cams now. Their 2k indoor cams are only about 10 bucks more than Wyze but require no subscription (AI processing for people/pets is done on the cam itself), SD card, much much better image quality and low light quality, MUCH better alerts, etc.

I use this. Works great. Doesn’t come with a SD card. Works with Apple HomeKit too and stores locally. Just plug it in and you can watch from an app on your phone. Night vision too.
Edit: Forgot the link.

I'm personally a fan of my Dahua but they do tend to be on the spendier side. Amcrest gets really good reviews as well, and they have a few in the sub $50 range, including ones that have PTZ.
Similar with PTZ - low light sensors (though not 'starlight' technically)
This one is a bit more but includes a starlight sensor
Note: Higher MP isn't always better. Yes my Dahua are 4k technically but their lowlight - even though they're 'starlight' - aren't as good as 1080p models as the more dense the resolution the worse low light you inherently have (when talking apples to apples in terms of optic/sensor sizes)
But also one reason Wyze can sell for a little less is because their business model encourages things like subscribing to CamPlus which is likely far more profitable for them. I suppose that does make the Wyze Cam v3 somewhat 'cheaper' - but I'd also say you get more with something like an Amcrest.
Regarding camera, I've read a lot of good things on this one. I haven't gotten one yet but most likely will.
On isopods, I read a bit on them on the Hermit Crab Association forums. I got a bit scared off on trying them due to people commenting that they multiplied like crazy. But I do remember reading to get ones that are native to your area so that if you do get an overabundance you can release some to the wild.
I'm still new to owning crabs so I defer to more experienced people for the rest lol.
Don't try to get video/sound recordings through a window, put the camera outdoors.
A/V evidence would be helpful if the authorities don't believe that the unwanted activity is really occurring. It probably won't help if the authorities believe that the unwanted activity is occurring but they don't care or have other enforcement priorities.
Do you have a good angle for your camera? If your footage doesn't show detail that will help in identifying people (license plates, faces, details about dogs or cars or clothing) it probably won't be very helpful.
You should look your state's laws to see if audio recording is legal without the consent of everyone who's being recorded. (If you're going to be doing this from inside your living space, remember that you're likely to end up capturing your own activity, too.)
The cheapest way to do what you're describing is probably a Wyze camera:

Your link looks a little messed up. A direct link would be:
Hahah, yes! It's just a crappy wifi live stream security cam so I can check in on him from anywhere. It's cheap, but it does what I wanted it for. But I'm thinking I might upgrade him to a webcam with a link to that I can share.
Get a wyze camera off amazon. They are affordable and no monthly fees. 100% worth every fucking penny. If they do walk in, call the cops and say someone broke in. Press charges and make sure to check if anything of value has been stolen.
These are the ones I have: Wyze Cam 1080p HD Indoor Wireless Smart Home Camera with Night Vision, 2-Way Audio, Works with Alexa & the Google Assistant (Pack of 2), White - WYZEC2X2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G2YR23M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_mPEUFbJ4ZS32K
I have one in every room except bathroom. When I’m home I point them at the wall (just cause I’m paranoid).
Wow. So just these?
What neighborhood/part of town are you in?
I had a solicitor come by my place not too long ago trying to sell AT&T. I'm fairly certain she was legit as she didn't make any suspicious comments. I don't recall her wearing anything AT&T branded, however.
If you don't have any sort of security system, I can't recommend these Yi Home Cameras ($30 on Amazon) enough. Easy to set-up and controllable with a free app. They'll even alert you when they pick-up movement. Consider picking one (or more) up. You'll also need a microSD card to store video.
Here's one on Amazon.
I’m using the awesome Wyze Cam v2 camera. It has an app on my phone and is also integrated in my smart house so I can watch these babies hatch on my tv!
Maybe you can start out with a Wyze v3
I have a tracking setup running each night.
The Wyze v3 is an amazing little camera.
Depending on how affordable this is for you I would recommend a self monitored camera like a Wyze cam 3. It’s on sale on Amazon for $40 + the purchase of an SD card. You can monitor it yourself with no additional cost and worst case if something happens in the night you’ll have recorded footage of it for police and insurance.
I have one and I’m incredibly happy with it and impressed with the night time vision and customizable settings.
idk if ur in the US or feel comfortable using Amazon but if yes to both apparently this one is on sale https://www.amazon.com/Vision-Indoor-Outdoor-Camera-Assistant/dp/B08R59YH7W/
i dont know shit abt wyze cameras though so do research before getting it
I have a dozen Wyze v3 cams, and they are 'good enough' for a remote location solution, IMO. I pay the $99/year for up to 99 camera's to get the full 'recognition' and 'notification' services. Much easier than trying to do that myself. And most likely cheaper too.

the audio is bad, but the picture is great.
