It's always bugged me that you can only display one side of a set when there's usually interesting details on the back or other side. So, I found a pretty cheap motorized display turntable on Amazon. Completely silent (to my ears) and really adds a cool element to my UCS display. I'll add LED's to it someday...
I bought something like this on amazon that's like... 5 in one. It's a cake stand with a lid, a chip and dip, and a salad bowl, and........2 others.

edit2: wait like 3 of these are the same
Bought it on Amazon :) Very happy with it! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0756ZQX42/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Is that the primer you airbrushed on?
Edit: From one airbrusher to another, I love to give you some tips and advice that will help you out down the road and make your models look amazing. First, when ever painting you need primer so that the paint will stick to the model. While there are airbrush primers, you can also get spray can primer as well. Once you have primed the model, then you can airbrush on your paint. I recommend getting: https://www.amazon.com/Master-Airbrush-Rotating-Diameter-Turntable/dp/B00ATDSA00, this is great for airbrushing and I use one myself. This allows you to rotate the model while you spray. In the case of the tank, after the paint has dryed turn it upside down and then airbrush the tank, this will help you hit all the angles that might have not got hit with paint on the first pass. As for paint, I HIGHLY recommend Game Air or Citadel Air paint, pre mixed paints are great and easy to work with instead of mixing your paints. If you have to use non- airbrush paints, then be sure to mix them with flow improver to get a milk like texture, I do my mixing in a shot glass first before pouring it in the brush, if I have to mix paint. Lastly, be sure to take the brush apart when you are done with painting and give it a good cleaning, airbrush cleaner is a must to own. I hope my advice helps and I am looking forward to seeing your project down the road!
I have this set. I LOVE it! It's nice and heavy and spins very smooth. I recommend it to everyone!
I don't usually do anything special to hold them on to the base. MOST of the time, they stay in place. Occasionally I get a little spin happy and fling one off, but it hasn't happened enough to need to find a solution. You could probably add on a silicone mat to help keep it in place better if you find the need though.
At a friend's wedding a few years ago they had three different cakes, displayed on a stand that kept the layers separate -something like this- everyone got something they liked.
It's a bit pricey as far as cake spinners go, but I use and recommend this one. It's got a nice weight to it and spins like a dream.
Thanks!
I like the way the changing direction shifts the cells around. There are usually areas of... wavy type cells that appear that I think are pretty neat.
I love my cake spinner! I had one of the silicone mat ones that has edges, like what someone would use in a cabinet. That one worked for a while, but the lip prevents you from doing larger canvases. This is the one I have. I recommend it to EVERYONE that tells me they are thinking about getting one. I've done plenty of tiles on mine. With no lip, you do have to be a bit more careful with the spins. I've thrown plenty of canvases off by getting a little over eager.
bought this one 4 years ago. no regrets. still turns like a dream and doesnt wobble. you might want to stick a little drawer liner (the rubber netting stuff) to keep your board from sliding around. and if you need to do larger than a 12" just flip your cake tin upside down over the turner and youre good to go.
Thank you! I mix a LOT of colors, so sometimes the combos get weird 😁
I honestly can't recommend this cake stand enough! I think at least two other people on this sub have this one! It's heavy and spins super smooth.
Mine worked out for the first day, then it started going to crap check out this one a couple of us have it and it works very well and the spin is smooth.
It will be such a game changer you will be so happy!! This is the one I got, I cut out an 8” circle of that grippy stuff that people line their cupboards with (I don’t know what it’s called lol, always find rolls of it at thrift stores) and secure it with double sided tape. Help to keep your cake board from slipping while your scraping and icing

A. You don’t have to order from the book at Publix, if you don’t want to. Talk to the decorator at the store and they will help you come up with a cake you will like. B. Don’t mention the word wedding anytime in wedding planning if you don’t have to. Man, do people love to jack the prices up. C. Another option is to order multiple round cakes and order a cake stand from somewhere like this:
Wilton Pillar Style 3-Tier Cupcake, Dessert, and Cake Stand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HFKMOU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4915ZVH2ZXJM5HMN29QJ
Dress it up with some flowers or fake candles or something, and it will look great without the price of a tiered cake

I use this one. It's kinda pricey, but it's got a great weight, it's metal, and it doesn't have sides so it holds a lots of different sizes.
Get the heavy metal turntable. This is the one I got, really solid: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCBDUUO/
A set of Americolor brand gel colors
If she does cookies, a flat pack of 200 parchment sheets: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08M44G72B/
If she bakes cakes, pre-cut parchment rounds in 8” and 9” sizes
Got a KitchenAid mixer? Buy an extra bowl and paddle. Or a plastic cover for the bowl (keeps dust out between bakes)
Large size OXO POP canisters for flour/sugar.
Rolls of Ateco disposable piping bags (so handy)
Top-shelf ingredients like Guittard Cocoa Rouge
Two sets of measuring spoons, three or four Di Oro silicon spatulas
I know it is pricey for a cake spinner, but I LOVE mine. It's nice and heavy plus it doesn't have the lip that a lot of them do. If you don't mind spending a little more, I highly recommend it
There are a couple of things that come to mind for me. First, I usually find that if I completely seal the cake with frosting it helps to prevent the moisture from escaping. Also, you could cover the cake before you put it in the fridge either using saran wrap and toothpicks inserted into the cake to keep the saran wrap from messing up the frosting as shown here or by using a cake stand with a top like this one. Finally, you could purposely make the cake too moist with a soak to counterbalance the drying out that happens (bonus points because the soak can add extra flavor).
Thank you!! This kit ($40) is what I started with and besides cake pans and piping tips it’s about all you really need in my opinion to make a decent cake! And just practice practice practice-in the last year I’ve seen so much improvement which has been really fun!

Yep, it's the Blue Willow pattern. You can snag it on amazon! Foods just look better to me on a blue or blue-ish plate. It's the contrast, I think.

I said spindle, but meant a rotating cake stand/ table... like a potter's wheel, but for cake decorating... usually on a 3, 4 or 5 inch axle... makes decorating so much easier; and if you get nice ones, you can serve straight from the stand.
I almost always use one of these when doing buttercream cakes. They have to have a very heavy weighted base to work properly. This was a poured ganache cake and would not work with a turn table. Also was my first one I did while in pastry school
