The Amazon description says it has a built in cooling system.
And it's almost $700.
I think this is the $650 100k lumen one like this
edit: someone posted it way faster 3 hours before me so also check out r/flashlight
Boiling isn't always necessary and a good filter can make any water safe to drink. Lifestraw is a solid example:
Wish I could join in but I don't have enough comment karma..
EDIT: Just in case I'm at work and actually get enough karma!
Thanks parametrek!
You should go to a dermatologist to get a proper diagnosis because it really could be anything. That said, an easy thing you can do at home to check whether it's bacterial (aka "normal" acne) or fungal (malassezia) is to look at it under a black UVA light. I got this one on Amazon for $10. If the whiteheads glow orange, they're bacterial, and if they glow blue, they're fungal.
I think you would be happier and more comfortable with something like a Wowtac A2s in that price range.
This is unlikely to be possible. There are basically only two places to buy them, and neither source is likely to arrive within 4 days. Mountain Electronics is located in the US, but it usually takes him a day or two to process an order and then you're waiting for the postal service after that. The manufacturer, Intl-outdoor, is the other source, and shipping is usually a few weeks.
Consider grabbing a Sofirn SP36 with Prime shipping, instead. It's a little larger but has a lot of the same features and capabilities.
> set it on the ground and set up a tent
When I see work to be done, I think "head lamp". Wowtac A2s: 1000lm, 18650 included, USB charge, $30. Works for me. At amazon
Yo get a bright fucking flashlight when wandering around at night. I've scared a few people off who came outta the woods on Textile and started following me.
Highly recommend this one. Comes with a battery, USB charging, and is super bright with a shortcut to strobe mode.
Definitely the most recommended budget friendly headlamp around here. Bright, tough, waterproof, good UI with shortcuts to firefly and turbo, can be used handheld or on a headband, comes with a battery that has a micro USB port for charging, so it’s perfect if you don’t have 18650s and a charger yet.
Here it is, it's $500
IMALENT MS18 Flashlight 100,000 Lumens, 18pcs Cree XHP70 2nd LEDs,Long Throw Up to 1350 meters, with OLED Display and Built-in Cooling Tools https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RSRXDLX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NzFSDbNFR69BP
As you might have guessed, the claimed brightness of your headlamps is a lie. With three XM-Ls and two 18650s, there's a good chance you're getting around 1500 lumens. It's definitely going to have more output than any of the 3xAAA headlamps just because it has several large LEDs and about 8 times the battery capacity (assuming good, new 18650s).
New 18650s would improve performance, but you'd still have a very heavy, low-quality headlamp. Note that I recommend against using the onboard charging in a low-quality headlamp like this because improper charging of Li-ion batteries can cause a fire or explosion. The risk increases as the batteries age, so the fact that it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean you're safe.
Something like a Wowtac A2S might be good for you. I'd suggest neutral white for better color, but it doesn't seem to be offered on UK Amazon. Very low white is preferred over red for preserving night vision in the flashlight community, and the A2S has a 0.3 lumen mode.
Only $18 on Amazon, and 1,000 gallons of clean water... wow
LifeStraw Personal Water Filter for Hiking, Camping, Travel, and Emergency Preparedness https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006QF3TW4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GiB4Cb92S2TQE
Water resistant is the standard around here. You can leave pretty much all of the lights we recommend submerged for at least half an hour.
There's also the A2S if you'd prefer a headlamp.
Is this it?? The low-beams on your car are around 700 lumens... this is 100,000 lol
life-straw, just stick it in a corpse and drink. lifestraw
It's a good light, but is very much designed for people who've been in the hobby a while and understand li-ion cell safety and how to not burn themselves/their pants with a high output light. I'd get something else as your first high powered flashlight. The Wurkkos FC11 is our current default recommendation for new people.
Check out the Wurkkos FC11
For $30 it can't be beat. Even comes with a battery and built-in charging.
For $30, the Wurkkos FC11 can't be beat. Especially considering it includes a battery and has built-in charging.
The SP36 is fantastic and would be a great choice.
You might also consider the Convoy 4X18A. It's bigger and heavier than the SP36. It doesn't get quite as bright and the emitter & UI aren't as nice either. But, it does give you a lot more battery capacity, a lot more sustained output (after turbo stepdown), and it's just got one central emitter so you don't have weird flower petaling around the edges of the beam.
Either one would be an equally good choice, I think. They're both just a little different. It's also worth noting that both of those might be overkill for you. There's nothing wrong with getting a bigger, badder light because it's cool, but if you just want a light for utility it sounds like the community favorite budget light, the Wurkkos FC11 would work just fine and save you some cash.
Hope this helps!
The Convoy Z1 is the best zoomable flashlight I'm aware of and it can be had in a 2300 lumen variety for less than $30. I just posted my review yesterday if you want to check it out. While it's good for a zoomie, zoomies are actually kind of niche items. They are actually less versatile than a normal flashlight because they aren't as optically efficient, they require you to zoom the light instead of just having both a bright hotspot and wide spill at the same time, and they are inherently less durable and water resistance. Just like u/dave1010 said, you would probably be much better served by a Wurkkos FC11. It comes with a battery and usb recharging too which is neat.
you sure you're wrong? I see the 88066 HL-X for 104. Looks like it has the rail mount and tape switch as well.
I’m going to be blunt: the one you linked is honestly crap. That same cheap Chinesium light has been rebranded about 5000 times, and is sold for as low as about $10 for two. You get what you pay for when you buy a $5 “high performance ultra tactical more marketing buzzwords” light.
I don’t mean to be mean: we all started somewhere, and separating the good lights from the bad lights from the downright ugly crap lights can be tricky. But please don’t buy those.
The Wurkkos FC11 is this sub’s favorite recommendation, and for only $30, this thing is fantastic, with a great emitter, a good UI (including strobe, but not on the main group aka you don’t get strobe unless you want the strobe to be on), and USB-C recharging.
It looks like Zak also already recommended this light, with some more details about what makes it so good.
>Does this mean lumens isn't the end-all-be-all for lighting?
You're correct. There are lumens, the amount of light being put out, and candela, the intensity of the light at its most intense point. Your light bulb does put out more light than your flashlight, but the flashlight puts out a more concentrated beam due to the lens focusing the light.
>I thought I could just get a 350 lumen light and it will be as bright as the durabeam. I got one on Amazon and it wasn't bright at all. What gives?!
Well, it depends on the headlamp. Chances are, the candela of your Duracell light was greater than that of the headlamp. What headlamp did you get?
>Any recommendation for a headlight that is as bright (or brighter) than a Duracell Durabeam 350?
Yes. This headlamp should outshine your Duracell flashlight.
What's your budget?
At $30 the Wurkkos FC11 really can't be beat.
If you wanted to go a bit bigger/spend a little more then the Sofirn SP33 would be good.
I recommend these because they come with batteries and have built-in USB charging.
You can get a Wowtac A2S for that. You'll need to pay for a helmet mount solution separately, .e.g. the Armytek hardhat mount.
>we all started with budget gear but want to move past it fairly quickly. For things you aren’t sure about go the budget option but for things you know you’re going to want/use save a few pennies and buy the best you can.
I'll disagree slightly here. The big thing is to do your research and find the best VALUE option there is. Sometimes the best value option is one of the more expensive ones, because that's where you get the best bang for your buck. However, I've found that often the best value option is in the "budget" range and it's not worth jumping up two or three times in price for a minor improvement.
As examples, $30 on a flashlight from a big box store will get you crap. $30 on a Wurkkos FC11 could make you question why you'd ever need another flashlight. Same goes for knives (I know OP already has one, but just to illustrate the point). $35 on a knife from a big box store will get you something that's OK, but $35 on a CJRB Feldspar will get you something great.
Again, just make sure to do your research and don't always go with what's the most popular or what's the most marketed *cough* Olight *cough*. Go with what provides the most value per dollar for you based on what you need and what's important to you. I'm finding more and more that that gear ends up in the budget price range when I look hard enough.
Streamlight 88066 Pro Tac Rail Mount HL-X, 1,000 Lumen. Purchased this for my HD AR15 and really like it. Check out the reviews on YouTube from Sage Dynamic. $114 on Amazon
