I have the Brightlines bars from Amazon on mine. Looks good, installs easy, no complaints. Less than half the cost of the Mopar crossbars.

I purchased these, the dealership said it was basically the same ones they sell but unbranded. Got them for our 2020 forester as well.
Does your Grand Cherokee have the side rails that run along the edges of the roof but not across? If yes - I recently bought this set of cross bars from amazon and an really happy with them. I also have a GC and they are the easiest and most secure cross bars I’ve ever installed.
This plus a plastic tub with a lid should do it
I have aftermarket cross bars on my 2021 RAV4 hybrid limited.
No wind noise, easy to put on, look great, and much cheaper than OEM.
Thanks! I got the $100 ones from amazon. They are junk, and I have had to replace bits flying off of them (rubber strip, lock mechanism). But I looked at the factory mopar ones and I'm pretty sure they are exactly the same. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RDL78G/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I recently bought the Brightlines Aero bars from amazon. They look exactly the same as the OEM version. They sit lower to the car and have less curvature than the OEM. I only had them for a month and I have yet to find a single issue with them.

For a bike rack, I just use a hitch mounted Nash Bar sit-in rack. For the money its nice, but there are multiple issues with the rack and how it’s designed so I don’t recommend it.

we used something similar when I used to work in a warehouse to keep merchandise separated on a truck. This may work for you.
Hah! Caught me in the middle of commenting exactly this :)
The roof rails are the Brightlines Aero cross bars
On top of which sits a Thule Motion XT L
Did not snap a side shot, but it's dark where I live right now and she's nestled in the garage so I can't get a good one until tomorrow, likely.
If you look at it from the side, it looks like it pokes over the front of the car, but I cannot see it from the driver's seat. Noise-wise, I definitely noticed some extra noise driving at highway speeds, but if I have music on like I usually do and am not actively looking for noise, I can't hear anything extra.
One thing I did want to call out is that the Motion XT L is about 17" high, so I had concerns about whether or not it would fit in my garage (She lives in a tiny detached garage in my complex) . Turns out she does, but I only have about 2" of clearance below my garage box, so do your measurements beforehand!
We did the Medano Pass primitive road, which had a good bit of loose sand - we aired the tires down to 25 PSI and we fishtailed a few times. There's a big board in the visitor's center there at GSDNP that has the latest conditions on it - so I'd check that before going out. We couldn't make it to the top because the stream crossings were at 4 ft; a more adventurous type may have made it! As for tips, don't stop once you're in loose sand.
The roof rack is from Amazon, Brightline Roof Rack. Good luck!
Just make sure it has the ports on the roof. I think the XSE does.

Amazon has quite a few and some of them even have locks. I currently have Yakima ones but my cousin that got his Forester last year purchased these ones below, as it had a higher load capacity and also is keyed. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F7DH3NM?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_JPR4FP4Y4FX9G5F14CT8
For something like a kayak you just need crossbars or some foam and straps. You can spend a little bit more and get some J hooks for a more secure mount. I'm not sure what year you have but I just have some generic ones that look like Subaru's aero bars. Paid $105 for them and originally had them on a 18 crosstrek so they've held up for a few years. Have carried various things on them like duel kayaks, a canoe, camping gear, firewood, basket, plus a mounted canopy. Here's a link to the ones I have, they've increased a little in price, they're are plenty of similar ones on Amazon, my dealership said they're essentially the same generic ones they sell.

Not sure about the length of the kayaks. The pink is a pelican and the green is a Lifetime. It is longer.
While you might want to look into actual kayak mounts, this is my setup:
Here is the Amazon link to them. Let me know if I can answer any questions. These fit the stock flush side rails perfectly on my 2014 summit.

I got these from Amazon, only needed something to hold up my 18gal pack up top. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081J9P2KY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
So far theyre great, I don't notice much more wind noise, no water leakage that I've read about in general when adding racks to the Rav, and no noticable drop in my mpgs.
We used ratcheting cargo bars, like this
They worked amazing at being able to crank up and support the roof. We used to replace/repair our cable lift system. We started with using them inside the camper to lift the roof and then when it cranked to its max height, moved it up next to the lift arm. Seen here
Here's what I got, for my purposes they're perfect, but from what I could tell they're made to be stronger and more durable than the one you can get directly from Toyota, but with the same general look. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081J9P2KY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Bought these 3rd party and zero issues with them, they look exactly the same as OEM IMO. Mount my ski box to them all the time. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081J9P2KY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I’ve got a set from Amazon that I put on before the prinsu. If you’re close to the east coast I’d prolly just throw them your way for shipping if interested. I’m a ‘19 but I’m pretty sure they’d fit. For reference…

I purchased the same Yakima Skybox 16 for around $560 new less than two years ago so it does seem like inflation has hit roof boxes. That said, it is a great roof box and adds a ton of extra space. I’ve used it many times.
For crossbars I have these Brightlines from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079K69B5L/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_AWVXS6KK4KKX656XM819
They are the OEM style and have held up great.
I just ordered these. Higher weight rating than OEM but not as expensive like the Thule. Havent got them yet but Ill report back. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081J9P2KY/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o01\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
We used a racheting tension bar in our ranger. It lasted a few years before the ratchet gave out, but it's cheap. The decked system surface is slippery so this helped keeping things in relative location.

What are the best, and most affordable, options for cargo bars? Or maybe something that works better. I bought this from amazon.

And after 5 days of very light use it failed, bent, and is now useless.
Wheels and tires when due. They make any vehicle pop.
