Update: Ordered this one from amazon that seems to do the trick and lay flat. Not as much protection as a rubber cargo mat, but should still do something.

He's a corgi. I put this cover back there (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C73S3YX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_A205G1S1CVKQRGWM91HB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) and a bed in the back for him and then clipped his harness into the seatbelt that's back there but he wanders too much and that belt is so long he can all the way to the front seat with it still attached!

The back cover also isn't very high so im considering buying a cage wall to keep him contained back there but that doesn't fix the restraint issue. If we crash he'll be swiss cheese hitting that grate.

It's not exactly what I wanted, since it doesn't go all the way up, but It's worth it for sure. most of the time my dog stays behind it. I actually use this for anything that could get the trunk dirty and just shake it out when done. for example, just brought home a bunch of firewood, and had not mess to clean up.

If I can find some sort of grate that can mount between the seats, along with this thing, I'm set.

We got the tesmanian mats, which are great, but they didn’t cover enough of the trunk area for our dog. I wanted something that covered the back of the seats and the carpet on the side. Ended up getting this and it works great, plus the material feels and looks nice, and is tough enough for a large dog:

I got the SuperLiner branded set. The trunk liner isn't quite a perfect fit, but it's close. The front and rear floor liners were a perfect fit in my 21, but I did have to seat the interior wall panel in the passenger floor board properly (it was loose from the factory) to get the floor liner to fit correctly. The texturing on them is nice to prevent slipping when your shoes are wet, but it has made it impossible to get dirt stains completely off of the surface. Loose dirt, mud, sand, and liquids come right off with a water hose, though. They're cheaper than I remember, and only $160 for the complete set (both front mats, rear floor mat, and trunk liner - no sub-trunk or frunk). When you get them you'll want to get them out of the box and let them all lay flat somewhere (ideally somewhere warm) for a few hours to a day to let them flatten out, as they may arrive folded in the box. Once I did that, they've been great at holding their shape.

We’ve had these for a few months and I like them a lot. We keep a seat up in the third row so a kid is usually climbing in and out of the trunk and there have handled the traffic well.

I originally got it for a Tesla Model Y, but plan to use it when I get a Forester next month. It hooks around the front seat headrests and extends the length of the cargo space.

I have the 3d's and they're great for the first and second row. Third row is garbage. Couldn't get a trunk set for a 6 seater so went with a cheaper set off Amazon and they slide down and block the latch so I wouldn't recommend them. I've been rocking these since 2018 and they're doing great. It has saved me from snow, ice, water, sand, mud, silt, quikconcrete (powder form), milk, dish soap, and a few eggs.

its perfect and they actually go higher into the footwell than weathertech ones. its honestly why i bought these instead of weather tech.

10/10 would recommend. they have SUPER aggressive teeth on the bottom so once its in your car, it aint going anywhere. its fantastic.

You could also cut the slit out so you can access the gas cap latch, but i opted not to cause i want full coverage. haha

Bought this for my 2018 CX-5 Sport in January 2019 and then transferred it to my 2021 CX-5 GT. Fit perfect for both and I've had no issues with it.

Are you asking me why they're hard to come by? I couldn't say. I honestly didn't know they were hard to come by. I bought my Taco back in May, and bought the bedmat maybe 2 weeks later.

They are from Tesmanian. I’m not too thrilled with their quality but these ones are not bad. The trunk mat is garbage. Slides around like crazy and super thin. Will try to DIY fix the sliding with grip tape.

this is the best solution i’ve found for the trunk, but sadly none of the “complete” sets have anything like it (yet)

When i got my bolt and had the weathertech ones i had a fold issue that seemed to fix its self but they didnt sit 100%

I've has this one since I purchased new in 2017. It's held up fine. I don't use the part around the read headrests since I take it one and off a lot. Just be careful taking it on and off (the felt on the sides is a bit flimsy) and you'll be good.

Quick note, I. Order to take it off the clips of the hatch you kinda have to pull it from the side to get a bit of slack. I don't know if the OEM also needs the same technique.
