No, the full set with the crappy cast heads is $220 on amazon, and the full set with a forged head is $328.90
The "reversible" just means that the protractor can be rotated 180 degrees in either direction. That's why it has two "0" marks, one for using it with the flat facing left, one for using with the flat facing right.
Amazon has pictures of both sides. Sounds like you got a real one to me.
I use this quite a bit t bevel lay your pieces out, put the handle side against the piece your going to cut, adjust the bevel and lock in. Take it to the saw, handle against the fence and line up the body (not teeth) of the blade to the angle lock saw and place a mark where the pointer is for next time. If you have different angles use different colours for each. This avoids math mistakes. I just repaired a compound mitre picture frame and my first cut was half of a degree off perfect just doing that. Adjusted half a degree and all cuts had no gap.
For $100 you'll want to buy a great $100 item vs several items. And for $100 I'm thinking a Starrett square. We all want one.... But like me, most won't part with $100 for a square.

Gauge for hand sharpening. Helps immensely.
General Tools 16ME Pocket-Sized 6-In-1 Multi Use Rule and Gauge with 4-Inch Ruler and Etched Graduations in 64ths of an Inch and Millimeters https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00004T7T7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3DC5PQTF5462EX4C4AE7
Oh yeah the kids one is fine. I bought an “official” mat just like it because it had lines drawn in it that I thought would be helpful.
They’re not at all. It’s hard to properly line anything up against them. Instead I use one of these:
It’s awesome, I hook the top part on the top of the foam piece and line my project against the ruler part. I pin all down that, pulling the project to the ruler the whole way down. It makes a perfect straight line. Then I rotate the piece and do another side. In the end it makes a perfectly square piece.
I bought one of those rulers for myself just for blocking. I love to block I think it’s so satisfying pulling and pinning a square perfectly straight.
Bigger projects are done in piecemeal by putting more puzzle pieces together to fit the size.
If the tool produced results, I am fine with taking a hit at the end. I'm trying to save time and aggravation. Doing this with a 12" knife just seems like the wrong tool for the job.
Thoughts on something like this?
for an issue like that a 12inch blade is too small to check with, grab 4' level or beveled edge of drywall and use that. you could also grab one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Drywall-Skimming-Blade-24-Inches-Construction/dp/B07H9K3P1J/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=smoothing%2Bblades&qid=1634160666&sr=8-4&th=1

Use large skimming blades if you are going to do a skim coat
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H9K3P1J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rakuFbAX785GK
You can use USG Plus3 mud to skim
You might want to consider stilts too

Get yourself a bevel gauge. Find the angle you want the ship at, then set the gauge to that angle. You can then use it to mark all your cuts at the same angle.
Definitely not square.
You know I've only just got involved in the 3d printing community in the last year or so but one thing that is very surprising and kind of alarming is how there are not agreed upon best practices for assembly/setup/etc. Everyone has their own way to make it right by "feel" which is very imprecise and esoteric. These practices have existed by machinists for hundreds of years and there are tools available to make things like this easier and repeatable.
Not to undermine the value of "feeling" when something is just right but that is not precise and very vague and hard to understand for most people without months or years of experience. But everyone can buy a machinist square or feeler gauge set on amazon for less than 10 bucks and all of our printers would be assembled and leveled properly.
I think in the last couple months of frequenting these subs I've read hundreds of posts about assembly and leveling and it's kind of frustrating because there are tools for this and yet we're all left trying to decipher what our favorite youtubers "mean" when they say certain things. It makes sense because the 3d printing community is by nature a DIY field but man, we could all make things much easier.
Sorry for the rant, yeah your x axis isn't square.
This is what I have been using and it is great - perfect 90 degree corners and straight lines

What are you going to use the #4 plane for? Planing without a solid workbench and vise/hold downs is a chore. Perhaps a block plane or even sandpaper would be enough to get you started?
Square - get the Irwin combo, it's accurate enough for casual use. https://www.amazon.com/IRWIN-Combination-Square-Metal-Body-1794469/dp/B005XUHIBG
That stone is too coarse for woodworking tools. Either use sandpaper like others have suggested, or get the King 1000/6000 https://www.amazon.com/King-Sided-Sharpening-Stone-Base/dp/B001DT1X9O
I would argue that the chisels, while crappy, will make good sharpening practice. Or get the $5 Harbor Freight ones and sharpen them every 5 minutes - at least you'll become a sharpening expert fast.
Excellent. In that case, you're better off with a gift card to rockler or woodcraft. Because some of the smaller things you can buy at that price range can really be a hit or miss based on what she has and/or her skill level or interests. I'd suggest a starrett 12" square but that might not be the right tool bc she may not care about that level of precision and a regular $15 square from home depot might be enough for her. That being said, Idk of a single woodworker who would not be happy with a starrett square if they don't have one already. haha.
it looks like this https://www.amazon.com/IRWIN-Combination-Square-Metal-Body-1794469/dp/B005XUHIBG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481037968&sr=8-1&keywords=compound+square
but I think it was my grandfathers prob 30+ years old so I assume its good. I can look into getting a digital one though.
A functional combo square doesn't have to be a Starrett, at least not for woodworking.
That's like looking at this and saying that marking gauges are too expensive.
I've been using this square for years and it's great.
You can use a framing square with stair gauges.
make sure you use a drill sharpening gauge -basically you want the flutes to have the same length,it will also help you keep the angle
Non-mobile: Starrett Combination Square
