My cat was starting to get more fat than fluffy, I bought a puzzle feeder and she has lost about a pound and a half in the past year or so. In addition she isn't throwing up near as much from eating to fast because she has to pull what she wants to eat out of the feeder. I used to feed her about a cup of food a day, now with two cats I throw food in whenever it's empty, maybe once a day? They just bat some out when they're hungry, I never have to worry that they're starving.
Not sure why Luna is doing that but you may want to try something like this: Catit Senses 2.0 Food Tree https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D3NI31Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_8-JfybK9QDZDV It will slow her down and possibly help her realize when she's full to stop eating. Hope this helps. This was just the first thing that popped up on amazon after searching "cat hunting feeder". I haven't tried this particular product.
I have a cat that is a larger breed had the same problem with free feeding from a bowl. She was getting a few pounds overweight, losing energy to play or do anything and vomiting all over the carpet on a near daily basis after speed-eating (gross!)
I bought one of these bad boys about a year ago and ever since my cat eats slower and has drastically cut back 95% of the vomiting. Not only that, she has dropped a few pounds and is wayyyy more active around the house. Plus I think they enjoy playing with it lol. You might here little clinks throughout the day as the kibbles hit the next level, but overall a great stress-reducing investment for me.
This is why I stopped feeding my cats their wet food in the morning. I got this food maze thing so they have access to dry food anytime they are willing to work for it, and gave them the wet food when I got back home. Its been working pretty well, both cats are a healthy weight and don't wake me up nearly as much as they used to.
The cat tree is this one: amazon link
I have one, and honestly they are not very good. The sitting areas at the top are super wobbly / don't really feel stable, even a lightweight cat will cause them to wobble. The wood is a low quality particle board like a thick cardboard. The carpet is a thin felt that provides almost no cushion.
I have two of these other ones and love them, though: link. I'd highly recommend those.
It's not like this stuff is hard to install. The ceiling things just need a joist to screw into, or use a chandelier mounting system. You can buy a four-pack set of cat wall fixtures for $47. Or DIY with some basic tools (the carpets probably the most expensive part of these).
Nothing about the gif says the house is fancy. This looks like it could be a daylight basement in a 50's era suburb development.
My chunky cat likes to beg for food all the time too. In reality she is not hungry but board. What helped my chonk loose 3 pounds was this feeder. Catit Senses 2.0 Food Tree https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D3NI31Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ctHuCb9VPD33T It essentially takes a few seconds for every piece of kibble and keeps her entertained, like she is hunting, without having to beg every couple of hours.
Just so ya'll are aware that this awesome kitty tower (I have the same one) Amazon sells these for a whopping $81!
You're welcome crazy cat people <3
Yea, try getting something that forces him to eat slower, this is the tower I have Catit Senses 2.0 Food Tree – Interactive Cat Toy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D3NI31Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_7Js1Fb2TXX1F7
I got the small original which is what I believe is pictured here. My cat rarely sleeps in it anymore but he scratches the posts and swats and the ball.
Aw, it sounds like he needs a cat tree! Cats love hanging out in high spaces. I've been thinking about getting this one for my cats, but you can spend a lot less (or a LOT more) on them.
My cat has a food puzzle (this one)
My cat is engaged while eating, and doesn't scarf down all her food at once. Highly recommended.
^disclaimer—she ^is ^way ^better ^at ^stealing ^food ^with ^her ^fast, ^fast ^little ^paws
Awesome! Vashon? It's the Vesper Cat Tree. My cat really likes lying on it, but won't use the scratching posts (he prefers the ottoman unfortunately).
This one fits our two large cats nicely: FEANDREA 67 inches Multi-Level Cat Tree for Large Cats, with Cozy Perches, Stable Cat Tower Cat Condo Pet Play House https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071CFXMZG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_pf32FbMMDQQY9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I got it on Amazon! Shipped in 1 business day and was super easy to assemble. Looks like they are out right now though. I took a lot of time comparing different cat trees and this one had the best reviews and the company actually makes solid stuff (from a few other things I've purchased from them) and have good customer service!
I believe my husband bought it from wayfair but I found the same one on amazon
It comes with a big enclosed cat bed area but this guy rather hammock so we don’t get much use out of that

If you want something in the 200 range, perhaps have a skim on Amazon for trees for large cats. I’d suggest avoiding ones that are heavily carpeted. This one is probably too small for a large male MCO, but most girls would find it comfortable https://www.amazon.com/Vesper-Tree-Scratching-Post-Condo/dp/B00SOTG05S/ref=mp_s_a_1_37?dchild=1&keywords=Cat+Tree+for+Big+Cats&qid=1625820714&sr=8-37
Something like this could be good if you’re able to make some holes in your wall for support https://www.amazon.com/PetFusion-Ultimate-Climbing-scratching-furniture/dp/B07H7WGZ6D/ref=mp_s_a_1_65?dchild=1&keywords=Cat+Tree+for+Big+Cats&qid=1625820934&sr=8-65
FWIW the benefit of a company like CTK is that you can buy replacement parts instead of buying a new tree. Though tbh, not all MC are heavy scratchers, so you may be fine either way. Sisal doesn’t survive with my lot, but they’ve not been able to do any damage to the cotton rope post and tree. Sadly, they don’t seem to sell cotton rope bound cat furniture over in the states, though.
You can try ping pong balls! They may serve the same purpose as the ice cubes but without the mess. Also, check out food puzzles. You can turn meal time into play and it'll enrich their lives and help them stay slim too.

my 12wk old (now 13wk) kitten absolutely loves this stand, she scratches on all the posts and can also climb it all the way up. a little pricey but been a good investment for me!
I don't know about this particular one, but I got a really nice one on amazon for $90 and free delivery to my house, which was nice because it weighs a lot. Mine has little rooms with openings like this one but it also has open platforms that they like a lot better. My three cats love it. Here's the one I got Go Pet Club Cat Tree, 50W x 26L x 72H, Beige https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003WGGWQA/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_cAf4yb5YQZHWJ
I got a cat tree in Amazon a year ago it has aged well and my cats love it, I got this one from a different seller at my country:
We ordered it on amazon! It was fairly easy to put together and they both love it. I'm not sure where you're located but here is the Canadian link, hopefully you can find it from your area: https://www.amazon.ca/Go-Pet-Club-F70-Furniture/dp/B007UI47PY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1546189542&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=cat%2Btree&dpPl=1&dpID=41GIJzc466L&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1
I got it from petco but you can get it cheaper from amazon: Vesper Cat Tree Scratching Post with Condo - Walnut Furniture https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SOTG05S
Great tower so far! It was easy to assemble and Louie seems to like all the shelves. He hasn’t used the scratching posts or cubby yet though.
(Not OP) If you search for "cat slow feeder" on Amazon, you get a link to lots of bowls which hide the food in a lot of maze-like ridges. For dry food, this one worked with our cat once we'd screwed it to a piece of plywood to stop our too-clever cat from knocking it over.
I have a similar one from Amazon, the brand is Go Pet Club. Very happy with it - much better looking and sturdier than the ones I've seen at the brick & mortar pet stores. I went all out and got the 72" one. It took me around an hour to assemble from start to finish. My three girls were so happy!
My cats are adults and love to jump, so I left off the bottom ramp.
Go Pet Club 72" Tall Beige Cat Tree Furniture https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005R4I7WM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_yvrGCbRCJT8ZD
Thanks, this helps a lot. The Armarkat that i was looking at seems to be a smaller version of the one you linked, minus the ramp. The top of it is right in line with one of the living room windows, so this might work really well to completely eliminate the sofa as an attractive sunning spot too.
The window is about three feet from where the sofa will be, so i'll have to address potential leaping... maybe i can re-arrange things so it's at a different window?
That wall has six windows ever 4 1/2 feet, so i have some options i think.
I had the opposite issue, so switched to a fixed feeding schedule. I absolutely believe it’s the way to help cats that either under or overeat (it’s also the first step used in eating disorder recovery for humans).
For my girl (2yo, fixed) I have settled on this routine: Half a pouch of wet food in the morning and another at night, and then bikkies in the slow feeder. I use Catit senses tree which is relatively easy, and kong wobbler which is much harder.
It can be difficult with two cats when one can regulate their eating and the other can’t. I think your best bet is a regular routine with feeding and keeping them separated during mealtimes so that your girl can get her fill.
I have 4 cats eating the same food and I use Catit Senses 2.0 Food Tree – Interactive Cat Toy https://www.amazon.com/Catit-Senses-2-0-Food-Tree/dp/B00D3NI31Y?dplnkId=855eb51f-d2b7-4ef2-ae92-c5d4b9f655ed&nodl=1
They all have their own bowls and I feed them breakfast at the same time in their bowls and then add enough food to the tower for the day. I add more food to it in the evening for overnight. They eat slower since they have to work for it
A cat hammock, just the right size to put by my desk and let Finn sit in easy reach when I'm at my computer.
We've both got way more than $30 enjoyment out of it.
