oh boy do i have some good news for you! these bread shaped ones are my personal favorite. the review photos are a goldmine.
First, a possible solution is feliway spray. personally I would recommend spraying down/placing it areas she frequents (her bed or tower or your bedroom) because my boy seems to get that when we've had take him somewhere new, that the sprayed areas are safe zones
Worst case scenario that helps her chill out enough to realize she at least doesn't need to be a stressed out ball of defense.
She could just be overwhelmed because of the move. The house likely smells of your brother and between that and all your/her stuff being there she's accepted that home now includes him and was dealing okay-ish (they are known for being good at hiding their discomfort) but the considerably more unfamiliar friend of your brother that's moving too could've just been the straw that broke the camel's back when it comes to all the new stuff. Cats can also take several months to become used to a new place, despite however well mannered they seem about most things. I overall wouldn't worry too much unless that spray/diffuser doesn't help at all and seems like it would become a trend.
Beside a behaviorist visit something in the mean time you can try a Feliway plug in diffuser in your bathroom. When it empty’s don’t forget to unplug it or if it works refill it, as this is how all these types of diffusers can get hot and catch on fire 🔥
Zymox enzyme cleaner was a lifesaver when our dog kept having ear issues. Just don't clean the ears first, the gunk helps it work.
Yes, well yelling at complete strangers to fix your problem is not really the way to get help on Reddit, but you are lucky I care more about the cat than your lack of manners. Here are a couple of things to try:
Feliway MultiCat Calming Diffuser Kit (30 Day Starter Kit), Vet Recommended, Reduce Fighting and Conflict Among Cats https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AVHPFDS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_qRO3FbTFTQ19
If that does not work, then try a product called “Licks”. They have triptophan from turkey, and my vet said she didn’t see any ingredients that were harmful. You just “squirt” rub the gravy- gel on your cats arm, they lick it off, and it chills them out . Start with half a packet, as this really works on my cat and he’s not just a holy terror but he’s 19 lbs.
Licks - Zen Cat Calming - Cat Anxiety Relief- Cat Calming- LiquiPaks - 30 Use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SLBMLR0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_EXO3FbZK3YCN2
If that doesn’t work, talk to your vet about kitty prosac- sometimes when a new feral cat starts “living” and marking around our house, we use prosac for a “reset”. 2-3 weeks of a really low dose helps my cat “ get over” the fact that someone is invading his territory.
Good luck- I hope all of the kitties do ok. Let us know if anything helped.
Give it time! Sounds like you’re on your way to a great relationship with kitty. I might suggest getting a Feliway plug in, which might ca him down a bit FELIWAY Classic 30 Day Starter Kit Plug-in Diffuser & Refill for Cat https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AVIIFRA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_OPeXFbB81PYXC
There isn't really much you can do unless you can find something that soothes her. You could talk to the vet about some calming treats. I would also get a Feliway diffuser or spray. She wont stop crying until she feels safe and that won't happen 100% until she bonds to you or has someone or something that makes her calm.
Feliway Kit - you can get smaller ones or even just a spray bottle but a diffuser is pretty good option because you won't have to re-apply often and freak out the cat more.
Calming Treats - These are the ones I like to use but they are out of stock on Chewy. You might find them in a local pet store or on amazon.
I use an enzymatic solution you can get on Amazon. It's amazing, worked in two days. Also the drops have hydrocortisone so they soothe instead of burn. Amazon - Zymox
When I got a new cat that didn't vibe well with my old cat my vet sold me plug-in pheromone diffusers that seemed to mellow them out quite a bit. It took a longgg time (years) for my cats to finally get along and bond because the old cat was a real territorial dick. Just depends on the temperament of your cats, if they're not fighting each other then you're probably fine. Your old cat is probably just tense due to the change.
Tapeworm! You may see small hard pieces that look like grains of rice, too. I took in a stray kitten earlier this year who had fleas and ended up with tapeworms from grooming and ingesting them. The wait for the vet was months due to Covid so they told me to buy the same pills they’d give me if I come in and do an at home flea treatment, too. Get the dewormer pills off Amazon. They’re $14.98 there vs $24 I spent at a brick and mortar store. Bayer Tapeworm Dewormer (Praziquantel Tablets) for Cats, 3-Count Praziquantel Tablets for Cats and Kittens 6 Weeks and Older https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019CD4ZDS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KHzuFbR5Z1TZ9

This will do. Cat poop will get contaminated like that. You havent seen any since that most likely the case. If you're still worries I recoment the above product. If your cat is losing weight, has the runs or visible worms or what looks like rice in poop or on backside take to the vet.
If you have a reoccurring issue, try this stuff. You have to vacate the home for a few hours but it works wonders with any pests.
i had a lab with chronic yeast ear infections. the stuff the vet gave me would clear it up for a few months but it always came back. i got tired of paying for the ointment from the vet so i found zymox online and it worked for me. she never had another infection again. try it

I've always been told that kittens that age should be allowed as much food as they want. However, the diarrhea is worrisome. I foster kittens a lot, and the SPCA vets have given me kitten probiotics when that's happened before. You could try getting your kittens some of the same stuff and seeing if it helps their digestion:
https://www.amazon.com/Purina-Veterinary-Fortiflora-Nutritional-Supplement/dp/B001650OE0/
(Note that it may be cheaper on other websites; I normally get mine off ebay. The vets normally only give me 2-4 packets if a kitten is having problems, so you might be able to buy less than this, too.)
No doubt. :( If it is a chronic problem, you might give this stuff a try. It is basically an every year, swim season purchase for us now and works wonders on my Newfs ears (if I remember to use it consistently). If you read the Amazon reviews, it has helped a lot of people whose dogs had chronic ear issues.
Good luck.. nothing worse than smelly ears. :-|
My cat had it, and I did get him through it. He did not have to be force fed nut was vomiting everything up. I believe the cause was the kidney formula food he was on.
I found small meals, complete altering of diet, changing of food often and the best thing, appetite and nausea medicine and Fortilflora.
https://www.amazon.com/Purina-Veterinary-Fortiflora-Nutritional-Supplement/dp/B001650OE0/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=fortiflora+for+cats&qid=1602451647&sr=8-3
The probiotic help the nausea and digestion. Works really well, I give it to my young cat now too.
Time and patience and waterproof bedding.
Best of luck.
I tend to avoid the trees with softer (like velour looking?) carpeting covering as they tend to get torn up more quickly. The regular carpeting/sisal trees generally hold up well. Beyond that seems like personal preference, as long as the tree is well reviewed in regards to sturdiness.
You might consider also looking into something like thefeliway plugins, which are basically phermones that have a calming effect on cats. It can take a couple weeks for them to start working but we have a multicat household and have found them to be effective.
I use a product that actually I had zero faith in just because the spray never worked for me. I just recently adopted two kittens two days apart from each other and because they aren’t litter mates I was worried about the stress when introducing. So I bought this FELIWAY Classic 30 Day Starter Kit Plug-in Diffuser & Refill for Cat https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AVIIFRA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EoWjFb8CPJ84T and had it plugged in the day I got the first little guy. What makes more sense is having it plugged in in my room where it’s a smaller space and the smell can be contained better. This is more therapeutic for them I found. When I brought my second baby home I immediately put him on the bed next to the other and they snuggled up next to each other. No stress, no hissing, no growling/biting. These two boys immediately bonded and absolutely think they are liter mates. There is no smell that we as humans can smell but I’m pretty sure this stuff works. If you are only able to get the spray or you want to try both, do it. Your kitty may respond well to the spray. Just because mine didn’t in the past means nothing. Cats are fickle creatures. Also, where is his liter box and food? Keep those in your room if you can for now. This will lessen the stress going out of the room.
You could try Feliway for Roll. I was suggested it for a kitten I had that would pee everywhere. They recommended Feliway as a little wall plug-in. It reminds me of a Glade scent plug-in, but instead of the scented spray in it, it has cat pheromones. You can get a starter kit for about $30 on Amazon. I can't say whether it works or not because I only got one and it was too small to cover the entire area of my parents' house to have any effect. Just something to consider looking into! :)
Feliway is your best bet by far then. It diffuses out calming pheromones which will make your cat feel more at home and at ease. You can find them at petsmart
As long as your vet says that the medication your dog takes is appropriate to crush that's a good method. Otherwise consider this or something similar which allows for intact pills. I've heard of people buying empty pill capsules if they have multiple pills/for a uniform size for their device.
If you're reasonably certain it's tapeworm (Google images) and you're in the U.S., there's a cost-effective, over-the-counter option at Amazon that can be helpful. Note this only works on tapeworms. If your cat has anything else such as hookworms or roundworms, you'll need to see a vet (my recollection is that treatment for these aren't expensive).
One of our cats seriously injured her leg a while back and she needed a cone for a few weeks, it simply made her miserable so we got her a little donut for around her neck and she took to it MUCH better. It fulfills the same purpose as the cone, heres a quick example product from amazon https://www.amazon.com/ANWA-Adjustable-Recovery-Surgery-Kittens/dp/B08ML4GK1M/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?adgrpid=58769806249&gclid=CjwKCAjwtKmaBhBMEiwAyINuwOsPjdGw7gBoaahXmH-FTEYkogOTdlyDQB52xCazD_DkfrRzJCSlfBoCsMoQAvD_BwE&hvadid=617134286150&...
Get a Felaway diffuser. A few years ago, I bought in two cats. Just the mere sight of them would make my original cat throw up. Literally. We put a couple of these throughout the house and just a day later, no more puking.
They sell them at PetSmart also. Might save you a vet visit.
You could get a feliway dispenser. Basically puts some calming pheromones in the air to help kitty relax and be less stressed.
https://www.amazon.com/Feliway-Classic-Starter-Cats-Diffuser/dp/B01AVIIFRA
For appetite try below options -
-> Fortiflora probiotic https://smile.amazon.com/Purina-Veterinary-Fortiflora-Nutritional-Supplement/dp/B001650OE0/
-> Baby food - Any brand with puree meat
-> Churu or any lickable treat
-> Salmon, turkey or chicken cuts
I've seen the plush ones shaped like flowers and toast and stuff - apparently cats hate them less than the normal Cone of Shame you get from the vet? They definitely seem like they'd be easier to eat in.
