If your laptop is usb-c powered, you're probably better off staying in DC the whole time with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075WQQG7C/
...instead of going from DC to AC to DC again
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nekteck-Charger-Adapter-Integrated-Macbook/dp/B0172QQNBY (it's on Amazon US as well). Charges rapidly and looks pretty good :). Has a type c cable built in which clicks in well and doesn't fall out. I have my dash cam plugged into the standard usb slot and it will power that and charge the phone at the same time (I use Google maps for navigation).

I have also been wondering this. Currently on my note 3 I use the Spigen magnetic mount and enjoy not having to fight with a mount.
Now I have my note 8 I'm looking forward to using wireless and I know that the magnetic plate will interfere with the charge process. I came across this iOttie however it doesn't support fast charge and its £65 from amazon which is a lot more than I'd be willing to pay. I discovered they have this model coming soon, I think we are both looking for a similar solution. The only other thing that slightly annoys me is that they both use micro USB rather than type C.
I use this one DearHot 15W Qi Wireless Car Charger Mount Holder Compatible for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Z Fold2 Fold S21 Ultra Xiaomi Mix Fold iPhone 13 Pro Max 12 Pro 4.3in-6.9in Phone Auto Clamp Fast Car Charger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08S48M82K/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_ZK0QJ3H8VKBSQW02MH26?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I use one of these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08S48M82K/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_GG6HM4VYWCFND6FRHE0T
Works well, though initially I wasn't getting fast charging with it (had to swap cables). There are a bunch of variants from different Chinese manufacturers, but they all seem to be the same. All look exactly like this though.
I'm not sure which one you should get, I'm still deciding on one but I would say don't get this one
I tried this one and the locking mechanism broke on the smallest bump. It happened to me twice. So now I'm just looking for a simple mount that holds on to the phone from the top and bottom.
https://www.amazon.ca/ESR-HaloLock-Magnetic-Attachment-Alignment/dp/B08HNBHSQV
ESR one is way better IMO. Holds the phone AND charges it wirelessly. Not to mention it’s cheaper and matches my car interior too.
I got this one on Amazon. So far it’s holding up okay. Only time will tell
I got this one:
It's pretty good, I like how solid it feels, and there's a little switch on the back to lock the phone in place. I wiped out and the mount and my phone were fine, not a bad wipeout by any stretch but it held up fine.
I made my own. First I already had a quick release handlebar mounted phone holder. This one I bought but others would be fine. The phone holder mounts with a ball and socket joint so it rotatable and you can adjust the angle. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085DMV7XD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1wX.FbGGDKKPD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Then I cut a piece of wood to be relatively phone shaped that would fit into the phone holder. This is the wood "puck". It's larger than my phone so as to take up as much room in the phone holder as possible. Sand the wood to give it a smooth edge and contour it to fit the phone mount as needed.
I bought a clipboard, and some hardware. I drilled a matching set of holes in the clipboard and wood puck.
I used 3 bolts (2 or more inches long), nut inserts (to be hammered in the holes at the bottom of the puck), 9 washers and 6 additional nuts in order to mount the clip board to the puck. I used the nuts to create an inch or more gap between the puck and clipboard.
Now I have a clipboard mounted to a wood puck and that can be put into the phone mount when I want to hold a map rather than a phone. Add bungies or bulldog binder clips to secure you maps.
I have a handle bar accessory extension which I plan to move the map board more forward and keep it from covering the other handle bar accessories or shifters, etc.
I can give more detail and photos if desired.
I have a ton of liPo's for RC toys. HERE is my travel setup. All you need is 12 volts +- 5%. There are also POWER PACKS on amazon that are plug and play with the base stations.
You can even use a battery for the HMD. Which I did for a while but ended up going with a boost from 5v USB to 12v.
You can search on "dual USB car charger" on Amazon and find a bunch. This is the one that I would probably buy today: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-PowerDrive-iPhone-Galaxy/dp/B00VH84L5E/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1525958565&sr=8-6&keywords=dual+usb+car+charger I put my cables that run from a socket that is in my arm rest and run the cables to the back seat area and stick them in a pocket behind the front passenger seat so they are a little out of the way. No one can just walk away with the charger or cables that way. I think this would be a problem for a lot of drivers though. Asshole PAX will no doubt steal. I have only had to purchase a charger or cables once though since 2015.
I usually have a 2 USB car charger like this: AMAZON ANKER 2 PORT CHARGER
Most customers will have their own cable and i only carry the cable i need to charge my own phone.
Having owned a Fold 2 for 2 years prior to getting the Fold 4, and using it as a GPS device in a similar mount, my concern regarding the Samsung mount is the clamps being at the bottom of the Fold rather than half way up the side like on this unit (which I have used since day 1 with both the 2 and the 4):
The reason IMO that the positioning of the clamps is important is that the Fold is a heavy phone, all things considered, and the inertia on a sudden stop could more easily cause the Fold to fly out of the Samsung mount than a mount where the clamping is farther up.
No empiric evidence, just concern based upon the physics involved.
Others have reported that you can turn the Pali into a wireless with this!!

Do we know if this is an issue on the VW side of things or if it is phone related? I'm using a wireless Android Auto dongle that is securely plugged into the USB port to eliminate the chance of bumping the cable and disconnecting. Works 99% of the time but every once in a while the screen goes black. Link to wireless Dongle
Maybe too simple. Go to Harbor Freight and get a pair of the mechanics gloves. Try before you buy and on sale they're like $3 - $4. At that price, cut the fingers off if you think you need that look...buy 2 or 3. They fit well.
As for cup holder. The handle bar bag ones are all about the same. Buy what you think is good at a fair price. Or add a water bottle system. The 2.0 has a mount that might fit a few brands, electric sells a flat lock for the mount on this bike.
Phone holder. I went with this ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085DMV7XD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&th=1 ) for both my 2.0 . Super easy for the large Pixel 6pro and it won't let go of the phone till you want it to. Many also like the rubber band style. I chose mine for ease of use and protection if I spill the bike (never happened in hundreds of miles, but ya never know). Based on your initial post...worth a look. Just know when I bought mine they were about $24 for two.
Good luck.
MA1 adapter or AAWireless adapter
I've used both, but was extremely disappointed with the AAWireless unit. Nothing but problems connecting. I bought the MA1 unit in March, and it has worked flawlessly.
The MA1 sells out quickly on Amazon, so keep checking. Don't waste your money buying from the scalpers. It's only $80 when it's in stock.
FYI, an inverter is one option, but a USB power delivery car adapter with support for the correct voltage and wattage as labeled on the AC adapter that T-Mobile ships with the gateway (I don't remember off the top of my head if it is 9V or 12V) should also work.
I bought this one in order to charge my laptop and other USB-compatible devices during power outages (I have a big jump starter with a 12V outlet). I keep forgetting to test it with my gateway, but it worked great with the laptop.
Not OP, but I got this one for my Fold 3 last year:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08S48M82K
It works well other than that you have to have the power/volume buttons on the bottom if you want to have it do wireless charging.
I use the ESR Halolock. I have a magsafe Iphone so it works great for me. Also has a locking function for the vent which keeps it stable.

I use these in my 2 cars, i like them both

It's not the best considering the Z900 doesn't have the best place to mount a phone mount - but I've had it for the past 3-4 months and it's worked good
I used this one to vent mount my Fold 3 in my Kia Optima and it was great. I don't currently use a mount in my Palisade because I switched to the Carlinkit AI which gives me wireless android auto and an android os on the touchscreen. But I think the mount should work just fine. I had the spen case from Samsung for the Fold 3 where the pen was mounted on the hinge and it fit and charged just fine. With the new case and the placement of the pen on the back, you will probably need to remove the pen in order to have it mount and charge. Don't listen to the people asking why mount. They don't understand how awesome that unfolded screen is in the car, much more versatile than AA.
