The Nextbit Robin for either 150$ on eBay if that deal is still going or 170$ on Amazon.
Snapdragon 808, fingerprint reader, usb-c, soon to be updated to Nougat, almost bonestock Android build with Nextbit additions, 32GB, NFC, 3GB RAM and 5.2" 1080p display. Imagine the iPhone 5c. You'll either love or hate the design. It feels like holding a Hershey's chocolate bar. I love mine.

Edit: plus it has quick charging and is unlocked
Amazon already saved me. Let me get a $60 phone to play on
https://www.amazon.com/BLU-R1-HD-Exclusive-Lockscreen/dp/B01F9N5QXI
Edit: Seems to run
Fun fact you only need this below in order to link the same thing:

Everything after the unique character code is just tracking stuff. You can read it by variable=value and than either a ? or an & for each additional variable.
Really, because I can pick up last year's Galaxy S8 for less than $500.
And you can go online and find new V30s for $500.
On the lower end: Moto G Power currently on sale for $230. It's a decent phone with a big battery, a headphone jack, and minimal bloat. It's generally for people who don't game at a high level or heavily multitask. The biggest downside is it won't get an OS update past Android 11 and security updates will probably be sporadic. Edit: I should also mention it doesn't have NFC.
On the upper end of things: OnePlus 8 for $700 (glacial green only). Not stock Android but stock fans seem to not mind (or even prefer) OxygenOS. Battery life won't be as good as G Power but it's faster/nicer and has a better updates policy (though no headphone jack).
Ok, but you should know that a third party has listed the Robin on Amazon UK for £639. You probably can't do anything about it but an official listing might be best.
I don't think this will run it. It requires 2GB RAM, and this only has 1GB. Slow processor too, 1.2GHz 400 Quad core - doesn't cut it these days.
Do you have Amazon Prime? You can score a BLU R1 that will run it decently for $60

Well first of all i'm from EU and the X costs 1159€ here. Just look on ebay (that's where i got mine from) https://www.ebay.es/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xgalaxy+s8.TRS0&_nkw=galaxy+s8&_sacat=0 you can find brand new S8 on the range of 530 - 550 easily and here on EU that's half of what the X costs.
If you are from NA look at amazon https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-S8-Unlocked-64GB/dp/B06Y14T5YW/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1510623910&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+s8&dpID=417dUvGor3L&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch 520$ for a S8.

And yes, you will pay taxes on the A32.
You cannot seriously compare buying a phone off Swappa to a phone for $500 new.

If you did a quick amazon search you would’ve found this as the first result.
Keep that s8 and buy this instead. I did the promotion and gave them that phone. The promotion doesn’t require adding a line.
....by looking on Amazon to verify people's statements
plus, one thing to remember is that, while on paper the switch is less powerful than current smartphones, it's also selling at a much lower price. at the moment a galaxy s8 is 600 dollars on amazon
but usually selling at over 700 dollars, while the switch is less than half of that at 300 dollars

Moto G Power would be fine for your usage. I recommend the 2020 version over the 2021 model, as the 2021 model's specs are equal to or lower than the currently cheaper 2020 version.
A $300 alternative is OnePlus Nord N10 5G, which compared to G Power exchanges some battery life for a quicker processor, more ram, and more storage.
BestBuy.com is selling a newly released Moto G4 for $200, with a free $50 gift card. If you can afford it, it is pretty much the best phone at technically $150.
Amazon is selling a smartphone to Prime members at $100 with a free $50 gift card too. It is severely underpowered and has ads on the lock screen, but it is technically a $50 smart phone that lets you play Pokemon Go, although I think it lacks AR capabilities.
At the moment it's $159 on Amazon, but they have regular deals too, it was $145 just before Christmas.
> Would you recommend anything else with a better battery than the Robin?
If battery life is more important then the Moto G4 is a better choice, but if you're after performance and developer-friendlyness then the Robin is better.
also to note, there is a Halo Gray phone for pre order with Feb 21st release date, for 449$. https://www.amazon.com/Essential-Factory-Unlocked-Phone-Warranty/dp/B078SQ7GWK/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1518801369&sr=8-10&keywords=Essential+Products
Edit- Looks like its a new color, with amazon only. Bit different then the new gray ver coming out, but cheaper non the less
Essential PH1. It's not a metal build, but ceramic and titanium. Excellent build quality, 128Gb of storage, cost is currently around $229 on Amazon, and from experience seems to be getting all updates at least as fast as Google's Pixel phones. It's completely unlocked and can support either CDMA or GSM (single sim slot though).
All plans work with all phones. Just take the sim card out and put it in the new phone.
Pixel phones are wonderful for seniors. The cameras are decent. They are not big and bulky. They run well and get quick updates.
Just grab the pixel 4a from Amazon and move forward. It's as good or better than the s8 and fully compatible with T-Mobile.
Again, there is no activation, no calling support, no codes to dial, just take the sim card out of the s8 and move it to the pixel.
Here's something that hasn't been mentioned: Nextbit Robin
It's going for $170 on Amazon. It's got an extra GB of RAM but doesn't run pure Android out of the box (there are pure Android ROMs available). The fingerprint scanner is on the side of the device.
EDIT: provided link to Amazon
If those Verizon phones are locked, then no, they won't work. That LG Shine should be put out to pasture. You wouldn't want to use that as a daily in 2017.
You can always grab a Blu phone from Amazon. That $50 unlocked phone with the ads on it is a good backup phone if you have Prime. You can probably get it same day if you live in some larger areas.
you can get a Blu r1 hd for $49 if you are amazon prime user. which is a decent performing phone for that price.
How about the Essential Phone? It will work on Verizon, and has a 5.7" screen. It will often sell for just under $400 on Amazon right now. At launch it cost $700 and had a ton of bugs (new phone, new company) but since then they've ironed out virtually all those bugs. Now, it's just a cheap extremely well built phone with a mediocre camera and a very striking design.
Huawei Mate SE is same as Honor 7x, but has more memory and storage for a few dollars more.
You might also consider a used flagship instead of a new budget device. The LG V20 is currently a great value, available for under $150. I bought one from this seller recently.
Or if you can spend a bit more, you might consider the Essential PH-1. It's currently $310 on Amazon, and has dipped below $300 a couple of times.
https://www.amazon.com/Essential-Phone-Halo-Edge-Edge/dp/B078SQ7GWK
Try the Essential PH-1 phone, there is a good deal on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Essential-Phone-Unlocked-Display-Camera/dp/B074BWGRKH/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1539124446&sr=1-1&keywords=essential+phone
Cheapest I could find - can’t go wrong with free shipping if you have prime Tracfone Carrier-Locked Alcatel MyFlip 4G Prepaid Flip Phone- Black - 4GB - Sim Card Included – CDMA (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084GXS58R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2MQR3G9586JNW19FJJ5Z?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Country?
If you're in the US, Moto G Power 2020 fits the bill. 1080p screen, same battery, better chipset, decent camera outside of low-light situations. G Power 2021 offers no real improvements over 2020 except maybe a marginally better main camera.
Realme 7 won't be compatible with US carriers, so I wouldn't recommend it.
I'd recommend Moto G Power over G Fast and 5.3. You'll likely want at least 4 gb of ram for gaming, so G Fast isn't a good option. Nokia 5.3 on paper is ok, but recent Nokia phones can be a bit glitchy in the software department. It also doesn't really offer a standout feature, while Moto G Power at least offers excellent battery life.
Thanks! I looked into the MotoG Power(https://www.amazon.com/Power-Battery1-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera/dp/B084D89DBF) Its a solid deal for 179$. If the camera can be compared to my existing Honor 8, i am good. My usage is kind of similar to yours, i will add this to the list. My older phone before Honor 8 was a Moto Defy, a solid phone - abused it a lot and worked great.
Moto G Power is probably the best choice under $200 right now. Moto G Stylus is also $200, basically the same device with a smaller battery and more internal storage.
