Just a heads up: You can buy a window punch for like $10 and it takes up very little room in your glove box. Its a useful tool for emergencies including situations like this
Get a center punch. Old EMS trick of the trade. You don't have to worry about having room to wind up or possibly fighting gravity if you're the one in the car, and if you're not, you don't have to use it in the center of the windshield (i.e. not right in someone's face).
Nope. /u/wlxd left his referral URL in there, and I'm betting that's it. Here's a clean version of the link which should work and not get caught by automod.

Best punch on the market for the job. If I knew how to use imgur I'd send you a pic of my last/first one I ever did. Looks like a pro did it. Hope this helps for future builds!
Use a spring loaded center punch. It keeps your drill bit from walking off. I don't build pedals but I am a fabricator and they are perfect for getting a good hole everytime.
I did exactly this with an UpLift just about a month ago. u/lavransson captured the essentials of what you'll need. And also that it's not as easy as it sounds, at least for beginners. Here are a few tips I'll add to that excellent reply:
Good luck!
Mark it in pencil and before drilling the hole, use a center punch.
Do not use a nail plz. You are going to almost certainly fuck up the pin and the bore it's in. Just wait until tomorrow and get a Stanley pin punch set for like $12.

That particular part, easy. I installed the Cajun Standard Package and working on the sear was a bitch. But the slide upgrades were dirt simple with punch and hammer.
You might want roll pin starter punches too.
I started with BYOC last year, I believe their Green Muff was my first. Quickly became obsessed. Read everything I could, and watched as many YouTube videos that I could find (and still do both). Then I found PedalPCB and went nuts.
Drilling is easy, many pcb suppliers also provide a build document complete with a drill template you print out. I start with a small automatic punch, then a small drill bit and finish with a step bit (or uni bit). The 3PDT’s are wired using PedalPCB’s breakout boards, makes it a lot easier and cleaner.
Here’s a link to the automatic punch, a game changer for a reasonable cost:

Seriously, get with a doing loaded emergency tool, or toss one of these in with your pens if you already have one lying around. They will destroy tempered glass like no one's business and are a favored tool of people who break windows on cars. Had someone bust my window out in the middle of a crowded parking lot to steal a Zune years ago and the cop said they like to use these center punches because they work the first time and barely make a noise. They can get in and out of your vehicle in under 10 seconds and there's barely even a pop noise to be heard.

This is how to do it, a Wheeler punch set makes it easier, this guy is using a hammer(not optimal):

It will come in handy for all kinds of stuff down the road.
Happy shooting!
A hole punch. Never thought I needed it, never thought I’d use it. But it comes in so handy I use it all the time now.
Please excuse me I meant to say a Starret center punch. My phone keeps auto correcting it to the wrong name. You want this:

Press it against the window until it goes *CLICK* and the window disappears.
practice by pressing it against the floor until you're sure it clicks and you understand how it works.
They work great on car windows as well. (sides and back, not front)
Spring loaded centerpunch. They come in many different varieties, but I prefer this brass one, because it is hefty, and has good grip texture when using gloves. The auto punch I have has a slightly sharper tip than a regular punch, so following it up with a couple of whacks with a standard rounded tip punch makes a nice bowl shape like this picture. The sharper tip of my auto punch makes a REALLY nice and precise starting point for staking though.
Basically, it’s just aesthetics. An auto punch by itself is fully capable of properly staking a castle nut in a very short period of time.

It looks more like a center punch to me.
They're used in machining to create a small dimple in metal so when you're drilling, the drill bit doesn't slip around all over the place.
This is the way

I use one of these when i stake and it comes out perfect every time. I use the lowest poundage to get a little hole started and then increase the spring pressure once I've gotten a little hole started so that it doesn't walk off and then take your time making the staking as big as you want

You got this bruh we believe in you! YouTube has a bunch of videos with ppl doing stock swaps and whatnot. I'd recommend a punch set like the one linked below to make things easier. Don't be afraid to get rough with it and use elbow grease 💪.

Something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-6580-Automatic-Center-Punch/dp/B0037UUO60
That's essentially all the ResQMe is. A purpose made center punch.
I would still advise a purpose made tool, since they include other vital extrication tools such as a seatbelt cutter and are much more easily secured so as to be accessible following a car accident.
A center punch can bust a window... but will you be able to find it after your flips and you're now upside down, underwater?
Or even if you land upright, is your center punch still where you initially put it? Or is it under your seat where you can't reach it or find it as your car is filling up with water?
Also, loose debris. If the punch isn't secured, you essentially have a metal spike now flying around the cabin of the car in a car accident.
Carry one of these
Around and pop the back of the screen. Fuck normalizing this kind of behavior from stores.

Start with a low weight to make a small indent and increase the weight once you make a small indent so the point doesnt walk
