That's a great idea. I bought his brother an anatomy encyclopedia, and he loved it. The Knowledge Encyclopedia looks pretty good - pictures, short explanations.

Book: DK Knowledge Encyclopedia (Updated and Enlarged Edition): The World as You've Never Seen It Before
>Cheese is the bigger story here. Cheesemaking requires rennet, which is found in the animal stomach. Humans were using the stomach as a bladder and someone left the milk on a shelf too long, in the right conditions, and that was the invention of cheese.
I heard it was a trip across a desert (a bumpy and long ride) that created the first cheese.
Source: a childrens book from like 15 years ago called mistakes that worked lol. And yet i can't fucking remember what i had for breakfast
My kid doesn't really read chapter books, but LOVES the Smithsonian books. I like them too, it's really cool. I'll put one example but they have a whole large series of different subjects.
You should check out the LEGO character encyclopedia. I know they have one for Star Wars and Ninjago but they might have more also. here
This is a wonderful book for kids and even adults of all ages. It really covers everything!
Amazon has the Book on sale for $13. There's a Boba Fett currently on sale at bricklink for $5 but I can't imagine this being up longer.
At this point, why hasn't Bungie made this into a book yet?
I would love to read this outside in the park.
It worked very well for Star Wars.
I got my niece a Marie Curie doll that she absolutely loves. I know you asked for boy toys, but I figured it someone else is reading this, it might be helpful.
My nephew loved the Nat Geo Little Kids First Book of.... They have a whole bunch in the series.
Once their older I think we are going to start getting them the mechanical toy kits to make stuff themselves. I totally don't understand kids toys today though.
I would strongly recommend you to get the official Guide to the Crystal Gems.
I would also strongly recommend you to bingewatch the series several times. ^(Your doctor may not recommend this.)
Top 6 drinks of the Mos Eisley Cantina:

Tatooni Junko (powerful Hutt drink)
Hutt's Delight (colorful slurry of aquatic organisms)
I added the book to my wishlist
Are preorder items allowed here? It's not out until early next month. This would not only make me happy, but it would make my brother happy too. Me and my brother are both huge fans of Steven Universe, and we're very excited that they're releasing guide books/art books about the show because we both love those kind of things. Thankfully, my brother lives with me, so we can share the book.
I'm doing pretty bad lately. I've been feeling very upset for various reasons, I've been getting potentially harmful growths on my back that I need a doctor to look at, my heartburn meds aren't working well, I keep thinking about morbid things that normally never cross my mind and it's making me terrified, and I'm extremely worried about my family because their problems are worse than mine.
I'm a beautiful person.
The only thing about the other book is that it is a children's book. Not to say it won't be worth it, I already have it pre-ordered. http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Absolutely-Everything-Journey/dp/1465437851
I don't know if this has been posted before because I haven't seen it but there is also a book coming out and it can be pre-order on amazon. Gem Book hopefully that link works, it takes you to amazon.
Goodnight Gorilla Harold and the Purple Crayon If you give a mouse a cookie series EVERYTHING by Arnold Lobel (Frog and Toad, Owl and Grasshopper)
I have to say we have a book problem, like a zillion of them. But I buy them Savers, Salvation Army, yard sales and library book sales. I have probably spent 1000 on books over the past 5 years but I am sure I have 15,000 dollars (RETAIL) worth of books. I normally spend 10 cents to a dollar per book for books that cost probably an average of 10 dollars, although many cost 20-25 bucks.
There are some books I think it's worth spending the retail for since they are rare but totally worth it... Here's one. The author also has one with just animals we have. The books are huge with terrific illustrations.
Check out Anno's books too.
There are sooo many great ones I could blab on all day about our favs!
