No, but the "Jenny and Alfred" version is also by Alvin Shwartz, who wrote those. The book mentioned in the article above (and likely the one OP remembers) is this one.
You're thinking "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark"? Loved those as a kid. They're scary for kids, not for adults. Source: Have kids/nephews/nieces, now an adult.
The Monster at the End of This Book
My all time favorate kids book. No matter how many times it was read to me, I was always suprised by the ending.
As a Canadian, I love #1 New Release on Amazon Book-Author Elyse Willems like a maple sister so believe me that hurt to write too!
If you think that's bad, wait until you try Good Night Goon.
Not sure, but maybe something from the Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark series?
My friend….

Elliot and the goblin war maybe?
Or Goblins in the Castle? (There are two cover art versions in this Amazon link) https://www.amazon.com/Goblins-Castle-Minstrel-Bruce-Coville/dp/0671727117/ref=asc_df_0671727117/
Got this creepy kids (https://www.amazon.com/Goodnight-Goon-Petrifying-Michael-Rex/dp/0399260110/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=goodnight+goon&qid=1632692732&sr=8-1)[book] and then of course I had to explain to the 6 year old that one of the monsters is Frankenstein’s monster. And who he was, who made him, and what he did to Frankenstein’s family…. He had nightmare about him last night. So it may have been a little to soon.
I also never finished Frankenstein myself because that book was way to creepy. So what did I expect?
You can get the whole box set with the original artwork on Amazon

Shameless plug: Just finished A Night in Halloween House by Funhaus's own Elyse Willems, and it's a great read!
Even if the pacing gets a bit wonky at points, I was glued to the screen by the halfway point!
Definitely recommend: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L73MWTL/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_x_8j6IFb6Q0KZ4S

Not at all
ETA:. I'm awake now. Here's all three for about 12 dollars.
Since so many here are clearly unaware:
The original artwork was put back in for the version of the three books released last year. Still available on Amazon.
The most recent editions (from July 2017) have the original art, so quit your whining.
Get her a book that you enjoyed as a child and inscribe it. I personally loved “The Monster at the End of This Book” (spoiler alert! It’s Grover), and I love to give an inscribed copy to friends with new babies. If you feel that’s not enough give them that and a gift card.
Thank you, it's from the book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creepy-Cute-Crochet-Zombies-Ninjas/dp/1594742324
I did have a lot of help from my girlfriend, that's her cat blanket is under mine. She got very fed up of counting to make sure I had done that row correctly.
Hi, I didn't forget to find the link, I promise! I just had the hardest time figuring out what it was. Turns out it wasn't a YouTube video at all, but this Craftsy link and the instructions from the book Creepy Cute Crochet. The patterns in that book are stupid adorable.

this is the one i remember most. i remember being so sad when i heard the story "the green scarf" (at least i think that's what it was called?)
this book is probably what really inspired my brother to become a horror author.
Heckedy Peg by Audrey Wood. Amazing captivating story with beautiful illustrations. Every kid I've read it to had loved it.
The Monster at the End of this Book
The sequel with Elmo sucks because Elmo sucks. That red furry motherfucker is incapable of learning.
