Moisturizer after you wash is a good start. I really like ones with lactic acid in them as they are moisturizing and exfoliating, so they really help with dry skin. I only shower a couple times a week, but put on this lotion on my face and body almost every night. My skin looks great, even better than before I started using it, which it’s never really been bad.
Also, drink water and try to get more protein in your diet. Your skin is protein, so it’s important. I know you struggle with anorexia so it’s impossible to just tell yourself ‘eat more meat!’
So I’ll work with you. There are plenty of low calorie, high protein powder that you can mix in with water. Get a flavorless powder that you can mix with water and drink two or three glasses a day. It will at least be a step in the right direction. This is the brand that I use and they have a few different options.
I know where you’re coming from to an extent because, though I don’t have an eating disorder, I have terrible anxiety that makes it impossible for me to eat for days at a time without throwing up. I have incorporated unflavored protein powders in my diet to make up for the lack of nutrition I get on these days. You just have to get used to drinking a lot of water. This is easier to do if you cut out sugary beverages completely. Once you go long enough without them and force yourself to drink water when your thirsty, you will lose your taste for less healthy drink options and crave water much more often. The fact that it doesn’t have calories also makes it easier to not have anxiety over drinking it.
Mine grows SO slow too! I’ve heard amazing things about this brand (haven’t tried it for myself yet)
I buy it on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Collagen-Peptides-Hydrolyzed-Grass-Fed-Certified/dp/B00XQ2XGAA
It’s certified Paleo, Keto and non-GMO, derived from pasture raised grass fed cattle.
I’ve been taking it for over 6 months now. For my joints, I could feel results in about three weeks. At two months my joint pain issues reduced about 40%. I noticed my hair was growing like crazy at around six weeks.
At the five month mark I noticed that I was regaining flexibility and could walk for long periods without any pain. This really works for me!
Collagen peptides have been LIFE CHANGING! I noticed results in 10-14 days, I’ve been consistent for 2 years now, in addition to the bumps on my arms, legs, cystic acne it also started regrow on the hair I lost after my first baby, it’s incredible. Start out with 2 scoops and then you can go down to the recommended 1 scoop a day. I wouldn’t recommend skipping more than 2-3 days. I’ve tried a couple different brands, this has been my favorite.

Collagen Peptides Powder | Hydrolyzed for Better Collagen Absorption | Non-GMO Verified, Certified Keto Friendly and Gluten Free - Unflavored https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_tuY-Fb9ARKMA3
For sure let it grow. My cheeks look very similar to yours. Im at roughly 3 months now and its starting to fill in somewhat decently. my facial hair seems to grow slowly though. I had half-assedly attempted beards in the past bu gave up because of the sparse cheek growth, but one day my wife bought some collagen powder to mix with her coffee in the morning, its good for joints and stuff so I started using it too, but the weird thing is that my facial hair started growing more than it ever has in my life. im not sure if its just a coincidence, but it may be something to look into. if you care this is the stuff i use. I put a little less than a full scoop in my coffee every morning ( it is tasteless, but doesnt dissolve in cold drinks well) Collagen Peptides Powder | Hydrolyzed for Better Collagen Absorption | Non-GMO Verified, Certified Keto Friendly and Gluten Free - Unflavored
Here it is! This one dissolves immediately even in cold drinks, and tastes the least nasty of all I’ve tried. This is the only one I use since it’s so much better! The container is huge and lasts a while, I try to remover (haha I’m a failure!) to take two tablespoons daily. Your hair and nails will thank you too! I also included a liquid multi vitamin I take, also super helpful for skin, hair and nails. My face and hands are painfully dry, when I take these they are much better!

I use a brand called Sports Research and I get it from Amazon. Collagen Peptides Powder (16oz) | Grass-Fed, Certified Paleo Friendly, Non-Gmo and Gluten Free - Unflavored https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_6i74BbBFAVMNQ
This is the one I bought from Amazon. You can buy in either powder or tablet/capsule form; however I prefer powder as I can just dissolve a scoop in water. When buying collagen make sure it contains Type I and Type III which are the ones that are known to support nail and hair growth.
Here's the amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006VAZYNG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I take four a day and it takes about a week to see a difference. Apparently it also has vit c in it which I didn't know!
I hear it advised everywhere - but I'm always slightly suspicious of supplements in the 'expensive pee' sort of way.
So, do you actually notice a difference between when you take fish oil and when you don't, and what might that be in your experience?
Oooh do you mean this? And it’s completely flavorless? I tried an unflavored whey protein but it still has that dairy taste (ofc)
I've been using this in my coffee for years. I have no idea if it's made my skin better or not, but it's a way to start my day with some protein, which is certainly good for my mental health. It's not going to be a waste of money either way.
I think the brand I use is from Sport Researchsport research. It has 10g protein, 40 cals, and No sweeteners.
Brace sleeves. I wish I had worn them from the beginning, maybe my joints would not have gotten bad. Also as mentioned collagen, I take 3 grams morning and 3 grams at night. Amazons sells these big bottles of 1 gram collagen pills.
Youtheory Collagen with Vitamin... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006VAZYNG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I use the Vital Proteins original https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6JUG4K I put a scoop in my coffee every morning. Dissolves really well and is unflavored. I tried a few before this and one was so bad, it tasted and smelled like I put beef broth in my tea, 😅.
I have been using this one for the last 5 or so years. I initially started taking it to protect my joints as I aged, not necessarily for my hair so I can't say definitively at what point I noticed the improvement. My hairstylist just always comments on how healthy it is, and how quickly it grows. I also noticed that I don't lose as much hair in the shower and in my brushes.
Collagen has also done wonders for my skin and nails.
I take organika
It is a protein, and you'll stop producing it as you age, it helps your bone, skin, muscles, tendons and cartilage, it's also what keeps your skin from sagging, so when you start producing less, guess what? Sagging skin, especially noticeable on your face. Click the link I left, that is the kind I use (make sure it has peptides), I really do see a difference, not facelift difference, but some difference.
Do not take ANYTHING with vit A. I use this:
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00NLR1PX0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_T3GNPZR8V2SZ68SKE8EM
My derm said this is fine. It says it supports hair and nails. I mix it with my morning coffee because it dissolves better in hot liquids.
I use organika brand for collagen (& spirulina), I do find the collagen is flavourless and I’ve even mixed it into water with lemon or juice . I just use this brand cause a naturopath had me start the spirulina like ten years ago and this was the brand so I’m not sure if others are better or anything haha
This one was my go-to collagen supplement, and I would just buy whatever biotin supplements were at the grocery store, usually Nature’s Bounty brand. 👍🏻

I haven't tried it yet but this guy knows a lot about health and nutrition so it seems trustworthy.
Vital Protein Collagen Peptides. It's flavorless and you can literally add it to anything with liquid. Load it into a smoothie. I also like to add in melted coconut oil mixed with carob powder. Adds a little extra fat and it's like little chocolate chips.
Here's a good one that tastes nice and dissolves well in plain water.
This is the product I use and have been happy with it. Collagen Peptides Powder by Sports Research | Hair, Skin, Nails & Joint Support from Type I & III Hydrolyzed Collagen | Non-GMO, Dairy and Gluten Free (41 Servings) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_W3ATD34CY4YCFPBMSZSR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I'm not sure how it will work on your face but I take great lakes collagen powder everyday. All I really notice is crazy fingernail growth but Ronda Patrick went deep into how it helps rebuild cartilage. Either way I love the product and it is truly tasteless and odorless when added to coffee. Here's a link:
I use this one. I have one scoop in my coffee every morning.
I've been using the Vital Proteins collagen peptide in my coffee in the mornings to see if it helps me with loose skin down the road (I have about 100 lbs to lose). Like the other comments say, who knows if it will help but it's also suppose to help with joint pain too so if I end up with loose skin and NO joint pain in the end, it would still be a win/win for me.
Great reviews on Amazon which is where I purchased it and I really can't taste it in my coffee with cream. I usually stir one scoop in with some creamer in my cup, mix a bit of hot coffee to fully dissolve it in with the creamer, then fill the rest of my cup up with more coffee. I drink two cups of coffee in the mornings so I end up getting my two scoops of collagen for the day that way.
https://www.amazon.com/Vital-Proteins-Pasture-Raised-Grass-Fed-Collagen/dp/B00NLR1PX0
Stuff like this: https://www.amazon.com/Orgain-Pasture-Hydrolyzed-Collagen-Protein/dp/B07BL69CD2/ref=psdc_3774321_t3_B00XQ2XGAA
And stuff on Walmart's shelves try packing ginseng, maca, fenrugreek and stuff marketted for testosterone, maybe help T some but express more hormones that are counter productive to gains.
They literally throw in so much garbage stuff in these that sure they're weapons grade aphrodisiac for like 40 minutes, then as the dust settles, you're wrecked for days and your kidneys hurt. If anyone needs body building aphrodisiacs, let me know that give gains. Please don't go to this trash for a cheap thrill, it hurts your system for days.
Anyway, I thought this was common knowledge. Where you buy your protein from?
It'll depend on your goal. Collagen tends to be beneficial for the skin and gut. Glycine is an amino acid within Collagen protein that can support sleep.
If you're just looking for collagen protein, this is a good option.
The folks over at HVMN put glycine in their sleep supplement, if better sleep is what you're after.
Hope this helps!
Collagen peptides. There are a bunch of different brands. This has helped my hair growth and I'm not losing as much as I was. This is the brand I'm using right now: https://www.amazon.com/Vital-Proteins-Collagen-Peptides-Pasture-Raised/dp/B00K6JUG4K?th=1
I'm taking one that is sold by my naturopath: https://white-lotus-clinic.myshopify.com/products/cytofem-androcalm
My DHT has gone from 3272 to 1287 pmol/l from May to Sep which is a significant drop putting me back within almost normal ranges (83-1266). It's hard to say how much of that drop can be attributed to the supplement but I'm sure it contributed. I have a feeling the elevated DHT was mainly from the IUD though, which I removed in June.
This is the collagen powder I'm taking: ORGANIKA ENHANCED COLLAGEN 500 G https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01MZ1FC46/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_63E32HWV8C5T6SQ9Z07T I typically mix it in with my protein shake.
I’ve been using collagen powder for a few years and have definitely seen results. Here’s what I use. I put it in my morning coffee and can’t taste a thing.
The Dose & Co is $25 for 10oz and the one I use is $28 for 16oz.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I’m getting no benefits from sharing this other than recommending taking some type of collagen products daily.
Anytime doll! Let me know if you need anything! Another thing I found helpful was taking collagen and biotin supplements which I also buy on amazon I’ll link the ones I use- I had a lot of bleach damage in the past when it used to color and this helped me greatly-
What about collagen powder? I didn't think it has calories but it turns out it has 35 per scoop. 18 g. of protein, but no fat or sugar.
Sports research brand is my favorite and the best value - I recommend plain flavor so you can add to anything (soup, tea, coffee, etc)
Sorry on mobile Collagen Peptides Powder | Hydrolyzed for Better Collagen Absorption | Non-GMO Verified, Certified Keto Friendly and Gluten Free - Unflavored https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_V78SCFJBQ6CST7FXT9AJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is the top hit on Amazon for hydrolyzed collagen.
You need to eat four servings a day, and that pound will only last you one week = $100 a month.
Just bought this! It's $25 for a pound! Collegen Powder
I use this one. It mixes great in hot beverages which is how I use it.

ok so I had never been able to grow a beard. After a few failed attempts that resulted in shaving because of super sparse cheeks (even after about 3 months) I decided that it wasnt in the cards for me and just did stubble for a number of years. One day I started taking collagen powder for joint health and other non-beard related benefits. I quickly realized that my facial hair was growing better than it ever had. Im not sure if it was a coincidence or what but I decided to keep with it. I also made some bad mistakes cutting my neck line... Im committed to letting it go for at least a year to see what I can really do, but the spots under my jaw by the ears have me concerned. Im hoping that once it does start to grow longer those spots wont make the beard look super scraggly. should I be concerned?
Diagnoses as dumb. Sorry but I died. 😂 Mine is a block head too, lol! I know I will work mine until he can’t move, and not for my sake- for his. I can’t even imagine having to retire him he loves working so much, I know he will want to go as long as possible. Yes, we need to keep their best interest in mind, but all the working dogs I know, police k9 and service, died a little when they stopped working and were never the same after. My grandfather worked at everything he couldn’t until the very last too- people are the same. We placed service dogs have a real work ethic, they love what they do. I have a regular dog too, and if given the choice, he sinks in the couch while the other is bouncing at the door. See how he feels both mentally and physically. Are there any supplements that could help? I know beef collagen powder is just excellent for that kind of thing, I get mine from Amazon and it’s amazing for me too! Hair, skin, nails and joints show incredible improvement when you take this regularly. I sprinkle on his food and water his food well, since I’ve don’t that he never has gas anymore either- bonus tip! Here’s what I use, it has the least taste of all those I’ve tried, and dissolves well in any drink or food. All the best to you both!! Great Lakes Gelatin, Collagen Hydrolysate, Unflavored Beef Protein, Kosher, 16 Oz Can https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005KG7EDU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_.Ww-FbGNGRZXA
Note OP but I take bovine collagen (this one: https://www.amazon.ca/Organika-Enhanced-Collagen-500-grams/dp/B01MZ1FC46) and add it to my coffee as well. If you have a Costco near you its $50 for 1kg and will occasionally go on sale for $40 for 1 kg. Ive gone through at least 6 so far. I prefer the powder cause I only want the collagen and the collagen pills contain a bunch of other stuff in addition to it. A nice bonus to taking collagen for skin is that you experience less discomfort in your joints. I use to run fairly often so when I go for periods without the collagen I notice a difference in my knees.
I don't know about the specific injections she was talking about, but she was generally speaking about Collagen Peptides. You can buy the powder form on Amazon. I take this one -
I’m in Canada I get organika brand It might be avail on Costco/ in certain grocery stores for cheaper too.
I mix it in smoothies so I don’t taste it.

I think my hair and nails have improved also. There are lots of glowing reviews on amazon too.
The top review discusses it more at length: https://www.amazon.ca/Great-Lakes-Collagen-Hydrolysate-16-Ounce/dp/B005KG7EDU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488769730&sr=8-2&keywords=hydrolyzed+collagen#customerReviews
I get this from amazon. I'm not toooo sure what it does to my skin to be completely honest with you, but only because I'm freakishly obsessed with skincare stuff and I don't know which exact products are helping me out LOL. shout out to /r/asianbeauty
im 95% sure it was this one
It caught my eye because I bought the same one from amazon. Was cheaper from Woodmans

Metformin doesn't cause hair loss. Have you looked into thyroid testing? Additionally, I would ask a dermatologist about spironolactone - it's a great medication that is used for acne and it helps to prevent further hair loss. I totally get it, I have a thyroid disorder as well as diabetes and it's so frustrating. I've had anxiety attacks and cried over the amount of hair I've lost in the last 4 years. Currently taking vitamin d, methylfolate + b12, iron, and this collagen powder: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Started the iron and b12 recently but that collagen powder is great. It has protein in it, no taste, it dissolves really fast in water, great in smoothies, and I've definitely felt a difference in my hair and my nails have grown longer and stronger. It's not a cure all but it helps. In the hashimoto's subreddit, a lot of people ask about hair loss as it's a major side-effect. And for every success story, it seems the only way to stop the hair loss and to get your hair back is to cut out carbs.
You can also try viviscal, that's supposed to be great. Also recommend limiting styling and dying your hair, try not to wear it up in a ponytail too much and if you do, use the spiral hair ties (phone cord ones) so that it doesn't pull your hair out.
Good luck bb, I know it sucks. I'm in the boat with you.
Dr. Dray goes through the research on Collagen and several studies have shown that ingesting Collagen increases skin hydration, increases collagen and elastin in the skin, makes skin more elastic, reduces the appearance of cellulite, decreases eye wrinkles, reduces wrinkle depth, increases the smoothness of skin, and reduces the visible signs of aging. Subjects also report an improvement in their quality of life. Studies have also shown there have been no adverse outcomes for ingesting Collagen. Dr Dray says there is lots of research happening but all research so far has been promising and positive. And she believes Collagen will eventually be a common treatment for many skin conditions.
But she said Collagen is only effective if it is ingested. Applying collagen topically only temporarily increases skin hydration. She also warned that Collagen may not work for everyone. .
She discuses the studies in this video. https://youtu.be/z2PLnQtpEmk
I personally have used Collagen and it definitely works for me. I have taken Collagen for about 6 months and it definitely decreased the wrinkles around my eyes and my mouth. And it improved the pain in my hip, shoulders and knees (I played volleyball in HS and College and the joints on my right side of my body were destroyed). I believe in it so much that I put it in my husband's tea everyday and I recommend it to all of my friends.
I use this brand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_XBJsFb42M3SQR.
It has 45,000 reviews from verified purchases. And they don't give you any incentives (ex. Free supplements) for a 5 star review.
This is what I use. I mix it into my coffee in the morning, it has no tase at all:

It has almost 48,000 positive reviews on Amazon. And it is more affordable than the brand that is often promoted by the influencers on Instagram.
I have bought it 4 times and have noticed big differences on my skin and joint pain. My husband is currently losing weight so he started using it too.
Just put one scoop in hot water, tea or coffee. I personally don't notice any taste or smell.

Do you suspect you may have loose skin? If yes you could do a collagen protein shake. Skin replaces all its cells every 3-4 months and collagen is kinda hard to get from food sources and it improves skin elasticity. I wish I would of done it a long time ago, it definitely helps with hair too!
I've done a lot of looking into the 'cleanest' source and Vital Nutrients is just one ingredient...collagen (amazon link below). I have not tried this one yet, but I will after my current supply is out.
https://www.amazon.com/Vital-Proteins-Collagen-Peptides-Pasture-Raised/dp/B00K6JUG4K
I am currently using Ancient Nutrition Collagen Bone Broth (vanilla), and I put a 1.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk in my little blender with 5 or 6 mixed berries and its DELICIOUS.
https://www.amazon.com/Ancient-Nutrition-Collagen-All-Natural-Co-Factors/dp/B01N6AYQ9D?th=1
By the way, there are no side effects and its completely safe to take collagen.
Yes, and you should start right now! I wish I did as my loose skin in my belly would make Freddy Krueger scream in horror.
It is scientifically proven that taking collagen peptides improves elasticity of skin, this is what you want. I was going to make a post about this here but I keep forgetting to do it. The skin replaces all its cells about every 3-4 months, the 'glue' that it uses is collagen and its hard to get from food sources.

https://www.amazon.com/Vital-Proteins-Collagen-Peptides-Pasture-Raised/dp/B00K6JUG4K
I am currently using Ancient Nutrition Collagen Bone Broth (vanilla), and I put a 1.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk in my little blender with 5 or 6 mixed berries and its DELICIOUS.

By the way, there are no side effects and its completely safe to take collagen.
Important topic! Thanks for bringing it up!
Here is the one I take. Just add to my morning smoothie. Great for joints, bones and skin. collagen
I've started adding collagen powder to my oatmeal and hot drinks (coffee and tea). It's pure, flavorless protein and apparently good for joint health... which is a plus with all the running and jumping lately.
I get it here but there are plenty of other options: Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate Beef, Kosher, 16 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005KG7EDU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_eV7OCbHGSFRND
In the meantime I suggest you supplement with Collagen protein like this one...Collagen Peptides Powder (16oz) | Grass-Fed, Certified Paleo Friendly, Non-Gmo and Gluten Free - Unflavored https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Tz9CCb0P7H702
I added collagen to my daily regimen and it helps, a couple of scoops in my go cup of coffee in the morning and fish oil at night and the joint pain is subsiding.
https://www.amazon.com/Collagen-Peptides-Grass-Fed-Certified-Friendly/dp/B00XQ2XGAA
I have one scoop of this every morning in my coffee or oatmeal and in about a month or two I noticed a huge difference. Looking through the reviews on Amazon and searching acne or breakouts will tell you more about it!
Yeah I was really skeptical but it's helped my pain. I used to get awful throbbing pain after a busy day or before it rained and this has stopped that for me.
Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/Great-Lakes-Gelatin-Hydrolysate-Unflavored/dp/B005KG7EDU/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1534720684&sr=8-3&keywords=great+lakes+collagen
Here's some supplement stuff, but since body chemistry is different in everyone, it may/may not work for you. Do a 30 day trial and treat it like a science experiment.
I did a magnesium trial as I realized I was deficient in it as are 40-50% of the US population. It worked for me, so I dumped the liquid glucosamine I was taking.
Tim Ferris clued his followers in on Collagen Hydrolysate ::: https://www.amazon.com/Great-Lakes-Hydrolysate-Pasture-Raised-Frustration/dp/B01A1G47L0/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1528280208&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=collagen+hydrolysate&psc=1
That stuff works wildly well for myself and the two others in the dojo. Outside the dojo, I recommended it to more folks and 3 of them took time to thank me for the immediate relief. One tablespoon a day is good for me.
I also do a low carb diet and that may be helping with less inflammation as well.
I am 56 years old ... did 3 hours of class yesterday. Got thrown all over the mat ... maybe 60 total falls. Feeling great this morning.
Get some dojo buddies to work together with you. People won't talk to each other about this unless you bring it up. Verify personal results with each other.
I started adding two scoops (20p) of collagen peptides to my daily intake. I drink it with some pomegranate juice or almond milk. Its essentially protein powder with some other great benefits for joints, digestion, connective tissue, etc. I get mine at costco.

OH! I have opposite problem now. lol
I have pcos and hair in places I don't want it. However my nails were getting sooo dry and brittle and hair was not falling out but was getting very icky dry and no lustre.
about a month ago I started using collagen. it's soooo amazing! I add it to my keto desserts, bone broth soup, and protein shakes. Pretty much I just toss a spoonful in when I cook most things.
My nails are strong again, my skin and hair looks much much healthier. Here is the one I use becuase it's a good price compared to most: https://www.amazon.com/Collagen-Peptides-Hydrolyzed-Grass-Fed-Certified/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1529165519&sr=1-4&keywords=collagen
and a link to dr. axe about benefits of it https://draxe.com/what-is-collagen/
has 0 carbs and 10 grams protein (lots of essential amino acids) per scoop
Every morning I take my normal dosage of women's gummies (Costco), a fish/krill oil, and a probiotic that I buy through a family member. The collagen powder I take is this one and I really like it! I can mix it with my morning coffee or in smoothies and it's not gelatinous (the red container is).
This is the one I take, no idea if it actually does anything but my hairdresser is always commenting on how fast my hair grows https://smile.amazon.com/Neocell-Super-Collagen-Tablet-6000mg/dp/B00028NGEC/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1525193574&sr=1-4&keywords=collagen+supplements and these are the vitamins https://smile.amazon.com/Nature-Made-Prenatal-Softgels-Value/dp/B005DEK9KE/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1525193648&sr=1-4&keywords=prenatal&th=1 be careful with those though, I take those ones because they have iron and I am slightly anemic, but if you aren't anemic the iron may not be good for you.
Are you taking a collagen supplement? You won't see the effects immediately, but I tore my ACL back in August and started taking it to aid in my recovery. Who knows if it's helped my ACL but my hair / skin / nails look amazing. It's also an easy way to pad your diet with 10 extra grams of protein. This is the one i'm using - one scoop in my tea in the mornings - it dissolves completely and is tasteless. A word to the wise though, it can cause stomach upset at first, so start with a tiny bit and build up to a full scoop. https://www.amazon.com/Hydrolyzed-Collagen-Peptides-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00XQ2XGAA?th=1
I feel ya though. I'm also cutting and it's a chore. Going to bed hungry is no fun but the last few months were pretty indulgent for me so I keep trying to remember how much I enjoyed those and telling myself it was worth it to have to do this now! Hang in there.
Intermittent fasting is supposed to help with aotophagy, which is the process of your cells actually replacing themselves. So, that is definitely a place to start looking!
For collagen, I've heard good things about this brand: https://www.amazon.com/Great-Lakes-Gelatin-Collagen-Hydrolysate/dp/B005KG7EDU
Ah, ok. Yeah, that would be an issue in my book :-) But I'm spoiled as he does sleep through.
Two things we've done... if our LO really won't eat, he will ALWAYS eat a yogurt pouch. (Seems to be the one thing he doesn't refuse.) So we'll give him one of those at the end, to make sure he has a full belly.
If she'll drink milk, you can get a flavorless protein powder that dissolves in (cold or warm) milk and add a bit in to her milk, to try to "top her up" a bit? We've tried this one When he's teething and he just will.not.eat. we add it to his milk.
I've tried a couple, but this is my favorite for the price/size of container. https://www.amazon.com/Hydrolyzed-Collagen-Peptides-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1516907802&sr=8-5&keywords=collagen+powder
I use this every day for extra protein in my BPC. It's tasteless. So much so that when my 6 and 9 year-old niece and nephew tried just the powder (I told them it was ground bones, lol) they said it didn't taste like anything.
I had the same problem! I make my third one with almond milk only to avoid going over on fat.
Collagen powder has been a godsend to me. A scoop adds 10g of protein and it dissolves amazingly well with no leftover taste. I currently use this brand: https://www.amazon.com/Collagen-Peptides-Grass-Fed-Certified-Friendly/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1511795880&sr=8-4&keywords=collagen%2Bpowder&th=1
I personally cannot stand most protein powders, even Isopure.
I tried a couple whey powders and just could not stand the taste they added. That seems to really be a personal preference thing though.
Collagen dissolves easily and mixes great in an immersion blender. It's more expensive and doesn't add a ton of protein through. I just wanted my BPC to have some amount of protein.
I use this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_apa_vfjbAbEZCXSH7
Taking a collagen supplement is supposed to be helpful with joint pain.
I use youtheory Collagen Advanced Formula 1, 2 and 3, 290 Tablets https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006VAZYNG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_GfnjNSxTwjrwv for other reasons but helping with joint pain is listed as a benefit.
I've been on Accutane for 5 months and am very active, I haven't had any joint issues. I can't say whether or not these pills have actually helped or if I've just gotten lucky, but they may be worth a try. Good luck!
I like to mix a tbsp of unsweetened cocoa and hydrolyzed collagen into my daily coffee, but I'm also a weird health nut. If you go to Starbucks, I'd recommend getting a 'blonde' because it has more caffeine and antioxidants than a darker roast.
This is the collagen hydrolysate I meant https://www.amazon.com/Great-Lakes-Gelatin-Collagen-Hydrolysate/dp/B005KG7EDU
There's billions of vegan protein powders out there. The only protein powder I use is this which isn't even a complete protein. I get plenty of protein just by eating 3200 calories.
When you say your hands do you mean your palms or the tops? Or both?
I've been taking collagen daily and it's fixed my dry hands. The skin between my knuckles was cracking and bleeding occasionally... not anymore!
This is the specific stuff I've used: https://www.amazon.com/Collagen-Peptides-Grass-Fed-Certified-Friendly/dp/B00XQ2XGAA/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1496418976&sr=8-1&keywords=sports+research+collagen
I am taking collagen (in powder form) in hopes my hair gets stronger (I have a lot of strands, but they are thin.) So far it's made my hair longer and helped my nails and eyelashes. Might be worth a try!
"I don't really care for sweets" --usually works better for me than "can't" but YMMV
This is my go to protein powder, but I only use it on days when I'm not really in the mood to eat meat. It goes pretty well in coffee and I even had some mixed with peanut butter once and I couldn't taste it at all.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6JUG4K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Try eating some gelatin. It increases the collagen in your skin which will help fight stretch marks and just makes your skin healthier in general. You can use it like protein powder.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005KG7EDU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4Cz5ybDTAZ98R
I alternative between Great Lakes and Sports Research Here
I should note that for my elbow (which injured while doing overhead presses. Worst lifting injury i've ever had), I tried almost everything to heal it, and it was still causing me pain after heavy workouts. Now not only is there no pain, but it also helped the crackling in my knee's.
Regarding skin, i've noticed much less acne. However for mental enhancement, haven't noticed anything.
I get mine off of amazon. It doesn't taste like anything, melts in either warm or cold liquid. There's tons of different kinds but I like this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A1G47L0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1
edited to add: That is the one that melts in liquid, some thicken things like normal gelatin, some have a taste. I can add that one to water and it doesn't taste like anything.
I use collagen in my morning coffee and added to my post-workout protein stack as a joint health supplement. I've been using it for about six months, and an old (10+ years) nagging climbing injury of mine no longer hurts.
Could be totally unrelated, but it's relatively cheap, available on Amazon, has some protein, and certainly isn't going to hurt anything.
