I still have the game guides I bought when it released on N64. And the hardcover edition from a few years ago sealed away in a still unopened chest, maybe one day I'll open it.
"every day we stray away from god" - The Unofficial Holy Bible for Minecrafters: A Children's Guide to the Old and New Testament
Holy shit!! Thank you!!! I could afford the hardcover now <3 <3 <3

I love this one ! It's got tons of information and beautiful illustrations
Right now the hardback is 25.46 for prime members on Amazon.
Red Dead Redemption 2: The Complete Official Guide Collector's Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/1911015540/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4pSXBb5HA4YPQ
I'm with you. I don't have a ton of time to play. I saw the hardback guide was only $24 in Amazon so I picked it up.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: The Complete Official Guide Collector's Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/1911015222/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_3PUUybPPR8KG2
They also have the paperback for like $16. I use it when I get stuck, but you could use it for the whole game as well. Plus it's a really well made book.
Amazon link here. There's currently a week to two week wait before it ships although some are saying theirs are arriving earlier. I ordered mine from Barnes and Noble and it got here in 3 days and it was only like a dollar more and had free shipping.
If you are not aware of this, KOTOR was based off of the D20 version of the Star Wars role playing game. (It was published by Wizards of the Coast. They lost the license and Fantasy Flight Games picked it up, but FFG's version of the game is not the same system.)
Here is a link to the core book on Amazon.
So everyone here is going to pretend like lengthy manuals came with the game itself? I remember purchasing game manuals for Pokémon Blue, Ocarina of Time, Halo: Combat Evolved, etc. Always separate but prominent within the section. Even now I can say I own the 544 page VDSG! Amazon link, but I bought mine at a local comic book store. Come on now...don't bandwagon without researching. Also pay no attention to that bolded "condensed edition" right on the cover..
Is the oficial guide look in Amazon
It bring a giant map with al shrines and kolog seeds
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild: The Complete Official Guide https://www.amazon.com.mx/dp/1911015486/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6OnaBb8VNNEC6
This is a pretty neat book that covers allot of stuff in game and the dlc, as well as concept art and other shenanigans! Got this for my girlfriend and she loved it! Zelda: BOTW Ultimate Guide
Actually, Amazon lowered their price for Collector's Edition:
$24
$28
I think minigames being in BotW are a pretty safe bet now - taken directly from the description of the official player's guide (which can be seen on Amazon, among other places), it says:
> Also includes optional challenges, mini-games, unlockables, Easter eggs, and more.
It's not as reliable as seeing the minigames for ourselves, but it'd be kinda weird if the description mentioned them without any reason. So here's hoping!
I ordered it off Amazon and it was just delivered yesterday so I haven't had much time to look through it. That said, what I have seen has made it worth it.
This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Complete-Official-Collectors/dp/1911015222/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488756288&sr=8-1&keywords=breath+of+the+wild+guide
Bonus: It has a poster map of Hyrule that has various landmarks marked on it. It has several sections to it that in include an Intro, a Walkthrough, information about the various monsters in the game, and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head. All on top of it being hardback with a beautiful cover that makes it very deserving of the visual quality of the game in my opinion.
I don't know nearly as much about it as I'd like but was also decently interested in game writing/narrative a short while back and picked up this book . It taught me a lot about work in the field and includes a lot of tips and info that I found pretty valuable and interesting. There's even some sample scripts to show format and short exercises throughout the chapters. I misplaced my copy otherwise I'd go into more detail but you can take a look on Amazon anyway.
I'm sure there are better books out there and doubtlessly info online but something like that could be a good starting point.
But hell, if you figure out how to work RPG maker, definitely go for it, having something to present to display your work/writing is always a great idea if you do want to seek out a team.
Good luck with your ventures, bud !
I mentioned it on another post. Right now the Collectors is available for pre order on Amazon for $25.46 if you're a prime member. ( Red Dead Redemption 2: The Complete Official Guide Collector's Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/1911015540/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_KavYBb7S3Q5R1 )
You should try to get ahold of one of the Star Wars rpg books. You will not have to adapt things or figure out how magic into the force. The Revised Core Rulebook is $22 on Amazon right now and the system works great. The book will also give you a bunch of the lore, species, and technology you will need to make a great game.
A word of warning Star Wars plays differently then D&D. It leans heavier on the roleplaying aspects with an increased use of social skills. It is not go to a dungeon and kill monsters.
Also Wookapedia has so much information about the Star Wars universe. It is a great reference guide.
To add to other posts, I found that this book builds a bit of a bridge between game design and writing for games, just to get a bit into that topic:
My experience working with writers is:
Unless we're talking about rather linear sequences of "cutscenes" throughout a game (Naugthy Dog's "Uncharted" or "The Last Of Us" as examples) in a lot of RPG and Action Games the lines writers effectively write are sometimes at best a few "minutes of dialogues for cutscenes".
Where I'm getting at: Writers that focus on "lines of dialogue" mostly have a focus on very short lines of dialogue for enemy/NPC reactions or other feedback you hear in the middle of the action (so-called "barks", lines during combat we hear from enemies or lines we here in God Of War from the character Atreus to show character and/or companionship/support), lines used to interact with NPCs like shop keepers and quest givers, and possibly pieces we write for so-called audio logs or books you find in the game to cover a single NPC, faction or lore/history/culture to give the player more (optional) context.
So my impression as a developer on Batman Arkham City, Batman: Arkham City and an unshipped title I worked on recently was that there are writers working on more traditional story arcs that tie the whole story together, still a lot of work has to go into hours of lines of dialogue you hear as part of the NPC interactions in the game which inevitably means that those lines have to be very short and possibly there's a large set of lines you hear over and over again (generic greetings by shop keepers with some variation; combat "barks"; etc.)
Oh hell yes it does. It will tell you everything you need to know, and where everything is. Quests, random encounters, workshops, locations, armor, weapons, loot, everything. I've bought them for all of Bethesda's games.
It's an encyclopedia.
Forgot to put in the link http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Dwellers-Survival-Collectors-Edition/dp/0744016312
Amazon lists the book as 448 pages, not 460. "Hardcover: 448 pages" http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Vault-Dwellers-Survival-Collectors/dp/0744016312/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1446659833&sr=8-3
I don't usually do this, but I just preordered the strategy guide to go along with my second play through. It says it will arrive between the 19-23 despite releasing on Tuesday but I still expect it this week.
I found The Ultimate Guide to Video Writing and Design quite good.
Before I knew a bit about writing and was very experienced in game programming.
This book brings some aspects together, for example working with design, a narrative stretching over many levels (and along with the levels) and thus the connection between story/characters and world/levels (one can come before the other, they inform each other), and license/publisher concerns.
Not exactly, no, but for my birthday a few years ago I was given this. https://www.amazon.com/Red-Dead-Redemption-Complete-Collectors/dp/1911015540
This is the closest i've seen to something like that. It's more of an old-school guide book, but it contains literally everything in the game.
Yes. All of this. Write cut scenes, incidental dialogue, supporting mythologies, high-level design documents, etc. Flint and I wrote a book on this: https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Guide-Video-Writing-Design/dp/158065066X/

Yikes, sorry for the long link. Anyway, this one's a huge guide I personally own that I love and read through frequently. It doesn't go very deep on the lore, but it's an awesome walkthrough and tip book, with detailed instructions for every shrine, every Korok location, and plenty of useful tips and tricks. It also comes with a large map of Hyrule you can consult or hang up. Hope this helps!
Buy the Zelda botw Bible. It has everything if you get stuck, maps, locations, recipes, armor locations/ and powers etc.

Such a cool collection, I would advise to never sale any of it. Having this complete of a set might be priceless one day. Do you have that chest of guidebooks?

This is what you want. Santa is bringing me one 😂

Damn. Thats the best Zelda shrine/setup ive ever seen.
You have some crazy nice stuff and love the vidya games.
Just wondering tho.. wheres the chest with the 3 rubies that gamestop was selling? I know it was overpriced at like $100 or maybe 150 or 200 i cant recall. And lots of people bitched about the quality of the workmanship on the rubies as some had little air pockets or imperfections in the resin they were cast in.
I also thing it makes that cool sound when you open the chest up.
Would be a great addition to have front and center with maybe a triforce clock / lamp or something that played the zelda tune when it illuminated.
My oldest daughter (9) really started to get into zelda as she started to get into video games.. Shed watch me play BOTW and just was crazy about it. So i got her that badass hardcopy zeld book that has information on every.single.thing in that game. Its gold and had zelda on the front.
Dont see that in your collection. I want to say it might have been like 20 or 30 bucks. So very cheap for litterally the best game guide or book i have ever seen for any game, ever.
But you are definitely doing it right. This is the way.
This is the book im referring to. Its like 35 bucks right now on amazon, and is, of course, a best seller in game guides.
