I know a pretty cheap book you can order on Amazon. I think this may be what you're looking for.
An Incomplete Education: 3,684 Things You Should Have Learned but Probably Didn't https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000S1LE3I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_hkCCAb20QWKP3
I started reading You Are Not So Smart last night. The e-book is only 2$ on Amazon! I'm really excited to see what I learn. Has anyone else read this?
This followed a very sloppy argument I had last night. Someone argued with me all day yesterday in an attempt to defend the neo-nazi's and white supremacist's protest in Charlottesville. I could have probably been less hostile and way more clear in my arguments. But I'm beginning to think maybe it's pointless to argue with someone that dogmatic. They will refuse to change their view no matter what. :(
This immediately came to mind

Synopsis:
"Rhonda is a noble giant, a huge savage beauty learning to become a ranger and a chieftess. But five centuries after a terrible war eliminated the noble giants' civilization, Rhonda wakes up alone on a runic ritual site far from home. Her culture is plundered, erased, and nearly forgotten. Terrible beasts roam the land, and smaller beings are taking over. Stranger yet, there's a mystical mechanism revealing to Rhonda her class, attributes, perks, star power, and more. It's the Star System! And its master could be an eldritch thing covering the world, unknown to all except the giantess herself. Follow Rhonda and her friends on an epic CONQUEST to collect star power, go berserk on their enemies, and make an impact no one can ignore. The noble giants' civilization may have fallen, but it's Rhonda's birthright to shake the realm."

Normally I restrain myself to giving terrible or depressing life advice, but this one touched me. So instead, I'm going to drop a heavy book on you.
Check out An Incomplete Education: 3,684 Things You Should Have Learned but Probably Didn't but don't try to read it all at once as it would be overwhelming. Read it in sections that interest you as you learn related topics.
For the meat and potatoes, check out Khan Academy. Pick a subject, set yourself up as a first grader equivalent and try to do all of its tests. Grade up until you hit a wall and work their content.
I regularly do curriculum on Khan as an adult to keep my mind from turning into concrete.
> Charles McCay’s Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds.
I looked on Amazon to buy it but it is priced at $923.23 for hard cover

> Most people will do everything they fucking can to pretend a situation isn’t dangerous and volatile.
This is actually an observable psychological phenomenon:

There's other shit too but I can't remember right now. A great book on the subject is You Are Not So Smart, by David Mcraney.
So yeah I'm with you on that, people really don't give the human brain enough credit much of the time, the perception of what people do or what you would do versus what you'll likely do is sometimes so different.
EDIT:
Though I do disagree with you on people's propensity to "do something about it" with "regular" assault versus sexual assault. There's a TON more stigma with sexual assault, and it's so contextual:
workplace (power imbalances, people reacting differently if it were male or female victim/perpetrator)
sexual assault versus men (by women or men): there's a very different additional stigma to men reporting this, first off sexual assault against men is unfortunately more lightly seen by people (Look at Terry Crews, AND he's so famous and powerful, imagine average Joe instead), second the whole preserving of the ego and machismo and all that, etc.
in a relationship especially within certain cultures, the whole idea of not breaking up a unit or a family, again the gender differences in perception and reactions, etc.
It's so complex...
But anyway, point being that it makes sense that it's much tougher actively stopping, or coming forth about sexual assault. And as such, when someone does it with boldness and courage or even "fuck you" attitude, it's especially noticeable and admirable (imo).
