On my last car the cd player was a handy spot for my phone mount.

I ordered this hands-free mount from Amazon and it's a good one. Thanks to voice recognition I can say "Hey Google, load the TDOT Smartway webserver" and it'll pop up. And with Bluetooth, I can take calls over my car's stereo system instead of using my hands. If you have an older car without Bluetooth, you can add it for $18 with this adapter. I have one in my older Subaru, and it's good to go there. It has a surprisingly good microphone built-in, as well as a quick charger.
After trying many options I have ultimately settled on the iOttie Easy One Touch 5 Air Vent Car Mount Phone Holder
I like that it adapts to many sizes of phone so if I change device or case I can still use the same mount. It doesn’t rely on magnets or anything like that, the clamps adapt to the width of the phone and the base has a cradle to hold it up. It comes with a little magnet to attach to your charging cable and you can attach it to the back of the mount so now my cable doesn’t get stepped on or ruined from dampness on my matts. The package includes both a vent mount and a 3M sticky mount so you have a few options for where you can put it. There is also a version that you can suction cup to your window.
So far I’ve had a chance to use it with my iPhone 12 Pro Max and it works great, even with my folio case on the phone! I’m very happy with the purchase so far and don’t have any complaints other than the price (it was more expensive than I wanted to pay but it works so well that I think it is still good value for the money I paid).

I drive a 2014 Honda Civic and love this phone mount holder. I have an iPhone 7 and been using this phone mount holder for over a year now and it still works like new. Super sturdy, extremely secured and rigid, and has a quick release button. All the reviews on amazon speak for themselves. My girlfriend recently stole this phone mount holder from me so I had to buy another one haha
I've tried a few different mounts and have to say i absolutely love this one from amazon. Clips to the air vents. I keep it just to the right of my steering wheel (US). It's one of the cheapest mounts on the market i think and it stays very firm and keeps my phone very secure, which is saying a lot because i'm a delivery driver and spend many hours a day driving my fist like a fist is supposed to be driven
Pixel6 used to fit great in this car mount perfectly.
The Pixel7 side buttons are too low - the VolDn button is depressed by the mount, even after fully adjusting the mount. stupid
My wife uses a stand that latches onto the a/c vent fins. She seems content with it... although about every 3 or 4 months it seems to loosen a bit and she will 'reset' it.
I'm using one of those flexible arm mounts, and placing the phone holder inbetween the screens. This is the one I bought. So far its working out and not blocking anything since it sits between the screens.
Bought a CD mount, because we never used the CD drive.
Not sure of your setup, but this might work! https://www.amazon.com/Windshield-Anti-Shake-Stabilizer-Compatible-Smartphone/dp/B097D7XKKZ/ref=zg_bs_7072562011_6/140-9819014-3725345?pd_rd_i=B09WPCJ4KT&psc=1
I have one for mine! It just BARELY fits, but it does fit.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073R68TSH
it has 2 lock settings "I" and "II" - the "I" is the less pressure one and it just BARELY squeezes on there. So it will take a bit of pushing to get it on initially, but it works great. rock solid for me so far.
I have an S20+ and use this phone mount. It sits really securely in the CD slot even with my big phone in a case. I have the EX-L Navi trim and it does make my phone sit over the screen a bit, the only time I find that problematic is when I'm trying to use my backup camera, but it's great otherwise. I've just been snapping it in as soon as I'm out of the driveway and it's worked well.
Airbuds suck ass in the car
double din with car play is expensive, cmon you drive a 20 year old jeep
the magnet ones suck a lot of ass, your phone will fall off

I just got this one last week after trying out 5 amazon phone holders. i put in on the window with the little holder thing on the dash, super solid. I can even post a video of it holding up at 80 mph speeds w/ death wobble
I don’t use my CD player nor have oem navigation so I use it as my phone mount with something similar to this: iOttie Easy One Touch 5 CD Slot Universal Car Mount Phone Holder for iPhone, Samsung, Moto, Huawei, Nokia, LG, Smartphones https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B088GJBLLY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_W28WPB700PAG5PKW49SA
I find it more reliable and sturdy than vent mounts.
Highly suggest this over the vent holder. Works incredible with the IS series including the new 2021+ MY redesign. (works with 2015+ as a whole).
I personally used it on my 2018 IS350 I had.

Ive been using this for my pixel 3 for a while now and it still works great with my pixel 6 pro.

Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount This thing is rock solid and can be used to Mount phone, GPS, GoPro, etc. got it off Amazon for like $40.
I use the flush mount in my car (too heavy for the vent). Works well and clamps the device enough to keep it secure
16 with sync 3 should require a USB slot upgrade for Carplay, but not for AA (I had/have both). I've got the same truck (we're F150-twins!).
Those fingers make me a bit twichy, ngl. I like the multi-part print do you can orient the layers for the best performance. I printed a cup holder mount and epoxied in a USB-C for drop-in convenience but has to abandon it when I defected to Apple last year and I was to busy to print and mold a lightning version.
Not to take anything away from printing, but this holder is absolutely incredible. Easily holds a big phone + case, never sags. Back up plan, just in case.
iOttie Easy One Touch 5 Air Vent... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088G1ZLN4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Snaps together well and the arms are definitely long enough. Found a decent spot to put the adhesive as the air vent did not work and have been rolling with it ever since
I actually rented that one I think, its the cheapest automatic one they have right?
I was able to use a vent cell phone stand, but it would only fit on the left side (so near the door).
To be specific, since its in my amazon history, I used this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073R68TSH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Which lol they are offering an 80% coupon code? I just got another one for $3...

I use a RAM mount phone holder clamped to a T-cycle cockpit mini T.
Need a couple of extensions for the Ram mount, but so far it’s working for my ICE Adventure HD.
In a 2013 Forester I use a junky little vent mount that actually works better than the more fancy ones I’ve tried: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073R68TSH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_dlC_1hOZFbKNM4H0R
But a little more worried about vent damage now that my new iPhone (11) is way heavier than my old one (6s) so also looking for other mount suggestions.
I absolutely love my set up. I have this mount
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RRNBG5N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I popped off the panel in the center console by drivers right leg. Plugged the usb cable in compartment and ran the cable behind the panel. It comes out right below the vent to the right of the steering wheel, where this mount is attached to said vent. Took my like 10 minutes. All I have to do is place my phone in mount, it grabs it, and its charging. No visible cables, nothing. Like someone said here, visibility isn't the best but you get used to it and its great.
How about the basic car mounts that squeeze your phone until it secures it? There's a bunch on Amazon that are decently priced such as this one.

If you are gonna have to show up anyway, why not get a car phone holder and see if they'll drop the ticket. $15 at amazon with prime one day shipping?

Love the RAM mount system. I have a quad lock case and it is wonderful. Most stable secure mount I have ever had.
