Ok so here it is I ordered 1 12U open server rack from Amazon a couple weeks ago. First package never showed up so Amazon said it probably got lost in shipping and they'd send me another one. Second one was supposed to be delivered yesterday but got a notice saying it couldn't be delivered (don't blame em) and I'd have to go pick it up from the local Post Office.
Show up this morning and the guy says I hope you have a truck and tells me to drive around to the loading dock. I was confused but went along with it thinking it was just heavy (40-50lbs rack). I go back and he is sitting there with a pallet. I realize what happened at that moment. After we load em up he asks when I'm coming back for the other pallet? Apparently the 1st order was there also. Told him to return the other pallet to sender.
Checked my Amazon order and confirmed the quantity was 1 and I was also only charged for 1 (about $210). Should I contact Amazon about this or just keep quiet and see what happens? We're talking about $2300 worth of server racks here.
edit: Don't bother asking for one at this point, I've got a long list of people messaging me for a chance to get one. First come first serve. There's not enough to go around any more. Merry Christmas.
edit edit: UPDATE! So I reached out to Amazon's customer support, they said I could keep the extras and assured me I wouldn't be charged. I made it very clear that I wanted to do the right thing and would return them, if it could be arranged, since I didn't pay for all these but they said don't worry about it. Took screenshots as proof. I'll probably get my Amazon account removed.... I'm still going to wait a month or so before distributing any to friends, family, and my fellow lucky redditors.
Agree, have a 128GB and 256GB and no issues in the couple years I've had them. Cheaper and more portable than other name brands

Nice catch, I missed that. Amazon uses that same picture for the 16, 32, 64 and 128gb variants though:
https://www.amazon.de/SanDisk-USB-Flash-Laufwerk-150-MB-Neueste-Version/dp/B01BGTG2A0/
I have the 128gb on my desk and it looks just like that.
Its a $119 on Amazon
That's a sizeable markup.
I have the below Sandisk Ultra, works on my MBP and iPad Pro without issue. And if I use a Lighting to USB adapter works on my iPhone.
Also burning hot temperatures. I used one on a GPD win and it got so hot you wouldn't want to touch it. Couldn't even install a game on it without it overheating and slowing down.
I ended going with the samsung Fit instead, a bit slower but it doesn't feel like it's going to burst into flames.
Synology 4 bay NAS DiskStation DS920+ (Diskless), 4-bay; 4GB DDR4 for 440 anyone seen a better deal on this? Looking to possibly pull the trigger on one today.

Looking at the specs yours has a read speed of 10 MBS
That is criminally slow. Return it and get one that is faster.
The spec is usually on the amazon page.

Bought them for $109 on amazon during BF, and shuck them. AMA
edit: mine was this one, so I'm not sure if it's the same one guys. Sorry about that :/
exactly, this device would essentially work like a USB drive and a mouse plugged into a single hub. so if your company blocks USB drives (see top level comment) then it will continue to block the USB drive part of this device since the computer can't hide that it's a USB drive and get it to work as one at the same time.
if your company doesn't block USB drives, then just get something discreet like this, and keep it hidden or say it's a mouse receiver.
If you're okay with open racks, you could check the Startech 12U one, I have the 25U one and it's good quality IMO. Here is the amazon page; https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com-Adjustable-Depth-Server-Cabinet/dp/B00P1RJ9LS/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=startech%2Brack&qid=1553636746&s=gateway&sr=8-5&th=1
As a gen1 Pro owner my take is that the only reason to get the Gen2 Pro is if you are running Plex Server on it or you require the IR receiver. You can expand the internal storage with a USB3.0 flash drive. The old specs listed a 128GB limit. The new specs mention a specific 128 drive as a recommended model but do not mention a storage limit. Still for $28 on Amazon you can have 144GB storage.
Yes, Firecuda SSHD is still the best option for the money without spending the same amount as you spent for your console on SSD. Although there's currently a discount on 1TB SSD on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-2-5-Inch-Height-SDSSDHII-960G-G25/dp/B00M8ABHVQ
My recommendation is to buy Firecuda and be happy.
Amazon is offering the Ledger Nano S as a lightning deal for $69.99 if anyone is interested.
here's one for $130 on amazon, I got a deal on mine though a few months back.
Also on Amazon for the same price: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M8ABHVQ/ref=pe_825000_114657650_TE_item
You can also use 15OFFNOW for another up to $20 off if you have PrimeNow available in your area.
For the time, money and hackering you're going to invest on this, assuming you have or can buy the rails for your server better get a 12U rack like this and you're done.
Or you can buy these and mount them to hold the server at the very bottom of your rack, just beware it might tip off at somepoint if there's too much tinkering on it.
I printed the 12-pi version and running the same hardware. k3s has been great, but I got woefully small SD cards when I put everything together and need to get some better storage. SanDisk makes some compact USB drives that I'm waiting on to come in. Currently using RPi-OS, but I'll probably go back to Ubuntu once I have more storage.
The PoE fan not working in ESXi was a huge bummer for me. It's a shame it still hasn't been fixed.
Yeah, plus it seems they aren't going to support transactions via mytrezor web either? WTF? Talk about losing loyal customers. I don't have time to wait any longer. I came looking for this info because I was trying to decide, keep my Trezor or purchase a Nano S. (BTC/ETH )

These are my thoughts:
- Do you have a machine that works for you right now? If you do, I'd be really tempted to wait a month or two to order, for them to get the issues worked out manufacturing the 15". Just my 2 cents, I realize it's annoying advice lol.
- I was going to say you don't need to pay extra for the processor, but then I realized it's i5 to i7, I can see doing that.
- Memory is good, 16gb is the "never need to upgrade" point.
- I've had 2 drives before, and I HATE it. Every time I run across a config like that it's a constant pain in the ass. One of the drives always gets filled up, or I reinstall the software and it loses track of the second drive (happened on my dad's computer), etc. I will never do that again. I ordered the cheapest base drive, and a 1gb sandisk for $250 from amazon -

On the screen size, lol that sounds fine with me. Personally, I debated between 15" and 17". I don't really find a "real" difference in portability, I've been using a 17" for several years now. It's mostly just that the 15" looks cooler when I'm using it, the 17" looks a little big to use and carry around. I couldn't convince myself I wouldn't miss the screen size though, and I wanted to be able to use it in as wide a variety of situations as possible, so I went with the 17".
Also went with the 4k display, but I won't argue that one. :D
Here's a pretty good deal at Amazon, a 5TB external drive for $109:
Amazon currently has the 5tb Seagate Expansion for only a few dollars more. You can always take it out of the enclosure if you don't care about the warranty.

The only irony here is that /u/MegaHz may not know amazon.ca exists:

$50 CAD, free shipping. Of course if you're buying from US Amazon, it's going to SHIP from the US.
Someone posted SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive from Best Buy here the other day.
They were $25 plus $5 shipping at BB, today on Amazon they're $21.99 w/ free shipping. There's other sizes as well, seems like a great deal.
Network Attached Storage (NAS) is simply a computer with lots of hard drive space attached to my home network. Plex is an application that can interface with a NAS to provide a nice UI for a media library.
The NAS holds my media files, and I use Plex to play them. Blu Ray / 4k BluRay are high resolution digital video formats.
Used this for a couple of builds for small clients. $207 with prime.
