Plus PAPER CLINCH Compact Green Heavy Duty, Light, Staple Free Stapler (31251) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KYP2OYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BftIDb64N124T
That uses a different method, but if you look for Japanese staplers on Amazon you should find a few.
Not in the class so I’m not entirely sure if this is exactly what you’re talking about, but here’s a staple-free stapler . Other staple-free staplers are available.
Kokuyo Harinacs Press Staple-free Stapler; With this Item, You Can Staple Pieces of Paper Without Making Any Holes on Paper(White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O9N1BHA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SDxKCbXWRP3E9
This looks like it has the same pattern!
Before you go too far down the road of flips, get yourself a Flat Stapler ASAP. Regular staplers cause the staples on the back to stick out a lot. This damages binder pages or other flips and makes them take up more space.(I learned this the hard way after a couple thousand flips...)
This is the one that I have. It is a noisy beast, but I believe it is spring-loaded, so you never have to strain when stapling. My ONLY gripe with it, it that you cannot open it up to staple things onto walls/bulletin boards. If you need to be able to staple stuff to walls, I would suggest this one.
Or you could be an amazing sibling and buy her both!
Most of the libraries should have them near the printing centers or just at the front desks; you can also ask a prof for one especially if it's a small class! For the future, I absolutely suggest getting a mini stapler... no point getting a full size one, and the mini ones are just adorable! and so easy to keep by your desk. (I've got this one for $6, same-day delivery, 1000 staples -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008DQY89M)
If you really don’t need one often, Fishbowl (or really any of the libraries and large computer labs) is your solution.
I kept a mini Swingline in my backpack all through college and I felt like I used it kind of often for homework, notes, and miscellaneous assignments. I definitely got my $5 worth out of it.
I can’t guarantee everything on my list here will be BIFL, but I’ll go through the last couple years of my Amazon orders and pick out purchases that were definitely game-changers for $25 or less.
Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Gel - it’s a little stamp that leaves a dollop of gel in your toilet bowl and it keeps the toilet clean for weeks. I tested it once and I think one stamp kept the toilet bowl looking clean for about 2 months.
A staple-less stapler. It won’t go through more than 4 sheets at a time (at least mine won’t) but I find that I rarely have more than 2 sheets of paper that need to be attached to each other example
Sleep mask
6ft long charging cable. I’ve been pretty happy with the Amazon Basics one, which has lasted me for 2 years now.
TubShroom
This is what you're looking for. Same brand, different model than the one already posted.
They are normally shitty gifts.
The "best" one I ever got was a shitty shirt with a giant kitten and lasers and shit Something like this but it wasn't this exactly
My actual favorite was a Red Swingline Stapler which you'll know about if you see Office Space. Swingline didn't make red staplers until this movie made them a thing.
Do you just have one of those little 2 inch long staplers? My regular-sized stapler can get almost all the way to the center of a normal sheet of paper.
I use a Max flat clinch stapler, with flat clinch staples Max Flat-Clinch Black Standard Stapler with 30 Sheet Capacity (HD-50DFBK) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006HX54U/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_V9T22SFK6FR65PEX5JTG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

If you are unable to return them, a Harinacs press or similar crimping tool might be the only way you'll be able to use them up. You won't be able to fold them for the larger Chemex sizes.
Or buy a Funnex to use them up.
I'll second the swingline stapler. Seriously a game-changer. Even the kids call it the super-stapler.
I use a Max HD-50DF Flat Clinch stapler to staple all of my flips. It staples them flat to the back without the need for extra crimping. I bought mine on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Max-Flat-Clinch-Standard-Capacity-HD-50DFBK/dp/B0006HX54U) it's not too expensive and it probably the best stapler I've EVER had.
I got this set for myself and it is pretty nice for a beginner. I really like having a good case and all that extra stuff fit in it really well.
For anyone else who thought that was a joke :

First Google result. Description is hilarious if you like bad translations.
I'm new so maybe someone will have a better suggestion, but my husband bought me this kit and I freaking love it. Super comfy.
One of my sisters used to teach high school, so for christmas that year I got her a red Swingline stapler. She said she ended up cable locking it to her desk to keep the kids from taking it.
I think every teacher should have one.
A stapler would be useful! My daughter sometimes needs one for school and I always have to find another way to keep her papers together.
It can be yours for $13.99
edit: Check out the other 3 colors!
