I haven't checked in for a few days just a few random comments here and there. I'm always in chat though, just a little plug for that genius place.
Weight scarily high for me, I'm pretty freaked out, tbh. I don't know if it's part of the process with the ear infection and subsequent medications but I'm trying to just chill out. I haven't seen this number since I was losing weight 10 years ago. I'm prepping for next week, I'm going to my parents house in California. It'll be good to see them. I normally have them come up here but we decided to pack up the dog and take a road trip. Ask me later if this was a good idea ......
I'm planning to make a few low-carbs items for Thanksgiving, for no reason other than to do them. I don't actually need to bring anything. I'll do a cauliflower gratin and the sausage cheesy stuffing that was floating around here last week.
I plan to do a 2-3 day fat fast when we return from California and I'll be using recipes/ideas from Dana Carpenders books, largely the first book. I need a reset. I'm also going to stop drinking at home, I don't need to have wine every night. I LIKE wine every night but I don't need it. Hopefully the fat fast and the wine reduction will help get things on a downward trend.
I just read a book on insulin resistance that discusses the relationship between that and PCOS. It doesn’t get into IF but the suggestions within it would be compatible with IF.
The Insulin Resistance Solution: Reverse Pre-Diabetes, Repair Your Metabolism, Shed Belly Fat, and Prevent Diabetes - with more than 75 recipes by Dana Carpender https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019WWX4UO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_QRVXAE6J0HCRB3193JNM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Nice knife, nice board, but I'm not as happy with the book from what I can read on Amazon. Some very out-dated advice there.
So talk to your doctor about this. Tell him you are making intensive dietary changes and want him/her to keep an eye on you.

You probably want to read this book too https://smile.amazon.com/Neal-Barnards-Program-Reversing-Diabetes-ebook/dp/B075DNLCGB/

It seems to be a hclf diet tailored for diabetes.
Dr. Dr. Bernstein (of the Diabetes Solution book) observed that almost 100% of his diabetic patients had psoriasis.
He didn't argue that psoriasis is caused by the sort of metabolic issues that fasting and low-carb diets tend to improve, but it does make one wonder.
This is way longer than I intended - TL;DR - Keto has not worked for me. It has worked for a lot of people. You should probably still try it.
I've been T1 for almost 10 years. I have hypothyroidism and I'm a bit heavier (25 lbs or so) than I should be, but otherwise, quite healthy. I decided to do this because I read Dr Bernstein's book. He has had type 1 for a long, long time.
I've done keto 3 times now, and each time has gone the same way. I eat lots of veggies, lots of meat, reasonable amounts of cheese and nuts. I go through "keto flu" (a short period of adjustment where you feel kinda shitty) within 3 days. I soldier on, eating a variety of low carb foods, staying under 50 carbs daily.
Then, 3-4 months in, I hit the wall. Really, it feels just like bonking/hitting the runner's wall. I get extremely tired, feeling like I'm wearing weights on my arms and legs that get heavier and heavier until I literally cannot stand up. I confirm with a fingerstick that my blood sugar is as good as my Dexcom says it is. At that point, 3 times now, my husband will bring me something carby and tell me to eat it. Within 10 minutes I feel perfectly fine again.
The first 2 times, I got back on the keto horse, and in 1-2 days, I'd be right back there, sitting on the kitchen floor too exhausted to even get myself a snack, with perfect blood sugar.
The third time, I tapered myself from 120ish carbs a day down to 50ish a day over 2 months, but again, 3-4 months after being in ketosis, I crashed out just as hard as before. At that point I gave up.
My standard diet my entire life (even before diabetes) has been around 100-150 grams of carbs a day. I don't know if my keto failures are due to hypothyroidism or something else.
This one has quickly become one of my favorites: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9RFZJ4
There aren't a TON of recipes in it, but the handful that I've tried are really good (I loved moroccan braised shortribs).
Try this book
He's an MD, and a lifelong T1 diabetic... got his MD so he could do a better job of controlling his own diabetes. I think his entire is practice is working with diabetics. He has a lot to say about controlling insulin levels while reducing carbs, and about the difference between nutritional ketosis and ketoacidosis.
The links in the other posts are exactly on point, also. Print out the "Eating Academy" post and drop it off at his office. Her doctor is marooned in the last century.
Ditto the recommendation for Dr. Bernstein's book
