Genius! Why didn’t I think of this! I bought this for my long hair German Shepherd dog - and it’s always cool to the touch and padded! Getting one for me! Hope posting a link is ok https://www.amazon.com/Hugs-Pet-Products-Pressure-Activated/dp/B007JT4P88
We had one of these for our pets in Florida and the cat was indifferent, but the dog loved it: Chillz Cooling Mat For Dogs - Pressure Activated Gel Dog Cooling Mat - No Need to Freeze Or Refrigerate This Cool Pet Pad - Keep Your Pet Cool, Use Indoors, Outdoors or in the Car https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B007JT4P88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_VDG947SPEMT303FRC0R1
I bought this one, my guy seems to love it. Looks like Amazon is currently sold out. Amazon - The Green Pet Shop
I'm betting on the wood being nice and cool. If you put one of those cool mats, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Green-Shop-Cooling-Patented-Pressure-Activated/dp/B006NONHNE he might start liking it more. Ours love those things and lay on them all the time.
We got this one from Amazon. We got the biggest size and it's perfect. It's gel and doesn't require and freezing or filling. It's also proven to be puncture proof between him biting it and the cat's claws.
Invest in a cool pad, I use it for my Leonberger in hot weather and he loves it. I actually put mine in the fridge / freezer during the cooler parts of the day and at night I take it out and he sleeps on it

Not sure if this would be helpful. Amazon sells low wattage outdoor pet safe heating pads. 4-22 watts. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AZSR68/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9SV2Db1T201DH

This is the secret sauce for me. Yes, I realize it's a kennel mat for a dog.
I also use a buckwheat hull pillow. It retains some heat, but nothing like a regular pillow.
Crisp percale sheets - anything that clings to your skin is going to be hotter. I love my sheets from Thomas Lee, and another set from Sferra Bros.
Pajamas of crisp cotton - woven, not knit. I have some that are seersucker.
Ceiling fan AND window AC in the bedroom.
I just got the heated pad from Amazon. Pet specific and put it in her existing bed under the bedding. K&H PET PRODUCTS Pet Bed Warmer... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AZSR68?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Also, idk if this is even helpful or something you may want, but I thought to share that we just picked up this cooling mat on Amazon and it actually helps a bit. We have her lay on it when we are outside in the heat. Of course it doesn’t work as well in direct sunlight but it’s been helpful in shade on these 90 degree days with no air conditioning!
We have a pressure-activated cooling mat from Amazon. This one in size XL.
The Green Pet Shop Cooling Gel Pad for Dogs
We’ve only had it a couple of months, but our Pyr seems to like it. He won’t lay on dog beds or even blankets, so this thin mat is perfect for him.
I have the chillz cooling mat and akc cooling mat. Neither are perfect but my dog loves cooling mats and enjoys both.
I got the chillz cooling mat brand new from someone for $10 so it's well worth it for me, but I think $50 is too expensive for the mat. It's filled with this foam and gel material that is a bit like putty and unfortunately doesn't flatten out if disturbed. It also doesn't feel cool to the touch unless pressure is applied to it, so it might not work for something like a chihuahua or light pet. The mat fits my 36" crate very well though and recharges without a fridge.
I think the akc mats are the cheapest and most worth it for the money on amazon. The giant mats go for ~$20 if you don't care about the pattern option that you get. They're filled with a more liquid gel material that is cold to the touch and recharges without a fridge. I am on my second one however, as they're prone to being chewed on by puppies and will leak if chewed. I ducktaped the edges of my newest mat to prevent further chewing. I think it's well worth it if you don't have a chewer.
I have this dog bed heater. It doesn't get too hot, and it will get warmer when the dog actually lies down on the bed. I love it so far.
I use a dog bed from Costco.
DIY cooling mat. Get ice packs or frozen peas between two towels! That, with fan will provide good relief. Or buy dog cooling mat!! Here’s one from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Green-Shop-Cooling-Patented-Pressure-Activated/dp/B006NONHNE
I have heard of people, not just women, buying XL/L dog cooling pads for this reason. That was just what I found with a google search, it might be worth that kind of money just to try it. If it doesn't work you could donate it to the local shelter or vet.
I'd guess they'd go under the bottom sheet. I've never used one but I've thought about it. I've always been a hot sleeper even long before menopause.
If it’s available at your local stores, check for cool mats for animals (doesn’t really matter if they’re for dogs or not. I have one for my cat and she loves it. Its cools her down when she wants to. And when your pets don’t use it, you can always use it to put your feet on😂. You’ll feel the heat becomes less in your feet.
Lmao, oh! I got this kind & size, but from Walmart so it was only $30. Read some reviews that said the blue color rubbed off on stuff, so I got the pillowcase just in case (plus it's easier to clean that way and looks nicer.) I've never noticed any blue stains though.
We got a cooling mat for our Bernese and it seems to work really well for her. Within 2 days she had understood that this spot is cooler than the rest of the house. I tried it myself, and it lasted a while. The label states it should last 3 hours but I have not tested that long. Our girl seems to love it though.
We got this one: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0192CJP0W/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0192CJM6Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have this one. It's been going strong after 6 months and looks brand new. Mine likes to dig on his mats so they don't tend to last this long. It has a companion mat cover that's well worth it and helps protect it.
The cooling mat is the only way mine uses his dog bed. Otherwise he'd sleep on the tile the entire time (which honestly, he still does).
Haven't tried it but I looked into cooling mats in case I would end up needing one. The one I found being mentioned the most was the Green Pet Shop Dog Cooling Mat.

Moved to central TX a few years back with our saint. AC is on constant in the summer. Aside from that, he has a dog pool out back and a cooling mat in his dog crate. Similar to this https://www.amazon.com/Green-Shop-Cooling-Patented-Pressure-Activated/dp/B006NOO440?th=1
I also found some cooling blankets, something like this?
I've never used one but my coworker recently got one for their dog and suggested it to me.
We tried so many beds and she’s frankly too big for any of them, even the super pricey orthopedic XL ones. Would lay on them once or twice then abandon them.
Big fan of a gel chill pad like this that we put in the freezer - but otherwise, the cool tile floor is her favorite in all seasons.

A friend’s dog loves this! The Green Pet Shop Dog Cooling Mat - Pressure-Activated Gel Cooling Mat For Dogs - This Pet Cooling Mat Keeps Dogs and Cats Comfortable All Summer - Avoid Overheating, Ideal for Home and Travel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006NOO440/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_A9386P32TAXNH08P07GB
I was sketchy about it at first. But i laid on it myself to see if it worked and it did. I bought it cuz utah summers are HOT. The cooling doesn't last forever but does last for a bit, can't remember how long exactly, maybe less than an hour. It's basically your normal gel cooling pads, so i would flip or turn the pad so he was laying on different parts if he got huffy. It does "reset" after a while. My advice though- indoor use only. It gets a bit like a hot pad if left in the sun for a long time. Won't be able to get them to lay on it for it to start cooling down.

If you wanted to look at the one i got for reference.
I'm sorry he's not feeling well, I hope he's better soon!
And he may need a heating pad for Christmas. We have two, made by K&H, our cats love them. The one on their window perch is their favorite.
