It’s called a ssscat. I have one. Use it. Love it. It gets bonus points for occasionally scaring my wife even more than the cat.
Link please! Last time I looked for a product like this they all looked terrible. Edit: nvm looks like I just didn't want to spend $300 for two feeders. This looks pretty great though: SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O0UIPTY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dDz8BbBFAGS50
get some enzymatic pet stain remover. Its designed for the job. https://www.amazon.com/Rocco-Roxie-Supply-Co-Professional/dp/B00CKFL93K
Ssscat. Although the replacement canisters are kind of expensive, I recently found out that the top is fairly universal and apparently you can just use compressed air from Staples or something. We have gotten to the point that we don't even need it on our counters anymore, and mostly use it if we want to keep the kitties out of a room temporarily, we just set it outside, and they stay away without scratching at the door. We usually don't even turn it on anymore.
Stacking might work. My boys can jump 24" but you'd have time to grab them before they jump down to the other side.
The 28" panels might be enough to keep them in if 24" doesn't do the trick!
Thank you so much! It’s actually a super lightweight x pen made out of plastic and metal that is joined together by little pieces. You can make them whatever shape you want, it’s very versatile! It comes with 12 panels total, you can make a rectangle or a square pen. Super cool.

Just thought I'd share, cat parent to cat parent: There are these awesome food bowls that only open to the cat with the correct, programmed microchip. Expensive but totally worth it. I had three cats: one was a piggy and would eat the others food, one had some health issues that required her to eat only special food, and one that would get bullied. This prevented the pig from eating the others food and finally losing weight, prevented the sick one from eating food other than her own and the bullied one actually got to eat. And I didn't have to supervise anymore. Also!! I recently got an automatic self cleaning cat box and holy shit, what a game changer.

This is the Tespo Dog PlayPen (Amazon). I used zipties to put it together, so it folds up flat. It was kind of pricey (I think around $45-50 when I got it off Amazon, free shipping), but it's really convenient and they can only escape by going over the top -- as you can see, lol.
I haven't personally tried bad dragon lube, but I've heard nothing but bad reviews on it, mostly that's its "sticky" and not "lubey" lol.
If you have a farm store of some type nearby, I recommend poly lube...its a veterinary grade lubricant that comes as a powder that you mix with water. For $20 you can have 5 gallons worth of lube! (Or, y'know a years worth of lube bc don't mix it all at once). it's water-based so safe to use with silicone toys. It's all I use now.
Edit: this stuff. Available on Amazon here. But honestly it was much cheaper instore so might be worth shopping around before buying online. I got it from UFA (Alberta Canada, lol), but any farm or veterinary store should carry it. It's also called j-lube.
Check out this thing I used from Amazon! I have a climbing, chatty tortie who LOVED placing her ass directly on my dish towels/dishes and this fixed it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0721735K9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xB3WDbTCKET80
Hilarious! Here's the product: https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-Deterrent-Activated-Repellent-Environmentally/dp/B0721735K9
Clean every touchable surface with an enzyme cleaner.
Seal up the house and run a professional grade ozonator, you’ll probably want to place it wherever the smell is the worst.
Take him outside and brush him a few times a week, then give him a bath every once in awhile and brush him again

Original product is titled: J-Lube
Original product located at: Amazon J-lube
Manufacturer/Seller: Unkown/Amazon + J-lube.net (And most animal supply stores)
Last Seen: September 9, 2017
Pricing: $16.95 - $18.95 USD
FUN FACT: Mixed portions of J-lube should only be kept 3 weeks maximum, before a new batch is prepared.
TIPS: Having worked as a veterinarian, here are some tips for mixing:
Start off with cold water, as that mixes best with the powder
Sift the powder before putting it into the water; this helps avoid clumps.
Microwave the mix after adding the powder to the water, then mix some more.\
After that, add water as needed while continually microwaving (the microwaving helps remove clumps a lot!) until you reach the desired consistency.

I’ve purchased these little things that sense motion and spray air to keep mine from jumping on a table where he was constantly knocking down a lamp! He jumped up maybe twice, was sprayed with air, and has never jumped up on the table again since! link
I got mine this one for Christmas, and another got this puzzle. We just started so we will see how well this works, but it was an idea from my dog trainer.
I believe Air Wick makes them you can buy them almost anywhere. Drug stores, grocery stores, Wal-mart, Target, etc.
EDIT: There is an actual item made for the sole purpose of repelling pets. It's called a Ssscat
Tespo Pet Playpen, Portable Large Plastic Yard Fence Small Animals, Puppy Kennel Crate Fence Tent, 12 Panels, 28 X 20 inches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XTG94TH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_XJP91M3Q6MYKZD4PMNB1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
They snap together with clips. We start out with them set up on the longer sides, then make it taller by flipping the panels to the short end when they’re more active.
I have one that’s the same or really similar! I got it off Amazon, it’s a puppy play pen, or panel puppy play pen, that’s how I found mine!

This is the one I have for my boys
Sorry to hear about your dog, so hard to lose a pet. As for keeping my place clean, I swiffer and sweep once a week (more if needed) and use a stick vac on area rugs. For furniture and my duvet covers I use this thing to keep everything clear of cat hair. I’ve never not had a cat during my life and I’ve never found anything (including vacuums, rollers etc.) that works as well as this thing does in picking up pet hair. Even works on clothes.
Sorry for the late response about the walls! I got them on amazon and so far, the buns have not tried to chew them at all. Here’s the link it’s around 20ish square feet of space and very high for anyone wanting to use them for a fully enclosed space.
/u/8armstohugyouwith describes it well. I bought mine on amazon, you can also make your own for cheaper.
Do you have the budget for a microchip feeder like this: https://www.amazon.com/SureFlap-MPF001-Surefeed-Microchip-Feeder/dp/B00O0UIPTY
I follow a lot of cat accounts on Instagram and many use that type of feeder when they have to feed multiple cats or have cats that require special food.
Have you tried a flirt pole? It’s kind of like a giant cat toy and you can move it around to mimic small animal movement. My dogs love it and get super engaged. Then I used the e collar to get a solid “out” command to get them to disengage while in motion, and also to drop it when they catch it. Might be worth a try!
Get a microchip feeder. We have this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O0UIPTY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_GJ2eFbNXHHF60 Our skinny kitty is now 10lbs (spot on for his build), and our chonker is officially dechonked (down to 8lbs, right for her build). This one is great because it also has an intruder mode where it will shut if the chonker tries to get the food while the other cat is eating or pushes the other cat out of the way. I know it's expensive up front, but it you take the time to get the skinny kitty comfortable with the noise and movement it makes (ours was skittish for a bit), it is the best investment.
Hahaha this reminded me of this old thing my mom used to have for our cats. It’s motion activated canned air and it is the funniest thing I have ever seen. You just stick it on your counter facing the part where your cats would jump up and then when they do, it’ll just spray a quick, loud burst of air that sounds like a hiss. Your cats will indubitably flip their shit and get off the counter.
Oh man, thanks for the memories. Here it is on Amazon.
Cardboard playpen walls can work. If your rats chew on them, try covering the edges with duct tape. You can also purchase modular playpens on Amazon (Tespo playpen). Because rats can climb and jump, barrier walls need to be smooth and fairly tall. My boys can easily jump 2 foot walls so for solid opaque walls, I start at about 28" (70 cm). I make my barriers out of clear acrylic and I've found they can be a little shorter because rats can't see the tops so they don't even try to jump.
I use Rocco & Roxy stain and odor eliminator. It’s mostly for pet urine but it works really well for any organic stuff like vomit.
Rocco & Roxie Professional Strength Stain & Odor Eliminator - Enzyme-Powered Pet Odor & Stain Remover for Dog and Cats Urine - Carpet Cleaner Spray - Enzymatic Cat Pee Destroyer - for Small Animals https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CKFL93K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_7DVBF8YS5BAHGJVTM0MN
We bought a tail teaser for mine. It is a lot of fun and she uses up quite a bit of energy within 10 mins. She absolutely loves it and could play that forever. It also helped a lot with her leave it training. If she does not leave it in the first go, I just take it away. So she started to leave it on the first go so she could continue playing. This is the one I bought Outward Hound Tail Teaser Durable Dog Wand With Soft Plush Toys https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0042I5G2I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_mL7PBfMAqqDGW
Edit: mine is not very treats motivated. She only wants to play. So it has been really tough and this has been great.
Sounds like she's bored and understimulated. Shibas are a nippy breed who needs something to do.
FORTUNATELY, entertaining a shiba is easy: Passive entertainment often isn't enough though. Shibas are bred to hunt, and if you don't give them a way to channel that drive they will hunt you and drive you bonkers.
Solution: Flirt pole. 15 minutes is enough once or twice a day.
