I bought these small, collapsable water bowls for a few bucks on Amazon that can fit in a pocket or clip to a backpack. Work great.
Just get this

It's not sexy but this travel bowl is what I like. You can buy the "slow feeder" type of you want extra nubs. Normally I leave the lowest level collapsed so that I have that extra ridge.
Yeah completely malleable. I just take chunks off and use em in my bowl as needed. Their samples are much bigger than most artisans, total steal for the $3-4 they go for.
They also have a bowl I’ve heard good things about which has a clone version available on Amazon-

These bowls were actually originally made for dogs, Stirling just saw how perfect they were and repurposed them.
I had another problem. My kitten pecking feed like a bird. I think she was in pain. So I bought her rubber bowl, like this one — https://www.amazon.com/Kurgo-Portable-NoSpill-Accessories-Coastal/dp/B06XWJGT88?th=1
Why don't you trust her though? Do you use baby gates at home or is it just the water bowl thing? How long are you leaving for?
For the water bowl: Look for car water bowls and you should find something like this: Prestige Non-Spill Bowl
It almost impossible to knock over (unless the dog is really, really trying) and there's a floating inner to it that drops as the water level goes down, so there's always some drinking water at the top but not the whole bowl.
We use it in our kitchen because we were always booting the other one around the floor by accident.
Highly recommend a water bowl like this one, our little pub would get water all over the kitchen the second we went out the room. They press down with there nose to get more water so there's only a small amount of water on the surface at any one tkme

I used to keep my cat's water bowl in the bath tub because he loved to play in the water and tip it over. Once I got water fountains this behavior stopped. I also got a travel bowl with velcro on the bottom and place those on a rug (that's secured by table legs) and my little guy was unable to get that flipped, though your girl might be more determined, ha! Here's the link to that bowl: https://www.amazon.com/Road-Refresher-Slobber-Eliminates-Messiest/dp/B07NQ3W7CF/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2B5IRX4ZG1EKI&keywords=travel%2Bbowl%2Bno%2Bspill&qid=1646577509&s=pet-supplies&sprefix=travel%2Bbowl%2Bno%2Bspill%2Cpets%2C231&sr=...
Most importantly
"What do I do about food and water" Food: Bulk! Get yourself a good sealing plastic container, most can hold about 50lbs dog food. If you can't get that I used to keep 3 bags on the truck at a time when over the road. I only do 1 bag now that I'm home weekly.
Food bowl: Get a good steel bowl, easier to clean. Buy some sticky Velcro you can attach to floor and bowl so it will stay in place if you find yourself moving and the dog(s) aren't finished eating. It'll also help prevent them stepping on it and launching food all up the front of the truck
Water: I usually buy 2 1 gallon jugs of drinking water and carry it on the truck. I've found this is the best way to avoid stomach upset. Some tap water from truck stops can set off the pups with sensitive stomachs. When I did OTR I would carry one of the big 5 gallon jugs I'd refill about once every month at a Walmart. You could also just use cases of water but that's a lot of plastic, space, and effort.
Water bowl: I use Prestige Pets Road Refresher https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NQ3W7CF/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_EKVYJBZGVM2EBPNAYYWH Cuts down majorly on him taking water all over the truck and I can keep fresh water down for him while driving. You will need to clean this about once or twice a week as plastic based bowls get slimy real fast.
No idea if this would help but maybe you could try a travel water bowl? I have one that has a perforated layer that floats on top of the water and thereby limits how much water is out and how quickly the dog can drink. Have you tried this style?
Heininger PortablePET 3059 Waterboy Travel Water Bowl for Pets (Clear), Single
I have the small plastic ones along with this one. My smaller dog and cats love the square ones, but the bigger dog with the longer nose needs the depth of the larger plastic bowl. (She'd probably do great with the slopper stopper too, but $20 was cheaper than $55.)
I'd get him some dog bowls designed for camping, the kind that you can kind of fold up. Here's what I'm talking about.
We do a lot of long road trips with our dogs, one is small, reactive and older with kidney disease so she needs to drink lots of water and pee frequently, and the other is a big gsd mix and very athletic/energetic. My top tips:
-plan to take regular, solid breaks. We try to find either a dog park or a place to go for at least a short hike every day on our journey, often more than one. Bringfido.com has some good ideas and reviews. I'll also just search for dog parks on Google maps and plan our route around hopping between them.
-keep a stash of toys/treats at the ready, things you can switch out to keep the pup entertained
-stay on their regular food schedule as much as possible. We have plastic bins we keep their food in ready to go, and jugs of water. The back of the 4runner is also perfect for a no spill dog bowl so they can have access to water whenever! We have this one and its awesome, both dogs definitely love it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWJGT88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_4OlcGbM1GVYPW
My dog has a tendancy to chomp at a water bowl which spreads water everywhere. We got him one of these bowls which is meant to be a non spill bowl in a vehicle. It has a floating plate in it which he has to push down with his tongue to get water, which he then has to lap. Completely elimimated the water chomping (but if a normal water bowl is available he will revert back to his chompy messy ways).
I thought he'd need some time to get used to it but he figured it out right away. You just have to be slightly more aware of how much water is left as you can't see easily at a glance.
THIS!!! 3$!!

ITS ALL I USE NOW. Tons of surface space, agitators, 3$. Its literally my favorite lather bowl I own and nearly free. It is the same as the Stirling bowl, but you can get two size options, AND its much cheaper.
Thirding this: I've worn their "Trail runner" waist leash with my dog wearing their Front Range harness for going on 4,000 miles now, and it's been fantastic.

I don't typically carry water (I run near a ton of rivers and lakes, with a dog who thinks she's a fish), but the poop bags, treats, and keys fit easily in the zipper pocket.
When we do have to carry water, this waterproof fabric dog bowl fits in the elastic side:

I personally run shirtless too often to want to rely on a vest.
Will keep you in mind. It only improves and it’s a much more fun way to shave. Bowl material doesn’t matter, although one with ridges in the bottom helps a lot. I use a plastic bowl from amazon that Stirling also carries. It works great

My GSD mix is the same way, I found this Road Refresher bowl to be great in reducing the mess. It doesn't totally solve the issue, but it certainly helps. I had an unused oil pan tray so I placed that under the bowl to help contain any water drips/puddles. I was tempted to buy this big water trough-type thing, but my dog would just try to "swim" in it lol, but it might work for you.
I also agree with others that keeping plenty of fresh water available throughout the day will help as well. I think part of my dog's water gulping stems from his early life as a stray puppy, where water was a limited resource.
Good luck!
Hey! I had one of those. I really liked it but I kept running out of water and I’d refill it with my water bottle anyway. I ended up just buying one of these collapsable bowls:
Outward Hound, Lightweight Dog Backpacks, Carriers & Pet Travel Products https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0081XICJO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lS9IFbX3NPF2Y
And now I carry one huge water bottle for the both of us.
Welcome to the Greyt Lakes!
I've just accepted that they get messy and prepared the area with the bowls for this. However, I did get one of these Kurgo bowls and it seems to work pretty well. It's on the small side so I use it more for when I go places where I don't want them splashing water around.
I've seen other similarly designed bowls so I suspect any bowl with that inward lip will help.
Thanks brother, much appreciated.
And it is actually this bowl - URWOOW Collapsible Foldable Slow Feeder Pet Dog Cat Puppy Silicone Travel Pet Slow Feeding Bowl Dog Water Dish Cat Port https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TC7S79Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7OrqFb77WSQD8
Stirling sells a similar one and this is the knock of variant. It’s different from the sea to summit ones because of the grooves inside which make lathering extremely easy. Highly recommend
It's a collapsible shaving bowl to whip up lather in. The sell them on the Stirling website but I bought it on Amazon in a 2 pack. It's supposed to be a slow feed bowl for dogs, but works great for shopping up a thick creamy lather.
Here's the link
I have one of these. PortablePet Waterboy. I bought it for it's design for spills, particular for car travel, and to keep our puppy's chin more dry. We also use it for around the house since it's easily transferred to another room, and can hold a good amount of water.
I haven't tested it myself, but reviewers mention that you can flip it upside down and it won't spill. Knowing the design of it, I can see that it won't empty out upside down, but I would expect a little bit of water to come out in the process of flipping.
Wouldn't it be great if someone would invent a collapsible bowl, handy enough to stash in your back pocket, costs less than that morning latte, and is still going strong after five years of daily use?
