I used to have one of these. They're the best drum set in a box that I've seen, and they don't take up too much room. The pedals leave something to be desired, but you can actually upgrade them with real kick triggers if you want. I've seen used ones go for fifty bucks.
There's a couple options here if I'm understanding correctly...
If you wanted to incorporate a more 'acoustic' feeling kick into your current setup you'd have to get something like this: Amazon.com: Alesis V2 Kick Pad PACK - DMPad Kick Drum & DMPedal Single Kick Pedal -Nitro: Musical Instruments You'll just need to check compatibility. I'm not super familiar with Alesis product lines and which parts work with which kit.
The other option for practice purposes is to purchase a single (or double) pedal of your preferred brand (DW, Pearl & TAMA all make great pedals depending on your budget) and then purchase a practice pad similar to this: Amazon.com: RealFeel by Evans Folding Bass Pedal Practice Pad: Musical Instruments
Hopefully this helps.
I know this doesn't really answer your question, but the bag he's using is pretty common for drummers to carry their cymbals in (example here).
