She eats the fancy stuff: https://www.amazon.com/Primal-Pet-Foods-Freeze-Dried-Formula/dp/B00B1H3ZYE
I tried it while I was experimenting with foods when I first got her, and now the little shit refuses any other wet food. Amazon is a little pricier, I can usually find it for $25 or so. But each bag last for about 2-3 weeks, plus I feed her a little bit of kibble on top of that.
That's actually a good amount! Depends on the food but our puppy does 1 1/4 cups 3 times a day on Taste of the Wild but that's based on his weight though.
I've suggested it before, but wetting the food a bit and using Stella and Chewy's Magical Dinner Dust works wonders! It's pricey if used often but it works. Bacon flavor appears to be the best one they have. I go through the same with my 4 month puppy, he's picky!

Thank you. What about something like this?
Direct sun is good, as long as there’s places to hide from it. RES like to sunbath. About their dock you need a basking light and a UVB bulb, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Aquatic-Turtle-Lighting/dp/B00CYDEARU
I just get most stuff from Amazon, but compare prices with local sources. You could get a dock like this: https://www.amazon.com/Large-Floating-Turtle-Dock-Attached/dp/B09471715T
Cat toothpaste like Virbac C.E.T. Enzymatic Toothpaste, Tartar Control, Seafood Flavor, 2.5 oz https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004ULYYU2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_D8HY8YWW40DRRE9FQQA0 I get ours from the vet, lasts long time.
Shoot this one is actually 35 now. I think it was more like 30 when I got it. But anyways I got it more than a year ago and it works great! (I use one uvb10.0 bulb and a full spectrum heat lamp bulb. It's like 10 bucks for both on amazon and I replace them once every 6 month) also you can only use one bulb you don't need both. https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Aquatic-Turtle-Lighting/dp/B00CYDEARU
It is worth a shot! We thought the same but I do have to say that it worked wonders. It wasn't as magical as it promises to be though, he does not eat if I only sprinkle a little but again, that little dust sure adds up! I mean, try it and if it doesn't work, you're in the hole 25$, nothing too crazy.
Stella & Chewy's Marie's Magical Dinner Dust What's Shak'n Bak'n Dog Food Topper, 7 oz. bag, Bacon (MMDDSB-7) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0877F66FP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_D2GR2C9TZ9CYZ3JQJQ5C
There's the link, I have him on beef recipe but reviews say the bacon one is the best, I would start there! Good luck!
I recommend the Zoo Med Dual fixture.

I do plan to make raw eventually, thing is my kitten got very sick when i first got her, and I'm still kind of recovering from the financial strain, so it'll be a few months.
Damn I thought $30 for a small bag was kind of premium?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B1H3ZYE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Btw so is the bag I linked actual raw food? Cause I imagine it's not going to come to me frozen, like I find in freezers at cat stores? So how will that work out?
Here's a good one I've used: https://www.amazon.com/Primal-Pet-Foods-Freeze-Dried-Chicken/dp/B0082C00P8/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1497766332&sr=8-14&keywords=freeze+dried+dog+treats
Edit: you can get it cheaper too. My friend buys a different brand in bulk on eBay.
Map turtles usually don't get as big as red eared sliders that you usually find in pet stores, but they do need large tanks. If he's already almost 3 inches long, I'd suggest getting a 40 gallon breeder tank. You will need a good filter, basking platform, good turtle food enriched with vitamins (I use ZooMed brand), a heater, and the correct lighting.
You are smart to wait until you have a tank set up before bringing him home, but just realize that this is a very long term commitment and the initial set-up will cost a lot more than you think!!
Turtles need both UVB and UVA light to grow healthy. The UVA will be a heat source for the turtle while the UVB will give the turtle much needed vitamins, just as if he were out in the sun. Don't trust any bulb that claims it gives off both UVA and UVB, you need two separate bulbs. I use this with my tank: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CYDEARU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Let me know if you have any other questions :)
Edit: Oh, and I wouldn't worry about the UV bulbs being bad for your skin. The rays can't penetrate through glass, so you should be fine if you're looking through the glass. Any short amount of time you do come in contact with it, I doubt it will affect you at all. You definitely won't get a sunburn from a few minutes xD
I suggest throwing away the (real) plants you have in the tank, scrubbing her shell with an old toothbrush and dish soap, and cleaning the entire tank. The water is really dirty from what I see in the picture. It isn't that complicated, just scoop out the water and rinse the gravel in the sink. Also, it might help if you got a bigger basking spot too. Definitely make sure that your turtle is getting both heat and UVB. This is what I have: http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Aquatic-Turtle-Lighting/dp/B00CYDEARU?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
My Boston survived parvo as a pup and has had tummy issues ever since. We feed her Primal. She does really well on it. This was a good resource when we were looking for better food for her.
He loves eating freeze dried sardines.
This is normally fed as regular food for some dogs, but I find the nuggets do well for training Huey.
