So as im sure others have pointed out, if you want clean HDMI, you need to have the original DOL-001 version of the gamecube. The original model had a digital out, as shown in this pic.
When you convert the original analog signal (the yellow, white, red cables) it looks like garbage converting it into HDMI and it'll have input lag. There's no way to get around that, really. If you do have the model of gamecube with digital out, you're in luck! The digital signal can easily be converted to hdmi with certain accessories. For example, I use the Retro-bit Prism. The link I posted is its amazon page. It's on sale for ~$75 right now. I bought mine a few weeks ago and it looks fantastic. It has the console output to 480p for any game that supports it, and upscales it to 1080p for your TV. No noticeable input lag, and the games will look so clear that you'll start to notice just how low quality the textures/antialiasing on the gamecube were when not masked by blurry CRTs. There are other HDMI adapters like this one, this is just the only one I've used, and it's one of the cheaper options.
I have no idea what started this argument, but the Gamecube was indigo. It's a color between blue and purple. It's the "I" in Roy G Biv. It's literally the official color classification. I don't even understand how this is a discussion.
I have the Prism HDMI adapter with an mClassic. The Prism adapter does improve the quality a bit but the mClassic really makes it look incredible, if you have a PC monitor it works flawlessly upscaled from 480p to 1440p and works for a TV as long as it has Enhanced DVI mode capability.

Proper upscaling is the key to making it look good on a modern display. You could get a Carby or Prism for decent results with GBI, assuming the console is a DOL-001. If you can't find a DOL-001, you could use S-Video with a RetroTINK-2X and it would look fine. If that's out of your budget, I would say just stick with a CRT (still use GBI, though).

Pick whichever one you like, they're effectively the same.
Lots of options for the N64, I personally use HD RetroVision cables to a RetroTink2x. For the GameCube, you want to make sure you have a model with the digital AV port on the back and then get something like this. https://www.amazon.com/Retro-Bit-Prism-HDMI-Adapter-GameCube-Converter/dp/B08WBQL4VM/
The type of tv doesn’t matter, get something like this.
Yes, you can. That’s how I run mine. You can use one of these from Amazon for your hdmi setup. :)
Its just a module that adapts the digital out port to an hdmi port, it works just as well as any other direct hdmi solution.

If you don't have a DOL-001, the model with two AV outputs (one analogue, one digital), you'll have to look into getting an S-video cable plus a decent scaler like the RetroTINK. Unfortunately that way you end up paying a good chunk more and still without getting the best image quality.
Why are you using a RCA cable in 2022. You should be using something like this if you wanna connect your gamecube to a modern TV
The Gamecube Adapter lets you play at 480p instead of 480i on NTSC consoles, but with Swiss it can force PAL games to work at 480p as well which is what I use. You need a Gamecube model DOL-001 though.
The Hyperkin Adapter just provides a better image at 480p for HDMI only. Instead of using a cheap Wii2HDMI or AV2HDMI adapter, I have both those and they're terrible in my experience.
Check it out here: Retro-Bit Prism HDMI Adapter for GameCube - AV to HDMI Converter/Upscaler for 1080P Support https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WBQL4VM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_TPJNGX3YN55HF8WKJA82?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It effectively allows you to use HDMI and it upscales the image resulting in a higher fidelity image.
Cheapest, literally any rca to HDMI adapter. It will be a roll of the dice how well they work (input lag can vary between units of the same model). Cheapest good and simple solution, Prism, assuming you have a compatible system.
That's a very wide range of console generations, so currently there's no single converter that will be ideal for all of them. The RetroTINK-5X comes closest for the time being. The Pixel FX Morph is expected to come out sometime this year and should be even better if you don't mind waiting for it. Another option is a cheaper RetroTINK-2X for the SD consoles and a generic component-to-HDMI converter for the ED/HD consoles. If your GameCube is a DOL-001 model, you could get a Carby or Prism to losslessly convert its digital AV output directly to HDMI. There are also HDMI mods for some of the other consoles if you don't mind spending the money.
Playing pre-HDMI consoles on modern TVs can be a deep, expensive rabbit hole, especially if you care at all about latency (i.e. "input lag"). Knowing what your budget is will help us give you advice.
Actually this is the new king, since you can easily update the firmware yourself.

They restock reasonably often, but if you want something now the Retro-Bit Prism seems pretty good as well. I like that it has a USB port for updates.

And the item description page (if you go to purchase the item where it gives you the opt in to trade one in) specifically says - no controller.
Even then it's still not accurate. Because of the fact that the 1 and 5-star reviews can outweigh the 2 to 4-star reviews. I may be cherry picking, but take this example of Gamecube. 72% of all reviews are 1 or 5-star, with the majority of them being 5-star. This leaves 27% of reviews in the 2 to 4-star range, which doesn't paint an accurate picture of a product.
I'm not saying it has to be an equal distribution of reviews, but when in most cases much of the reviews are 1 and 5-star reviews, it's hard to get an accurate read on whether or not it is a worthwhile product.
Hey look Nintendo must still be making Gamecubes! There's some on Amazon after all... http://www.amazon.com/Gamecube-Console-Platinum/dp/B00006IJJI
Just because it is available does not mean it is still in production. I bought one of these for about $16 after they first came out. Right now the only way to get one is to pay an inflated price and buy through a third-party seller on Amazon, eBay, etc. Good luck finding one in a store.
Sorry, is this PAL?
oh edit: "Includes one controller, power cable, AV cable, and SCART adapter for AV cable" So that cable would work, huh?
Hey, you're awesome. Thanks for all your help.
