I had trouble with the jiffy peet pellets when I first started last year. I switched to Rapid Rooter blocks and had fantastic success. I pop them into these little greenhouse things, and they’re awesome..
Those rapid rooter cubes work amazing with clone-X rooting gel if you do want to take clones too.
I’d also recommend going from the 1gal pot, straight to the 5gal pot. Going to the 3gal in between won’t really help you, and give another chance to shock or stress your girls.
To not answer your question, have you considered organic super soil? If you get the right soil, all you have to do is give water and microbes. It's WAY easier than all the stuff needed to properly grow hydro. Happy to get into it more if you're curious...
My garden. All I give them is water and Recharge.
I really hope everyone who just commented about root rot reads this because it saved my first harvest so hard. please for the love of god try this when you get root rot Guess what homies. I made a fucking terrible mistake and put two plants per bucket in hydro system while not knowing their genders. But while the males died and left roots, hydro guard made it into available nutrients for my plant. I can’t say for certain it will help you. But it certainly saved my plant. Imagine a whole other root system rotting!!!! Hydro guard took care of it and my other plant.
Just grow them, they'll be fine. Or they won't. Only one way to find out.
I personally prefer these for germinating.
Hey I’m on using fox farm trio, and cal mag as well. I highley suggest this nutrient from Amazon alongside Ff trio and cal mag, I had great results on my outdoor grow last year. Just make sure you use half of the recommended dosage at first and slowly work your way up. One container costs $20 and will last years...https://www.amazon.com/Flower-Fuel-1-34-32-250g-Harvests/dp/B01L32CE20/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=flower+booster&qid=1610659893&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A2VGZS25S15RWI&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFOUlhYNEZFNkFM...
That yellowing is because she is hungry. Go spend $36 on Amazon and order a nutrient kit. Use half the recommended label amount and she'll grow big. Fox Farm Liquid Nutrient Trio Soil Formula https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00572026S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_PgGIzbS5S8E0V
Growing in a 1/2 gallon amber mason jar. Was doing well, then stopped growing and the leaves started turning yellow and new leaves are showing tip burn.
Nutrients are MaxiGro mixed at the lowest recommended ratio (1tsp/gallon) with pH between 5.5-6.0. When the water gets low, I do a full flush with a clean jar. The water that came out of the last flush was cloudy and had pH 7.0.
The roots look a little dingy, but otherwise healthy, if a little small.
I've already lost a couple of the outermost leaves, which went completely yellow and limp. Sitting maybe 4" under 2x 20w Barina grow lights.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Can I suggest, Southern AG Garden, Biological Fungicide.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VXQG23O/
It’s over twice as concentrated as Hydroguard and costs significantly less. I put this in my 5 gallon bucket and have happy healthy roots.
I don’t recommend mixing H2O2 with any “good bacteria” because it will kill it off. That extra oxygen molecule can’t make that determination. If anything you can run some H2O2 a few days prior to adding good bacteria if you’re looking for a quick sanitization.
I’m still fairly young in the hydro world, but passing along info that I’ve gathered!
Im shure there is one. I was suprised to find one in my area. But id go ahead and order fox farm nutrients. And for now just ho get cheap gardening nutrients at ur local supermarket.
https://www.amazon.com/Fox-Farm-FX14049-Nutrient-Formula/dp/B00572026S get those
I do two tsp of MaxiGro in a gallon jug and just put it in the bottom cup every other morning. I worry about root rot so I give them a day to breath in between. That's really it!
I mean they certainly don’t look unhealthy! And no problem, answering these questions gives me purpose xD.
PS I just remembered that rooting hormone exists. I haven’t tried it myself but you could try buying some of that. Here’s a link on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Garden-Safe-Rooting-Hormone-93194/dp/B00AA8WPGY
Rooting hormone has really made a difference in all my props! It may be worth a try.

So far I think things have been going smoothly. Temps are on the low end, 71 during the day and 64ish at night. RH is on the high side of 49 - 60. Water day is always high. Soil is Fox Farms Ocean Forest and Perlite.
I've been using these nutes at about half to a quarter the recommended amount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L32CE20/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_7XXW2JSDVSEDBJZK3JA0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Can I up the dose? Been using it every watering, which is about every other day, and about a gallon of water per plant.
Any and all advice is welcome.

I use this - it works pretty well and it isn't super expensive! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AA8WPGY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I highly recommend this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VXQG23O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_ECRUFbKRWN6TN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 It is very similar to hydro guard but it's a much high concentration. It's a beneficial bacteria that will eat anything else in the res and clean up your root
What are nutrients? They are food for plants. Just like the foods we eat have certain nutrients.
If you're asking what type of nutes I'm using https://www.amazon.com/Fox-Farm-FX14049-Nutrient-Formula/dp/B00572026S
And if this is a Monty Python pun then also touche.
The leaves are turning black because you have leaf blight, you should remove any affected plants and treat the remainder with a biological fungicide. For container grown plants I recommend using a hydroponic fertilizer because they're complete.
biological fungicide:https://www.amazon.com/Southern-Ag-Friendly-Biological-Fungicide/dp/B00VXQG23O/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2GSQQBSRGCLB9&dchild=1&keywords=biological+fungicide&qid=1604110599&sprefix=biolocical+fungi%2Caps%2C192&sr=8-3 Fertilizer:https://www.amazon.com/Dyna-Gro-GRO-032-Liquid-Plant-32-Ounce/dp/B0054YQ1WI/ref=sr_1_2?crid=28GISVIR095XY&dchild=1&keywords=dyna+grow+7-9-5&qid=1604110953&sprefix=dyna+grow%2Caps%2C206&sr=8-2
No problemo, there’s plenty of info online from different studies involving how they can benefit your plants; I got mine from amazon
Not too sure yet,i was thinking of getting this stuff? https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00GZRKI40?pf_rd_p=46535598-d2e0-4bc4-8392-182d8c1e93fc&pf_rd_r=XJGKD3YKE5GMFD90T0MF then i read that I could add epsom salt to the water (1tbsp per 5 liters) and that would help with magnesium. Still not sure what to use for calcium. Or if i should just purchase calmag on amazon
I've had good luck with this as both a soil drench and spray for fungus control https://www.amazon.com/Southern-Ag-Friendly-Biological-Fungicide/dp/B00VXQG23O/ref=sr_1_3?crid=MIC2ZNCFBZQ2&dchild=1&keywords=biological+fungicide&qid=1600291900&sprefix=biological+fun%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-3
All I know is that during flowering, which is where your at, the plants need a lot of phosphorus and potassium. Its not easy to over feed either one.
I have used Flower Fuel with amazing results. I also suggest that you use Epsom Salt every time you water.
i only use MaxiGro and my plants seem to like it. i don’t do the PH balance either. i just got a gallon of water, put the little scoop in, mix it and when i’m ready to use, i use half water and half vitamin mix. maybe down the road i’ll dabble into 3 step solution, for now, this seems to be doing the job.
I was after something like what your looking forthis helped me get the strong flavors and scents.....June I harvested 2 sunset sherbet plants...they smell was VERY strong of tropical fruits and the flavor was equally as pleasant with a hint of orange...prior to using flower fuel i didnt have results like this...i also used alot of epsom salt..which is pure magnesium and sulfur....both which are very important in photosynthesis and NPK uptake...i also double dosed the flower fuel every watering....right now i have a trainwreck going in day 23 of flower and is STACKED with bud sites...and i honestly believe the high PK and the extra mag and sulfur during flower contribute to it.
I'm having amazing results with Flower Fuel
Posted this today of my trainwreck at day 21 from 12/12
Flower Fuel...and epsom salt...the epsom salt is better than the cal mag mixes....to each his own though..right 😀..
