look for products that hold better - I know nearly nothing about most product since I've been shaved most of my life, but from the few years I did style I'd say gel and hairspray will hold the most helmet-head style and fall out easiest.

I found an awesome line of wax that worked wonders, smelled good and has options called Gatsby moving rubber. Amazon link to one I used for a thin hair medium length classic side part and a chartfor which would work best for you.

I'm sure there are other brands but I'd say your ultimate question is all about the product you choose - people swear by crew pomade, but I found this to work way better over the course of the day
Ah thanks dude...I use a combination of the below:
Da Dude Da Wax Hair Wax - Strong... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0124HJRBE?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Osis Schwarzkopf Plus Dust It... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B5PFYGO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Yeah I would stay away from gels, they make your hair look too wet and greasy. I don't think many adults use gels, they're mostly used by younger guys (like under 16)
Wax's are best...the one I'm using is this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/DaDude-DaWax-Very-Strong-Styling/dp/B0124HJRBE/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1516548021&sr=8-1&keywords=da+dude
It's expensive, and I put put off buying it initially because of that very reason. But it genuinely does last ages as you only need a little bit.
Not sure where you're from...but if you just go to Amazon and type in mens wax, you can see which ones are the best reviewed and you can get a cheaper one.
Probably some sort of wax, clay or paste.
I remember Gatsby was pretty popular back in the early 2010s (my observation, at least). https://www.amazon.com/GATSBY-MOVING-RUBBER-SPIKY-2-8oz/dp/B000V2ACH8
im 4 perms deep and i would say it damaged my hair that much. if you take good care of your hair you should be fine. and i would try to use products made for people with curly hair and style it like a perm first, if your curls aren’t as tight as you want them to be i would get a perm. i style mine with this and like i said you can find it at any local cvs, walgreens, target, and more.
Not sure why people are making fun of the OP. The OP asked how he can have this style. He didn't ask for people's opinion.
Anyways... it seems like you need to get your hair short and use hair product. I found this the other day, it's called "Gatsby Hair Wax." I think you can only get it on Amazon since it's a Japanese product.
GATSBY MOVING RUBBER SPIKY EDGE Hair Wax, 80g/2.8oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000V2ACH8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_QB0FA0STY3X3D60DNH0P
I personally haven't used it gatsby hair products but I have seen someone use it on youtube and the videos provided on Amazon. This may be what you're looking for.
ok let me start by telling you that you are in fact adorable!
pass that, for your hair i would recommend you maybe using another shampoo?
Idk much about the one you are mentioning but I've seen it around and i have never had anyone recommend it to me for curly hair in particular, i would recommend changing shampoos every 6 months, it really helps you hair! Also i would recommend to change to Marc Anthony for shampoo, its not the best out there, but it's for curly hair and you have a lot to choose from, for conditioner i would also recommend Marc Anthony.
I would also recommend you not to fully rinse the conditioner of your hair, leave like a 15%-20% of it and put it in the micro fiber towel for like 20 min but don't wait until is fully dry, then i would put a cream (I personally like this one: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0038TVH3Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) it's sooo good! and of course shape the curls a lil bit and let it dry naturally.
I hope it helps, and quick reminder nor to wash it every day :)
This hair wax is light and hold great. I recommend it for your hairstyle
I use about an pea size amounts. Maybe 3-4 for you but don't necessarily work it into your hair. It's more of a shield for the outside and holds all day. I beg you to try it at least. I've purchased many and this one makes your hair look fuller and thicker
Thanks! I see. So if i go that route, would i then not need a Smoothie Cream for curl enhancing? It's this Shea curl enhancing product i have that was meant for putting on for styling and moisture like a leave in conditioner, but i've found it mostly just leaves my hair very dry with residue in it after a couple hours. Can i effectively replace that with a leave-in conditioner (and it hopefully not have the same drying/dusty effect)?
Yes, you should. I'd recommend you grow out your bangs first (and get a new barber). If you want something easy to get started, pick up a blow dryer and some product. Blow dry your hair after a shower, and style it into shape with some wax/clay. I use this, but you really just want something advertised as high hold, low shine.
you should check out the Gatsby Spike Edge Wax here. I have used it before, really good for creating spikes! Pretty sure would work on you since you mentioned that you have thin hair as well
Ok, so beyond the dapper dan man comment, which is amazing. This product is the best I have ever found. It isn't shiny at all, holds your hair while also allowing it to be pliable. I love it.
TIGI Bed Head B for Men Matte Separation Workable Wax, 3 Ounces https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002N5MI2S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SawfCb151FFY4
So I'm trying more of a gentleman look. I'm 25 and I have genetics that are going to make me look like I'm 16 forever, and I'm trying to set myself apart from that a bit. Unfortunately I still can't grow a good beard (I've even used thebeardclub's growth oils and palms for 3-4 months straight. It's just too patchy). My hair has also been thinning these past few years (Likely from stress). I used to have some of the thickest hair I've ever seen, but now you can see through my hair on the top.
I just started using this:
https://www.amazon.com/TIGI-Matte-Separation-Workable-Ounces/dp/B002N5MI2S?th=1
And I only wash my hair about 1-2 times a week (Heard that it's better for your hair, and can thicken it since shampoo tends to thin). I have dandruff so I have to use head & shoulders or some dandruff shampoo.
The next haircut I want to try is the Thomas Shelby haircut: https://regalgentleman.com/blogs/blog/116952388-hairstyles-the-peaky-blinders-hair-cuts-2016
But I guess I'm just trying to find what matches me best and that I enjoy. Any suggestions on thickening hair? And any advice on fixing patchy/thin beard hair is appreciated. Also any hair style advice, too.
> Bed Head matte wax
awesome! This the stuff? https://www.amazon.com/TIGI-Matte-Separation-Workable-Ounces/dp/B002N5MI2S/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1515424817&sr=8-3&keywords=Bed+Head+matte+wax
Use a curl enhancing cream.
Something like this - https://www.amazon.com/SheaMoisture-Coconut-Hibiscus-Enhancing-Smoothie/dp/B0038TVH3Y
Also - 4C hair is not "curly" hair, so defining curls is not as easy as it is for other hair types. 4C hair is "kinky", and kinky hair has a natural Z shape pattern compared to an S shape pattern like standard curly hair. Just keep that in mind on your journey!
You just put like a dime sized or really, even smaller dab in the middle of your palm and rub your hands together until it's all over them and run your fingers softly through your hair several times and it won't just fall over flat when it drys, when you get out of the shower.
I'd suggest Gatsby (pink container). It's strong enough for me to easily mold my straight Asian hair!
I forgot hair gel once on a trip to Japan and found this in a 7-11 on the fly. I've ordered it from amazon ever since for years.
I wash every other week with neutrogena, otherwise with warm water. After shampoo I always use this stuff to keep it from drying out:
https://www.amazon.com/SheaMoisture-Coconut-Hibiscus-Enhancing-Smoothie/dp/B0038TVH3Y?th=1
For styling, I add a little lemon juice right after I shower in the morning, and comb it with my fingers.
It's totally worth it dude! I found it at target, in the beauty section I think. I could be wrong though. You can also get it on amazon here:
https://www.amazon.com/SheaMoisture-Coconut-Hibiscus-Enhancing-Smoothie/dp/B0038TVH3Y
I've tried American crew for my undercut but it doesn't hold as well as I hoped, the green gatsby will hold your hair up for 2 days GATSBY MOVING RUBBER AIR RISE Hair Wax, 80g/2.8oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000V2ACI2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ptvjybVSHJYTC
I use this hair gel called gatsby moving rubber, green can.
It's a japanese product. I was out of gel on a trip there and picked up a tiny container of it at a 7/11. Its really good, been using it ever since.
I am considering making wooden beads out of birch wood. I have heard that beeswax can be used to seal wood. I have a container of Murray's 100% Australian Beeswax (a hair product that is actually mostly petroleum jelly). I tested out rubbing the product on a bit of the wood and it did darken the color a bit. I don't want to go out and buy wood sealer just for this project, so should I use the hair product or just leave the beads without sealer/finisher or w/e? Would using the hair product give me any advantages at all?
Where have you checked? I used to use American Crew fiber and I switched to Spiking Wax by a brand called Göt2B Glued. It works similarly to fiber and I actually prefer it over fiber now. They have it in Sultan Center and LuLu and it's far less expensive than any American Crew product. If they run out of the wax I just use the Spiking Glue.
I use one index finger worth of this gatsby, spread it between the length of my index/middle finger tip and lightly run those 4 fingers (2 on each hand) over my head. I think this is a tiny amount, at the rate I go I could probably do a few years with 1 purchase. I don't touch my scalp at all but by the end of the day though my scalp feels like it's had product through it and I feel horrible if I go to sleep with it. If I shampoo it out, the scalp feels like the product combined with the water to sink into the scalp which is why I'm questioning if there's something I'm doing wrong. Because of this I rarely style my hair (once a month if not at all).
Your reminder that the hair past the follicle being dead does make me feel better though if my hair is styled, the scalp is noticeably uncomfortable at the end of the day. Do you wash your hair everyday (with shampoo) to get the product out? What does your day to day look like? I should probably visit a dermatologist too but that last one I saw was a waste of time as he didn't do anything just repeating that I'm fine
Is this what you are talking about?
http://www.amazon.com/Shea-Moisture-Enhancing-Smoothie-Hibiscus/dp/B0038TVH3Y
What exactly does it do? Does it have a smell to it?
What do all of those other things do?
Thanks!
i really like
its a thick wax, matte finish
