I picked up these books several months ago and have been very slowly making my way through them. I try to learn the shape of one letter and put it into practice and just write a lot. I don’t worry too much about sticking to a schedule... just once I start feeling comfortable, I learn a new letter.
I ordered the Spencerian Penmanship set when I got back into fountain pens and holy cow has it improved my overall handwriting.
Thank you for replying and excellent feedback!
Everything you say fits the handwriting.
For printers, emotions are all or nothing, a flood or a peep. And it mostly peeps and seldom floods.
Being consciously aware of your patterns is a big step towards recovery and getting stronger.
Getting more in touch with feelings without feeling shame is also empowering.
If you did not recognize the dysfunction in your family, I suspect much of the abuse was subtle. Subtle abuse bypasses the conscious mind and goes directly into the subconscious. The child or parent do not realize that abuse is going on. It is very difficult to identify and treat.
Here's a good book for beginners. I bought it years ago and like it very much:

I don't know much about the online courses so I can't recommend any. You can visit their websites, check out the course outline, and inquire if you have more questions.
Thank you for visiting and posting, and hope you can visit my sub again and often!
All the best!
I used these Spencerian workbooks off Amazon! There's a theory book as well but I kiiiinda skimmed it since I already had most of it down from my calligraphy experience, but it's worth a read if you're starting from scratch :)
Hi Mac. Thank you for the kind words :)
To be honest, all I did to improve my handwriting was work from this set of books I purchased from Amazon, and then practice as diligently as time would allow. I have been working on my handwriting off and on for a little over a year now. Good luck!
I guess it’s the official book? I found it on amazon. It’s this one https://www.amazon.com/Spencerian-Penmanship-Theory-Book-copybooks/dp/088062096X/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Spencerian&qid=1593473621&sr=8-1
This is a great beginner book:

I also have trained with an FBI consultant on graphology, body language, personality profiling, and group dynamics. I also have a Master's Degree in Leadership where I use these skills extensively. Parts of my Masters' Degree was an analysis of profiling methods including: Meyers Briggs, Disc, Enneagram, MMPI2, Big Five, and more.
I loved your content as it expressed both interest and skepticism in this. Keep that in mind as this is not an exact science, but tends to work pretty well, especially if someone is not writing with the intent of being analyzed. It is possible to try to game this, but most people cannot fake more than half a page before their real writing gives them away. I won't analyze anyone writing on lined or graph paper or if they have written less than half a page.
Sure! I bought a set on amazon for spencerian script! Spencerian script
I am afraid not, I would say that Calligraphy would better suit the flex pen. To learn the shapes and strokes of Spencerian I bought these practice books and taught myself during lockdown, it takes a bit of time to understand all of it but the result is amazing as you progress, I highly recommend
I used this Spencerian learning 5 book set , cheap too!
It took me about a year to work through this, but it forever changed my handwriting. I fell in love with journaling after getting to the point that I loved my writing.
Plenty of resources here I think you’d find useful, especially the guidelines. If you’re going for a specific script, I’d get the/a book on it and work through it (I’m guessing you’re going for Spencerian so a great place to start with that is Platt Rogers Spencer’s copybook set.

I’m just gonna throw this out but, overall your penmanship is really nice.
Slant and height will make it look clean 😉
Calligrapher's Bible, as mentioned in the other comment.
Mastering Copperplate if you want a book dedicated to Copperplate.
For Spencerian, this plus the workbooks: https://www.amazon.ca/Spencerian-Penmanship-Theory-Mott-Media/dp/088062082X/
When I wrote this, I was using the Spencerian Penmanship copybooks from the 1800s. I've now started practicing flourishing with Michael Sull's Spencerian Penmanship (this is the kit I am using). The first set is very practical and will improve handwriting. Sull's book is definitely more artistic calligraphy, and they recommend using an oblique pen.
Lots of practice and patience.
I found this book to be a great starting place: Improve Your Handwriting (Teach Yourself) https://www.amazon.com/dp/1444103792/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_WT7JCFWDWA0Q5K7N9A9J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
There is another big proponent of the “italic” writing style, which is really rather straightforward and easy to learn. I’m forgetting the author at the moment, but also recommend you investigate italic handwriting.
Apologize for the super late reply. Yes I did find a book:
However, it may not be perfect. I used it as a starting point and then adapted it so I could write a bit quicker and that felt more natural, so a good starting point.
Get this handwriting book and a fountain pen and practice! Cursive handwriting is beautiful and fun to learn. I find it to be a meditative experience.

I used this book decades ago, and it taught me both what is now my day to day handwriting, and enough calligraphy that I was able to make money doing invitations and dinner party menus for years. The reviews claim the quality of the printing has gone down but the content and practice sheets were top notch.
If you’re interested in Spencerian, I highly recommend this. It’s a theory book plus five copybooks, and it’s how I learned.
I never learned standard cursive, so I’m afraid I can’t help you there.
Best of luck on this journey, and remember, speed is your prize for accuracy!
It’s called the lost art of handwriting. I think it’s pretty good.

To me, it looks like someone's own organic handwriting, not a specific script. But if you want to practice a script that looks similar, there's Spencerian.
If you google "spencerian script practice sheets" you'll find a ton of free practice sheets you can print out. Or if you want a more formal experience, you can buy a reprint of the original 19th-century Spencerian manual plus 5 practice notebooks on Amazon.
Spencerian workbooks with theory
I just bought with a lamy safari because my handwriting is attrocious and want to get better
Hey, I too think your handwriting is pretty nice and neat. However, I believe I understand your query: you're after a more kinda... mature style?? Regardless of its name, mature or whatever, the alternative to your handwriting joins up letters, has some slant and sort of 'flows' more naturally... Personally, I found this book very useful for and well written if the goal is to have a 'fluent hand'. Moreover, the book is a delight to read that is packed with exercises. Anyway, that's my opinion, hope it helps!
I’ve mentioned it a few other times in this threat but it’s “The Lost Art of Handwriting” by Brenna Jordan. Here’s an Amazon link.
Thank you! You as well! I actually bought the book from Barnes and Noble if you could believe that. It’s “The Lost Art of Handwriting” by Brenna Jordan. I honestly really like it, my handwriting as a whole has improved significantly using the practice methods in the book and i personally just learn better with something like a book for guidance. Here’s an Amazon link.
